I did get to see the Winchester Mystery House with my girlfriend though. I thought it was going to be really scary stuff (ala Travel Channel specials on TV) but it wasn’t. Sort of weird but really interesting place overall.
If a console get together does happen this weekend when and where is it going to happen? I’m not sure if I will be free Friday yet, Saturday definitely not, and Sunday maybe. Definitely post up if you guys will be throwing one together for sure.

the ever-elusive randal was a formerly employed inhabitant of scandia. it delves mostly in marvel vs. capcom 2, though it can sometimes be spotted playing other games. in terms of physical appearance, it is a hybrid of asian and caucasian descent, and is almost always seen wearing a backwards baseball cap. it can also do the soulja boy dance at will.
I’m just… a little bothered by the CVS2 match# confusion because I was being stupid and counting on the second set instead of playing right on the first one. Which is my own dumb fault, in actuality.
I’m thinking about everyone meeting at my place Thursday. I have two TV’s, three if need be, one guaranteed joystick. Two if Shake is around or if I remember to get his. Both Tekken 5 joysticks, in case you’re wondering, so I recommend people bring their own if they’re not used to those.
It’s an apartment complext so nothing too rowdy, although the closest neightbor works at night, so that’s a plus. There is a food and beverage facility right across the street open until 8PM. Later than that, there is a safeway about a 5 minute drive, although I recommend the 15 minute walk because it’s nice.
There is plenty of parking due to the small commercial center across the street (which contains the aforementioned food and beverage facility as well as a burger joint, a pizza place, a flower shoppe (in case you’re running late playing all these games and left yo’ girl hanging), a mailing center (in case you need to get those flowers to her but don’t want to go all theway over there because you still want to get more games in) and a bakery.
No Notary Public, unfortunately. So it’s ALMOST all the basics.
I’m going to start calling peple wednesday and thursday to potentially arrange something for thursday night, so even if you normally can’t make it, try to this time so we can get a feel on how this will go.
It’s pretty chill at my place and Shake and I usually don’t mind if people chill even if we’re busy, so if you’re working till, like, 10PM and think that’s too late, don’t worry about it. We’re usually up pretty late and don’t mind.
There’s a garbage can. It likes to be used. It told me so itself. I’ll have other extra bags around so people can just throw things in there. I don’t need maids nor do I demand extreme cleanliness. I don’t think it will even be an issue. Just try not to drink extremely colorful drinks.
The goal is to get everyone at scandia to roll through, no discrimination… indiscriminately. I didn’t get EVERYONE’S info and some people didn’t have it available, so i’m looking at you guys to fill in the gaps.
Shake, Rivival and I don’t actually play that much, but we do take time to travel down to areas with some crazy@$$ competition here and there which is really good for fundimentals. Eventually, I want everyone to be “keystone ready” so we can roll down there and at least make a good showing. I feel bad because we do go to Scandia and talk about how we play together and whatnot and we never meant to have this exclusive group. We’ve just been too lazy to really expand it.
My goal is to get everyone together playing more often in a fashion where competition and an all around good time is guaranteed. This way we can be in control of how we patronize scandia and when so no one ends up wasting time there with no competition. At the same time, I don’t want people just going there and getting gouged because the manager doesn’t respect his patrons and expects them to do his work for him. As such, I don’t want to just boycott the place but I do want them to know that the way it’s running now is keeping people away. I don’t want to bear the burden of having to run in-houses because my actions ended up killing the Scandia set up.
good stuff nick, i wouldn’t be able to show up this thursday but next thursday i have no school, so that is a possibility.
in other news, scandia will replace Mortal kombat 2 with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Fist of the north star will be replaced with vampire savior. and sadly, it looks like puzzle fighter is going away also. it seems it makes less money then tekken, however the good news for that is either project justice or joe joes bizzarrrrre adventure will be put in. so something to look forward too, maybe as early as tomorrow i’ve been told
As far as Games go, we have Guitar Hero 1, 2 and 3 (kinda). And Shake is better at those than he is at fighting games. But if you want to beat me for sure, just bust one of those out.

holy shit, i was getting all hyped to hang out this thursday, until i read spanky’s last post and realized it was valentine’s day. i doubt i’ll be able to go too. you wouldn’t be able to do any other night this week, nick? and i can’t fully speak on niko and luther’s behalf, but i do know that they’re more than down for some console action. niko tried to get something going at his place too, but it kinda fell through. not sure if they can make thursday, but i’ll ask. when it does go down, i’d mainly be wanting to play the usual 3s/mvc2/cvs2… but i did notice a glaring omission in your list: tmnt tournament fighters for snes. let’s get down on that for reals.
but yeah, i felt hella bad about the cvs2 thing, but i didn’t wanna take back the ruling on it since most other people knew about it. next time i run any brackets, i’m gonna make sure everything is clear with everyone first.
as for scandia getting vs, umk3, jojo, project justice… i don’t know. sounds cool and all, but i’d rather have perfect sticks and 1 token play on the regular games. i thought getting garou was gonna be sick, but not when the only people playing it are me and the random mexican dudes at scandia. where the heck is super turbo? that really should be the next one up.
and if scandia got sf4 around its launch, would you guys pay 2 tokens per play? i think i wouldn’t mind it… and it would be good leverage to get the other games on 1 token if it doesn’t happen by then.

Hopefully enough people will show up to keep encouraging you to do this Nick. I wouldn’t want most of us not being able to show up this Thursday discourage you. I would definitely be down for playing mostly CVS2 and maybe some GGXX since I stink at everything else.
As much as I like Jojo’s, Project Justice and so on…I find that it’s more “obscure” games. Like Kris mentioned I’d rather have that money spent on fixing the sticks and getting good parts. I think Scandia at this point needs to be concerned with making sure the fighting games they already have work correctly, rather than try to amass a giant fighting game section to show off. If the big 3 (or 4 depending on who you ask) CVS2, 3S, MVC2 and GGXX don’t make Scandia that much (any) money, I doubt that Jojo and Project Justice are going to “finally” throw it over the top.
Also…yes…Scandia really really really needs ST.
Did you guys add Mortal Kombat II into the tournament? Scandia should get Tekken 6 and Street Fighter 4. Did you guys see the SF4 arcade cabinets yet?
all of the games that have been added have not been bought, no money has been spent on them. They are chris personal games, and he is putting them in the scandia machines for people to play something different.
oh yeah, and for some info on street fighter 4, he told me that if scandia were to buy it, it would be 3-4 tokens per play, so not sure if all of you would be down with that
