** The A.S. 3S Thread**

This thread is turning out pretty good.

I wish I could contribute more… y’all keep it up!

LMAO. Too good! Although I resemble that last remark…er…I mean I resent it

Hopefully I’ll get an arcade stick soon so I can practice these Hugo strats…

If you’re playing Jae and Raph regularly then you are already getting more practice than me.
I havn’t played anyone except Jordan since the Charlotte tourney:p

Ted

Another question for those of you who have seen A.S. players outside of Florida:

What characters are common amongst the players?

I know Ted plays Urien and Larry plays Hugo but my knowledge stops there.

The most common characters here in Florida are Ryu, Ken, and Chun-li.

Hope you don’t mind my poking and prodding, but I’m really curious about the other A.S. 3S players and who they use/what they’re like.

Ryu , Ken , Akuma and Chun for the most part.
A Makoto player from SC who is doing well and a few Yun/Yang players (myself included) and the occasional Alex.
I know of only one Necro player but he lives in Cali now and there is the occasional Dudley. Nothing else stands out except a few casual Q and twelve sightings…oh and Larry and I are closet Oro fiends

Ted

i use Chun-Li, Ken, and starting dudley!

hey sami, i can finally do that makoto combo that you showed me on the video! haha…it was actually kinda easy. for those who dont what i’m talking about:

command grab near corner, standing fierce xx abare, late tsurigi axe kick(dizzy by now), dash behind and jab, dash behind jab x 3, ex uppercut! or instead of ex uppercut, do jab hayate or jab oroshi chop.

then do another abare if you have one more meter into your favorite combo/reset follow up. she has many ways to do 100% damage to almost every character given she has 2 levels…very scary! of course this is depeneded on how good your execution is and if your opponents know her setups. it’s very hard to practice on the dreamcast control pad… :bluu:

Jae:
COOL! when will u have some free time for another session.

peace

Yeah but the great thing is Ted that we get to play on your Cabneit!! No goblin!! LOL It is crazy after that session we had at your place I have been able to understand alot about 3S in general. But I believe that I will take yours and Larry’s advice and just stick with 2 main characters and maybe have just a favorite one to mess around with!!

Ummmm Jae I may have to try that one out. The only problem is that I got use to Ted’s machine that I can’t really stand playing 3S on the goblin. But I must try this out, and deal with it. Thanks Larry for the Hugo tatics I may have to try them out.

I’ve recently learned just how Urien is really supposed to be played. I’ve expanded my combo ability and Aegis set-ups greatly
and have found that Urien is a monster at dizzying people almost as good as Makoto is. Also , Temporal Thunder may be a feasible option against characters who don’t juggle well like Alex and Hugo just for the ease at which Temp.Thunder leaves your opponet dizzy.

Jordan…
if you’re available we can play some 3S Fri night at my place. I have to work sunday morning so I guess Sat is out. Let me know.

Ted

Like i posted in the other thread i am down

peace

That’s great to hear Ted.

As for Temporal Thunder, it can prove valuable at times. If you do take it up I suggest you get down the 100% combos he has on Akuma and Remy.

While it may seem impractical, it’s always nice to have ready in the back of your head just in case your opponent royally screws up. Just like those 100% Makoto combos no?

Oh yes and thanks go out to both you, Larry, and Drfunkenstein for providing me a lit of what I can expect to see at FR6. I’m surprised there are no Genei-Jin using Yun players though. , ah well count your blessings I say.

There is one Yun-SA#3 in Atlanta but usually he plays Ryu when he’s serious about winning. His Yun is very effective and seldom misses any Genei-Jin opportunities. I am working with Yun on the side myself but I’m concentrating hard on Urien for now. I played Chun mostly over the past 2 yrs and I’m sick of seeing her so I’m working on several ideas and strats.

Ted

I play Alex mostly and now I am playing Yang most of the time in between my MvC2 playing anyway. I been thinking about Akuma cuz I used to play him but I dont anymore so who knows. I may use Urien just so I can do his multi tackle juggles cuz they are so fly.

June plays Ken, alex, and makoto, but when he is serious he picks Ken Masters. My hommie Kamau plays a mean dudley. Not like detrick, but he beat ted in a ATL 3S tournament.:stuck_out_tongue: My hommie charles plays with 12 and oro, but mostly with 12 now. I’m not in the closet damnmit with oro. I’ve been out of the closet with him for sometime now. Your the one still hiding your oro fetish. I just don’t trust my skills with him in a tournament yet, but you might see him in the next O.L. tournament.

Actually if he doesn’t win with ryu he will play yun. He plays akuma, ryu, and yun, but he is equally good with all of them. He just feels comfortable playing with shoto’s. It’s a force of habit.

Ah… the jokes I could make about Larry coming out of the closet about playing oro… who happens to be an old man who fights with one arm…

Larry!!! I want to play against your hugo!!! Damn pink wearing, chain having, nasty hair having ugly bastard named hugo. You know, 3s would be better if Dan was in it. Seriously though, what are you doing this weekend? I might be around your way if you want to play a few rounds.

Actually no…I’ve never even played his Dudley actually.
I’ve always wanted to play him but he always left after the tourney was over.

Are you sure ted? I’ll have to check my old brackets. I could have swore that you guy’s played. Oh well my bad.

You going to play against oro bitch.:stuck_out_tongue: Since you got jokes on oro you have to beat him 1st before you meet hugo.:stuck_out_tongue:
