couldnt Adon with an uppercut after a blocked overhad?
from Acqua: “Ibuki and Rose are totally nerfed. Sagat might have a future. Since Yun is definitely strong, strong players will notice and try hopping on the bandwagon.”
neither of them posed a threat to me as Sakura but still makes me wonder where Sakura would go with all her “buffs” now.
Wow, to bad Ibuki got nerfed she didn’t deserve it. Sakura’s backdash looks alot better to me.
could be just me but it looks like she hits a level 2 focus a little quicker. i wish there was an arcade close to me with SSFIVAE.
People said the same thing between Vanilla and Super but nothing really changed. I think level 2 just comes a lot quicker than most people realize.
That improved fireball looks better than I thought it would.
Hmm I’m really curious about her cl.mp and her far st.mk normals along with her air shunpuu. I’m wondering if those changes are really enough to make her a stronger character, regardless I’m still probably gonna main her. Her fireball definitely does look improved.
much better recovery on the fireball
Someone should have told the Sak to friggin test some stuff ffs. Everyone on all the AE vids I’ve seen so far is playing like their life is on the line.
I remember it was like this with Super, too lol.
Otherwise 50% or more of her bad matchups are getting slapped with the nerf bat (or beat to a bloody pulp), so she’ll be a stronger character overall either way. But I do think that her changes will make her a stronger character either way.
Now if people would actually bother to try and test things that would be great.

So far those backdash changes are pretty noticeable now you see Juri flying across the screen when she gets hit during her backdash. The lvl 3 hadoken recovery does seem faster I’m just wondering why the Sakura player decides to crouch right after though. I still wished he at least used cl.mp or far st.mk oh and damn that Juri player gets salty XD.
He’s crouching because he’s scared of people spamming out shit, as he should be.
My arcade should be getting it tomorrow. So far I am going to test escape tatsu and try to get a far/close s.MP combo. Going to see how effective s.MK is too. Hopefully I’ll be able to test all these things. Arcade is probably going to be packed.
I haven’t really seen or played this game in a year and a half, so you better guys are going to have to fill me in. Otoshi 2-hit is untechable? And then you can power up the level 3 fb, and block in time to avoid reversals? I still don’t know if this is worth it, but I guess the flow of the game is changing.
Provided CF has it set up today, Ill be in there and check as much as I can, but if its like Vanilla the wait will be forever…I’ll make sure to check air tatsu and see if can get stmp to st mk link…and try far mp cancels…
Even though damage has been boosted…I’m generally terrible at noticing it…and even if it is I might just think stuff hits harder ala a placebo effect hehe
eitherway…ill know if its there after lunch and then head down
plz try anti air j.shunpu as well, see if you can combo anything from it ^^
@ Destin: Trust me, the otoshix2, lv3 hado setup is worth it against all the characters it works against.
The blockstun is long enough for Sakura to do a xup and if they mash srk it comes out the wrong way.
It also does 30 something chip damage, so it actually does more damage than finishing the entire otoshi, and if they try to escape it someone you can punish any escape they try. It’s also safe against any wakeup reversal when done right midscreen, and safe against most wakeup reversals in the corner, Zangief u1 for example will catch her afaik if I’m not executing it wrong.
I use this setup every chance I get, the chip damage is great and so are her options for pressuring afterwards.
Which characters does it, does it not work against? I live in nyc, so I might play this game for like, 3 days, but that should be enough to beat up some nyc peoples. How does the crossup work, do I put on the blockstun then walk backwards to get into range then crossup? Is it purely for avoiding the reversal? I never used otoshi anyhow, I always went for mixups after an ex tatsu (old school now?). I can see how it is superior than a full otoshi though.
Edit: Is it also better than going for U2? Do you get any post U2 setups? Corner only? Does it work ok after anti air dp, and which version (diagonal or horizontal) do you use in what setups?
Sorry for not scanning through all the sakura stuff to find this, i figure skatan can answer it in a few seconds.
It doesn’t work against Dhalsim, Boxer and Blanka (at least) in the corner.
There are a few more than that but those are the ones I know from the top of my head.
In the corner you just do otoshi x2, backdash, lv3 hado and then jump straight after to get the xup.
Also if you do empty jump c.lk at that point it’s actually pretty difficult to block.
