Do I not use this outside of the corner? The crossup is so ambigious post Ex tatsu in the corner, almost seems like a waste to give that up. I guess if the dp’s are scary enough.
Skatan, I believe anything with the range and invincibility on it will crush it out, I once ate Guiles Super > U1 for using this setup, this was relatively early while I was seeing what it did an didn’t work on…it also just could be the internet that let this happen…
Also, I had a casual set against Dawgtanian while he was visiting NYC last a month or so ago, and it was nice to meet someone at a tournament who knew who you were hehe.
Yeah I’ll look into cross up tatsu and see if I can get anything off aa shunpu too. Hopefully a lot of randoms for me to test stuff on
Midscreen the setup is safe from EVERYTHING when you do it correctly, but characters with a good backdash can backdash out of it (which is punishable if you read it).
In the corner it’s safe from Chun’s super when done correctly -I THINK-, but it’s definitely safe from 3f reversals like fuerte u2.
I’m certain it’s punishable by Zangief u1 though, so I think you have to take into account the time they are floating in the air + get up time to understand who you’re safe against and who you’re not.
mrmark: cool, I got a nice set of games in with him during SVB this year.
It’s nice to play against a fuerte that plays in a technical way instead of just abusing him.
mrmark, where in brook are you?
Edit: also, thinking about the stand close mp change, that might help alot for hit detection while still getting powerful combos.
just outside of Park Slope F train
Ive been playing Sak in CF and at a few tournaments when scheduling allows (Guard Crush was too much of a rush from work down to BK which is a shame because its not far from where I live…but from work I’d get there and not have time to warm up)I even made top8 at Nov’s 8bit and up haha…
my execution is somewhat rubbish cause I just don’t practice enough =\ and I’ve been trying to not play her online as the timing feels drastically different from when I sit down at the arcade.
@Skatan: I actually had a long set with his Gen, but I agree, his elfuerte reminds me of Kai in cali, in that he tries to outsmart you, in stead of just going on a guessing rampage. Elf is unique liek that though, I believe he more than any other character reflects the players skill and intention.
I mentioned this before but I could never use that setup without eating a U2 from Ryu, can anyone prove me wrong?
It really doesn’t matter alot since Ryu won’t use U2 anyway but it just tells me its not 100% safe.
so far with the matches ive had, its 100% safe. just lvl3 hado to bait and sit there. or empty jump xup bait. luckily all those xup baits never ended with ryus U2 auto correcting right at me :wgrin:
I was doing it yesterday and I was able to block an EX Shoryu, which has 3 frame startup. U2 starts up much slower. If you’re eating a reversal it means you are starting the hadoken too late.
No its safe unless you do the hadoken too late or you are too close to the guy. I use it to catch people with poor wake up options that I think will backdash. Do it so that the fat hado will catch them whether they stay blocking or backdash.
Against characters with good reversals do it so that the tip of the fat hadoken will hit their front. With that spacing and the right timing nothing can touch you. I’ve even done it to Rufus and I was sure his wake up U2 would get me for the win but nope. even though the freeze ultra still looked like sakura was in recovery his point blank U2 wake up ultra was blocked and I won. This was a 4 bar connection from England to Finland.
AE won’t get here until Monday instead of tomorrow :/. Sucks. Plus side may have more time to test shit without worry if I can get there when the arcade opens
at :17 seconds, her EX tatsu whiffs against Yang. poor spacing by chance?
That shouldn’t have whiffed, looks like Yang might have a weird reel animation.
what! thats some bull right there. ive never seen that whiff on anyone
yea, i didnt think it was supposed to whiff. thats why im hoping it was weird spacing. seems like it would make the Yang fight very hard if it constantly whiffs.
ugh great…another aukma tatsu whiff BS. probably not though since yang’s hit box was still in recovery animation leading to saks hit stun on cr.hp not being long enough to combo? if not this then thats bs
That whiffs on Akuma, Blanka, and Honda occasionally. Hope to god we don’t have to add Yang to that list.
Hopefully going to play AE on Sunday.
Chun is priority, but not much changed with her, so I’ll play Sakura and try to feel some stuff out.
MM well I finall got the chance to test out AE. I couldn’t really test her cl.mp and far.mk much or her air shunpuu cause everyone seemed to be playing to win cause of the long line and it costs $2 a game…
I was able to do a lvl 3 hadoken from pretty much point blank and be able to block a jump in attack afterwards, it pretty much has guile recovery haha. It will definitely help with her meaty hadoken setups. As for the air shunpuu, another Sakura player was able to land 2 hits but he never tried ultra, i’ll see if i can do it tomorrow. I still don’t really know how her buffed cl.mp should be used though, should I be going straight for the shunpuu pressure or going straight to cr.mk.
Thats the odd thing, pick Ryu (u2) and record Sakura doing that setup in the corner (and block afterwards). If you EX shoryuken she blocks it or it whiffs I don’t remember. If you U2 you will hit her.
Nice to know that her fb recovery is that good, thanks for testing I hope we get more Sakura AE info asap.
