Please give me advice on things I can improve on or things I am doing wrong.
Try to sweep at max range, so you have less of a chance of being punished for it.
Stop random srking. Only SRK at the end of a combo, for a punish or very rarely on wake-up. You can also use it for an anti-air but I wouldn’t rely on it too much; a good player will start to catch on, parry it and punish you for it. Try doing it late if you’re going to use it for an AA.
You don’t have to follow this, but I’d say don’t press buttons as much in case someone random supers you. You won’t be able to block it because you pressed a button.
Nice R. Kelly in the first video.
THAT was the #9 Oro? Wow you killed him .-. he didn’t seem to put up much of a fight other than the chicken resets
It means PSN Rankingboards are a joke =(
i don’t wanna be “that guy” but you’re giving yourself a little too much credit right here.
Yeah a few of those random srk’s against Mak could easily have cost you the round/game. When she is in the corner and has an SA2 stocked you must be very very careful, 1 mistake when she’s stuck in the corner equals death against some Makoto’s.
You’re lucky you didn’t get some of those light attacks parried against chaitea. Sure a cr.lk stops a dash and is hard to punish at certain distances but eventually you will pay for tapping it too much. If you’re gunna use it set shit up most of the time. You could do ticks into throws, target combo or cr.lk x2 for example. Like’n some of the patience and spacing you use though. Also, fuck yeah to that reversal SA3 cr.mk punish you pulled.
We should play some games next time we’re both on. But I’m not great so no promises of excellence.
Thank you everyone for the advice. Yeah, I get nervous whenever Makoto gets into her grab range. I feel like I don’t really know what to do in that situation or really how to play that matchup.
I definitely agree that we should play games Funland, it’s been too long. And do not worry, I am ass at this game. lol
Are you guys playing IRL or online? If you’re playing on PSN, let me know so I can hop in too (if you both don’t mind).
Me (twelve) vs MrZepplin (Q). Thoughts? It’s the only match I remembered to save a replay of.

why does Q keep falling over
where is his center of gravity
Uploaded some matches with Whoo Kid from NZ, he’s the dude who made that cross-up tutorial I posted in the Gouki section a while ago. I don’t have a direct capture method that will include real scanlines, so camera in front of the screen ftw.

I only recently purchased OE… can’t definitively say whether or not the online is better than GGPO, but it’s certainly better than how GGPO runs on my PC. Feels less laggy, animation is less choppy although I’d say rollbacks are more frequent on a good connection. Anyway runs pretty smooth considering this is South Australia to New Zealand.
Thanks for the ambiguous crossup video by the way. Very comprehensive and helpful. That ken mirror was a fun watch too.
how is the 3s scene in Australia these days? I’ve met like two Australian players but it was over 2 years ago and I don’t remember what they said back then.
Yeah it’s a sick tutorial, and cheers.
Tempted to say it’s a bit crappier than it was 2 years ago, but I haven’t been to Melbourne since Shadowloo 2010. I hear the head to head blast city cab at Bluehouse arcade is gone, which is really sad. Playing on that thing was awesome! The head to head at Box Hill is gone too, but that was one of those widescreen Namco cabs so meh. There’s apparently a cab at some university but I’ve heard the sticks really suck so no one plays there. A Melb player (Loki) has a 3S cab at his place but I haven’t heard about any meet-ups, so yeah AFAIK arcade 3S in Melbourne is dead. Of all the top tier Melb players, only BOC went to the last major there (Battle Arena Melbourne '11) and there was only a handful of people who even knew how to play the game, probably because it was an OE tourney instead of arcade. Shadowloo next month is also being held on OE so I wonder how that will turn out (Can’t afford to go). Over in Sydney, I think Genxa still has a cab in his garage and just by looking at the sign-ups on the Ozhadou forum, it seems there was some 3S talent at OHN earlier this year. This was also an OE tourney. As far as I know there’s no really good players outside of Melb and Syd. We do play the game here in Adelaide but we suck. Also, because the Aus scene is pretty small but spread over a large area, it can be really hard to get experience in certain match-ups, though I’m guessing this is probably true for everywhere outside of Japan at this point.
Which players did you meet by the way, Pherai?
Edit: A new trailer reveals MOV, Deshiken and Genki for Shadowloo. Although the first two appeared last year, I really didn’t expect to see any Japanese 3S players this year because I didn’t think they’d want to play Online Edition. Fuck, need money fast…
So sad to hear about the Melbourne scene crumbling into dust. In 2008-2009 I spent WAY too much money and time peddling my scrubby Gouki at Bluehouse on that candy cab. Met folks like Kechu, Jourist, Hong, Vincent, that great grey oro player, this good white ken player and many others. Attended a couple tourneys and met Loki plus more good guys there too. Learned so much and had many laughs. Was never a fan of the Box Hill 3s machine but it was still better than nothing.
But hey with MOV, Deshiken and Genki you Ozzy’s are damn lucky. Chances to learn from arguably the best Chun, Ken and Alex are golden.
Oro player would be Alex, Ken would be Gavin (uralluckenpk). Sick players. And yeah, I thought it was amazing enough when Tokido came over at the first Shadowloo, but Genki is really something else for me. It’s funny, the trailer was released just after I finished my above post and all of a sudden I was getting swamped with messages of people wanting to practice 3S.
Damn sorry to hear that bro
I feel bad I can’t remember their names, but they both had mega boners for Hong lol. I’ve always been a PaulT guy myself, but sadly I’ve never got a chance to play either one. At least AU is pretty damn close to Japan! Any plans for SBO this year?
Everyone in Aus has a mega boner for Hong!
I can’t remember where I heard this so maybe it’s not accurate, but I think the last SBO quals were held in Sydney and the winning team didn’t actually end up going so the SBO organizers have been pissed at Aus ever since.
