Kindevu, BAS, Otaku, Combofiend, Ruin, Kensou, Genius, AsianHitler, Alex, ElvenShadow, Cue, Hanzo, Fubarduck, R0B0T, and Floe were all in this tournament. Most of them have won and placed in multiple national tournaments for GGXX and Reload, so unless you’re joking I don’t see where you’re getting off saying there was nothing but scrubs for Martin to get 3rd. Granted he’s a scrub in life, he’s got skillz in Reload. Bracket gods had nothing to do with that.

I completely agree with Ranma0005. Like I said before, there were TONS of highly skilled #reload players in the tournament, and upsets were everywhere. So everyone knocking on Martin seem to be the ones who weren’t there. They don’t know how much he’s improved in a short period of time.

Hey do you mind at some point giving the details from the organizer side of TS5. We talked a lot before about different pool sizes and equipment and scheduling when the whole idea was announced, and i’m interested to know how it all played out i.e. how many machines you ended up with, how many players per pool, what ran late and what you’d probably improve on in running it again.

Probably the biggest problem I had was, being understaffed. The 8 pool system worked great, even with less machines because it made the pools a managable size. Of course that was because our event isn’t as large as Evo. The scheduling was aggressive, and would have worked if we had enough equipment. We simply didn’t have enough modded PS2’s and games(burning AE didn’t seem to work).
If I would have had all the PS2’s I wanted with working games, I would have been on time, that being said I also needed reliable people to run every seperate pool. Instead I had some no shows, and each person helping had to run 2-3 pools each on half the number of machines I needed.
Everything ran late, which was pretty much stemming from the previous day and an over exhausted staff. We did the best that we could with what we had, and I think it was a success. We definitely had a lot of faults and lots of improvements need to be made for next year, but I think everybody had fun, it was a blast even though I’m still dying.
