Your KOF pools don’t look too bad… except for OAR Raph. He put me in losers at FR(probably could have beaten him if I didn’t get DQ’d the first match). Also remember, a good bit of KOF players only entered for a shirt so none of your people might show up. Also why isn’t Raph seeded better? He got top 16 at FR AND he won texas shodown(evo qual).
I just don’t get the dude’s whole position on not entering. I mean I find myself to be a better casual player than tournament fighter. Half of that is because I don’t practice enough but that doesn’t stop me from entering our local tourneys when I can. It would make more sense if it was, “I don’t enter majors because I can’t even come in first, second, or third at my local scene.” Not, “I don’t enter either locals or majors even when there is a major because there aren’t enough high level players.”
Although I’d love the experience of chilling with everybody as a crew and getting hype at a major. Personally I don’t shell out the money to go to one because I fall into that category of not being able to come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd here (highest I ever placed was 5th in our local stuff). I don’t know if that’s an excuse or something logical. I feel like it would just cost me more money to go 0-2 lmao
I for one completely hate the pedestals people put fighting game players on and the “celebrity” that comes with it. I don’t really care what your handle is b, just press those buttons and lets go. I’m trying to get better, screw rep.
He’s not instigating or exaggerating anything though. Their scene treated Sara like crap, which is sad considering everything she did for them. They shunned and rooted against one of their own players in a tournament. They scared away potential newcomers to the scene by shittalking and insulting their skill during Marvel matches. This is stuff I’ve read in the facebook group as it went down. There’s other stuff I’ve heard, but I can’t list it due to hearsay.
But aside from all of that nonsense…
Thanks for coming out 645 and trying to set up a stream and everything. Your unorthodox Marvel team was fun to watch, and both of my friends wanted you to win after I was eliminated. Good stuff.
But I am not, just like Astaroth said, there are problems within the community and like him I have seen it unravel on Facebook as well as what I have heard through other sources out there. This isn’t me trying to start anything, it is just what it is on the Huntsville forum. I’m not sure how my comments are being misconstrued but I have nothing but respect for the guys down there because like I said, they have a very good core group of players with a lot of potential to wreck havoc at tournaments…
I’m sorry if what you think I am saying is hearsay but there’s a whole log of stuff on the HSV Facebook thread i am referring to. I apologize if my comment was misunderstood.
It’s cool. I have literally zero beef with any party involved, and I don’t have the interest or energy to argue about this very much. It just doesn’t sit right when grown adults who rarely if ever directly deal with each other in person let pre-conceived judgements or misunderstandings influence things in a negative way when both parties are doing good work, and that goes for everyone, really. I’m not Hville but I’m in the loop enough to know that there is no good reason for 99% of the drama you’re referring to to even exist in the first place. Just felt compelled to say my piece.

MWC is a grassroots effort and never tried to be a CEO style tournament so seeing all these other comments about it just makes me want to shake my head sometimes…but it is what it is with some of the FGC these days…

Well MWC was the best tourney ive been to and it was my best tourney performance yet. Jason you run tourney’s like a boss and im never waiting over an hour for my next match because having to wait so long gets me uninterested and i end up playing worse, which is probably why Im better in Nashville’s Tourneys. Btw i still think you’re a closet tekken player 
And MWC I had my best tourney moment ever. I entered marvel just because i could, even though i NEVER play that game ever. First match went down 0-2 and was like “ok i shouldnt play marvel” But then i won with un x factored vergil and i knew then i could come back. Let’s say i ran it back and got three straight to win the set haha. I went 2-2 in marvel so i’d say mission accomplished. I should totally play more marvel haha .
GG’s to all people I played in tourney and casuals. That was a fun tourney and i’m really leveling up my game especially in that fun little game called kang.

Man i’ve played vergil since the game came out so I started the trend haha. Also from day one ive played Felicia, and Morrigan too so my team’s hella gay. I had people actually xfactor to kill Felicia, When there was still Morrigan and Vergil to deal with lol

Believe it or not that is how some people view it as being successful or not; One of the quotes was in regards to it not be up to par on a “Road to EVO” event. The comparison was made directly to CEO and others went to UFGT8 conveniently forgetting about some of the other Road to EVO tournaments that were smaller as well.
