Don’t do too many Spinning Bird Kicks. It’s not the safest move when blocked.
Be careful not to do too many cr.LPs, smart opponents are going to catch on and parry.
Don’t burn your meter with EX Spinning Bird randomly. Its best use is as a wakeup, and even then it’s not too good against overheads.
You seem to have a decent sense of zoning, but don’t be afraid to get a little closer when the opponent’s cornered, especially if you have a Super stocked. Apply pressure to them so you keep them on the defensive and you can land some throws in for damage. Play it smart and keep them cornered. If you feel they’re gonna hit a button, block or parry if they get predictable.
Keep it up, I personally prefer your Chun over Elena.
It seems pointless to me having 2 fixed threads about the same thing, one for videos (this one), and another one for videos too (the “match posting” one). People post matches in both of them.
This thread is strictly for Online Edition videos, and the other one is for general non-OE vids. It’s kind of an unwritten rule that the other thread should have high-level play in there, but there are always exceptions.
Here’s a video of my grand finals match from a tournament some east coast people set up through the 3rd strike junkies page in facebook. The guy ended up rage quitting. lol
Kind of a shame, because you were doing pretty well in the 2nd round. You just didn’t take advantage of the situation: you had a life lead, he was cornered. Maintain pressure next time.
You shouldn’t feel discouraged, though. There are plenty of times where people will get thrown off because their opponent turns out to be solid(or not crappy at least). What I do is pretend everyone I play against knows what they’re doing, even if they don’t. They’ll reveal themselves as the match progresses.
My match of the week, as well as a few questions. I’m starting to pick up Makoto. Can Makoto be viable without ever using SA2? And obviously, what are some of her better pokes and what am I doing wrong?
Yeah, Makoto’s SA1 is definitely one of the better Supers out there. Both don’t particularly change Makoto’s overall gameplan(rush down and make them sweat), but SA1 helps compliment her pokes much better. When you have Seichusen stocked and the opponent is in the corner, you have the option of going for a Karakusa, catching them in the air, or stop them from trying to jump with MP or cr.MK(both link to SA1 quite easily). Three options you have with a meter stocked, all covering high/mid/low mixups. That’s pretty damn good, and I didn’t even throw blocking or parrying in there.
And like I said, her overall gameplan doesn’t really change between SA1 and SA2, considering she mainly wants to get in there and rush down like crazy. She’ll have some trouble against certain poking characters, especially Chun and Ken(Ken also has the occasional SRK to deal with her BS). Once you get in though, don’t relent. The risk/reward ratio will be in her favor most of the time.
For years I’ve been playing Makoto as a secondary and in the past year I’ve pretty much dropped SA2 entirely. It’s definitely weaker than SA1 against most the top tier, while SA1 is a good choice against the entire cast. These days I only pick SA2 against slow characters or shitty players.
Sa1 a great super - Yep, easily in the top 10 best supers in the game
sa1 a soild choice against every character - agreed
sa1 better then sa2 against most of the top tier… I do not know if I would go that far.
