HUGE THANKS TO LAY FOR HOUSING ME AND DRIVING ME AROUND AND EVERYTHING ELSE. sorry i didn’t get to thank you in person the day i left, but i realized my flight left 40 minutes earlier than i thought and i needed to get to the airport. lay’s hospitality (and an hour of casual play with bas, otaku, and kindevu) made TX showdown the best tourney i’ve ever been to.
for the people wondering how i did in cvs2, i qualified out of my pool after a 3 man RR playoff between me, buk, and ronald h. so i’m in top 16 and then i face kindevu first round (which is exactly what i wanted, for real), played an even match, then jumped in with my juiced R2 bison against his R2 blanka, hit the fat jump in combo into scissor kick in the corner, people go ape shit, i flinch and miss my activation, and he beats me first game. then i’m too busy thinking about the first game and lose the second game. then arturo eliminates me. i had him BEAT that first game though, wait for the DVD.
pyrolee wins the SBO 3S quals but successfully loses at life, gg you arrogant bitch. "it’s just too easy, it’s not even a challenge."
biggzy and Dr. B- make love, not war, you both are dope cvs2 players.
eagle is good, props to combofiend for showing it.

TS5 was the first tournament i been to, and after seein how fun it was it definitely won’t be my last. Shout outs first of all to Joe R. for gettin me hyped up and interested in comin to TS5, and big props to you for wreckin in Mvc2 like i thought you would(3rd overall). Keep showin em how H-town do in MVc2. Shout out to Jumpee also, I know you’re pretty good at MVC2 at UH arcade but damn I didn’t know you were that good!! (4th overall). even beat Sanford in a round. (and that was cool lil team shoto mirror money match we had) Shout out to Preppy for tapin all the casuals. Even got one of my matches against wigfall on tape. Definitely can’t wait for you put the Ts5 footage on ya website. Big props to Ranma005 and Javi and everybody organizing the tourney. It was real fun and definitely I’ll be back next year. Big props to lee for whuppin jwong with dudley (that’s my character too), that was like some classic daigo-comeback vs. wong shit, i knew somethin big happened cuz everyone was cheerin and I could hear them all the way across the room. Also shout out to 50-fifty trap I learned some tricks with Dudley when i was watchin you play with him. I got Mvc2 when it came out 5 years ago but i’ve never been involved with the SF community like i am now. This was real fun, and next year I’ll not only be back but hopefully I step my game up enough so I can enter in the MVC2 tournament. Bottom line, shout out to everyone who came to Ts5 it was a real tight tourney. I’m out.

I believe if I’m looking at the bracket correctly, it says Martin Phan, aka Marneto got 3rd place at one of the largest Reload tournaments in the US, not to mention a tournament that rivaled Evo in terms of top players and comp.
If I recall right, Martin went to NEC and got 3rd there also. Alex got 4th here and at NEC. In fact the other people that should be able to say anything about doing anything about impacting the results are Destin and FlashMetroid.
I know this has been said before, but I’m gonna bring this question back out. To all the fools who are talking mess about Martin, what have ya’ll done? I only recall hearing 2 guys from Tennessee even leaving their state, and no offense, I haven’t heard of them doing anything besides a random GGXX side tournament when 99% of the people were there for Tekken. Ya’ll need to quit talking shit behind your stone wall caves and come out and see the sunlight. Whatever you guys saw from Martin’s gameplay a year ago, he’s gotten better, almost good enough to take down BAS. You wanna hate on him as a person, take that shit somewhere else. Hating on his tournament play? He got 3rd in one of the deepest Reload tournaments in America. I dare you to say one of your random Tennessee tournaments had more top level comp than we had at Showdown.
Now I didn’t want to have to post this shit, but all you haters are pissing me off. I worked my ass off for months getting this shit together, worked even harder the entire weekend to try and keep it all working smoothly, and now I get to read a results thread turn into 99% bullshit, 1% about the tournament.
