Reminds me the same reaction I had in 2011 when I spend 250 euros for an Xbox, then I got disappointed and come back to GGPO. Advice : wait loooong for feedbacks, or better : try at friends home and compare with GGPO, the feeling is not the same for all people.
Yeah true ill most likely hit up a friends house and try it out there before purchasing
My body is ready for this to drop on 360. Good to see Capcom hasn’t completely forgotten about us.
apparently these changes were given to capcom 14 months ago… wtf. thanks capcom.
well, i’m still waiting on the 360 version so until then it’s back to ggpo.
I think it was actually 15 months. But you know what? It’s ok. It’s here now. I’m content. Or will be once it’s released on my console of choice. Incorrect ping display is kinda disconcerting, though. How could it display the pings incorrectly? What would be the reason for padding the numbers? If they are trying to use ms as a disguised arbitrary connection quality rating (remember red/orange/yellow/green?), then that’s fucking stupid and I’m mad.
I’m honestly blown away that IG didn’t just ignore some of the “fixes”.
Ryu’s bag flopping over.
Urien’s Aegis color.
Meter length.
On paper it’s something to roll your eyes at, but they didn’t, and they fixed it. I won’t be playing 3SOE, but I can’t deny how fucking cool that is, especially for an old game.
So are the meters finally 1:1 with arcade? Comparison picture?
The character color indicator is rather poorly implemented, the grading just vanishes in the backgrounds mostly, even more so with scanlines on.
Also they didn’t fix Q’s portrait, lame.
Sucks the zenpo glitch wasn’t noticed early on.
Just remember to play Yun at every console tourney lol
It took them a whole fucking year to update this game wow.and im almost sure they didnt fix the “Cant ready up in lobbies issue”
So I played some games to test it out. Here are my general thoughts:
The net code is definitely improved, but it isn’t going to make high ping games magically playable.
Good connections play very smooth, a lot more smooth than before the update. I’d say that good connections actually play better than GGPO; under certain conditions of course. The net code helps for sure, but it also helps that all players are on universal hardware.
Bad connections are pretty bad. I played on a wired connection, and the higher ping players would spike around, attacks would rollback, sound clips wouldn’t play, etc.
The lowest ping I’ve played against was 130 in my short session. I messaged him to get an idea of locations: I’m in Washington and he’s in Alaska which isn’t necessarily close. The games were as smooth as online can get.
tldr: it’s better, good connections play better, bad connections are still bad connections.
you’re back in washington? i was just in seattle. next time.
What was this guys username? I wanna track him down lol. Trying to make contact with every Alaska player.
IIRC you and I ping at like 60-80 on GGPO. Alaska shouldn’t get into that 130 area until east coast.
Yeah, I’m down here for a bit. (family stuff)
What’s your PSN? I got a new account, so I lost yours. (JordanTWL)
His name was Murda_Mook254
Well, the 3soe ping numbers are messed up, they aren’t being represented accurately. So basically I had an incredible connection with someone that has about 60-80 ping. Not bad!
Cool. I had a good game with him and threw him the add friend. Bodes well to try to play Lance later. Or him playing Lance, even better.
The lag/rollback feels different
I only have Xbox to compare too and didn’t try any really high pings.
Dropped but silent, like hidden frames, but not jerky and warping anymore. not much in the way of harsh rollbacks in completely different spacing and fucking with the screen pulling with impossible to see jumps.
Sounds are still going to drop which sucks. Arcade mode on 1st bootup music dropped all 3 rounds of Yun’s stage.
I still think ggpo pc is better
Eskimo!
So uh, did anybody else notice that if you play offline versus now the winner isn’t allowed to change character unless you back out to the menu? Kind of a baffling change.
Hey guys like wtf Akuma asked, has the issue with the 0 rank been resolved? Do you get stuck at 0 or did they fix it and you get a number?
It’s fixed. You max out at level 50.
