First you hide behind a monitor and shit on both the memphis and nashville community, shit on a major that does not meet your expectations even tho you did not even bother to attend, go behind my back instead of saying it to my face and run your mouth about how you beat me x amount of times and put me as you put it ( in my fucking place)
you wont support the local scene in any kind of way because somehow you feel memphis has no local talent that can meet your godlike expectations in marvel? oh i’m so sorry, you beat me a couple of games in marvel so now i’m not worth your precious time. so i guess that also means woot, bishop, johnny, james, rukus, carl, maxninja, majin, shinblade are not worth your time since they are well, just locals and not top players? and now you’re in here kissing ass and expecting everyone to just forget you ever said any of those things and hold hands with you and shit and welcome you with open arms?
Yep, sounds just like what a scrub would do and say.
You must not know how the tn fgc works around here bra. we are like family around here, not just a community. we shit talk to one another, we get angry at one another but we dont disrespect our own community like that or our own players like that. when someone in our family needs help of any kind,we all step in and help out, whether its helping run events, funding, helping players get to events, personal shit,it dont matter. so we dont have evo quality venues, prize, players, streams, etc. but we more than make up for better run events, more creativity, more responsible to’s and staff members, better commentators and more hype. you know you have something special when at a fg tourney you have more entrants for the mystery game than any other game, it turns out to have the most hype and everyone had a great time and no one complained and are looking forward to the next event. i will gladly take our so called local tourneys any day!
Yoooooo!!! I had mad fun at this tourney and personally I thought it ran well. Shutouts to everyone I met and played at the tourney. I hope my shit talking didn’t offend anyone it was just all love and fun. Sorry for that painful WF and GF I’ll try to catch the krone at Evo and for those goin to Evo if u see me come say hi and vice versa on my end. I’m definatly coming back to TN for more tourneys!!! back to sleep and D3
Thanks to Squab, Lycan, and DGA Gdlk Rushdown for promoting MWC at MBB and on stream as well as Jose getting the word out at Final Round and other tournaments…
DirtyLaBamba for always bringing tables, chairs, setups randomly, Sara for bringing all her madness, Phil and Ragnarok for setups, Jackie Chandler, milln, Alphakami for setups and running stuff…the event was great and I’m happy everyone had a good time
We’ll be working on finding a temp venue for fight nights weekly (looks like it may be near Rivergate Mall again) until we can reopen in August
GGs at MWC to Sara in ST (thanks again for free credits :D) and that Juri player I played in casuals on the dual-head AE setup.
It was good to see everyone again. Y’all missed out on Prince’s. I got the ‘very hot’ chicken and it was like eating an insanity pepper. My life is forever changed.
Congrats to everyone who entered, and especially thanks to the out-of-towners for making the extra effort to show up.
@Squabbler: wetworx sounds familiar but I don’t remember playing them or anyone who may have been on that team. It was a central or eastern division team if I’m not mistaken? Might have just started coming up when I was winding down around late '05. I remember a guy named Lance who used to play in CAL-i with me and I think he was from Germantown or Cordova? Played with him up at Lan Matrix before… but that was a long ass time ago, a few months after I moved here in '06.
Once again dude, I have no problem with your “scene or community” … I didn’t even know it existed until a couple days ago when I saw the post on SRK for “MWC”. I didn’t know this forum thread was here, someone told me to come here. I didn’t have “godlike expectations” for your tourney or expecations for “local talent” because like I’ve said now in about 3 different posts… I’ve never even been to a major. I wasn’t planning on going to a major tourney to enter and beat a bunch of people, I was interested in going to maybe play some casuals and see some top tier play. If you’re telling me you guys are all top tier then shit who am I to argue with you, but if you’re telling me that you can produce the same type of hype and game play as these bigger tournaments then I guess I should have came and watched right? All these people you name, I don’t know any of them… I just know I may have came in contact with them at one time or another at Sean’s pad and I never said I beat any of them, just you. I know you remember that night and I know you remember that I never said anything derogatory to you at all.
I’m not expecting shit from any of you nor disrespecting any of you. However seems like some people here can’t take an opinion without getting their panties in a twist. You all call me some no name scrub then why the hell does my opinion even matter? I’m just asking the same questions any random dude on SRK or Eventhubs would ask when they see the post about your MWC tournament. The fact that I live closer and may have played against some of you shouldn’t even matter.
One thing I can say is you’re right, I don’t know how the FGC community works. Not around here, or anywhere else… because for the last fuckin time, I haven’t been a part of it. And about going behind your back and all this shit… bro I met you one time. You want me to call you up or something so I can talk shit? That night we played I came on here and posted in some Tennessee thread specifically to you. I said good games, and I apologized for any misunderstanding since you seemed to be so damn angry. Of course, you didn’t respond and now act like you don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about. I’m not looking to kiss anyones ass, just making sure you all know where the fuck I’m coming from. Not on here trying to claim I know kids or act like I’m some champion… the only reason I originally came to either of these websites was because I enjoyed watching and playing Marvel and trying to find people around me who were the same.
Taken from "THE NEW TN THREAD"
DGA Gdlk Rushdown… appreciate them casual matches last night man. You obviously got the better execution but it’s Marvel, shit happens every now and then. Might have to check out one of these tournaments you talking about and see whats up. chosenst, Apr 9, 2012
“Lol I really don’t give a shit about any of your sorry little side tournaments. It doesn’t mean shit to me. If you can read, what I said was I’m interested in attending a major, playing against major players. Playing against someone named “Ivan Noltenius” doesn’t mean a damn thing to me.
By the way, who hosted Memphis Bawse Battles, I’m guessing it was a guy named “DGA GDLK Rushdown” right? I’ve played him… and I beat him quite a few times. Enough to make him start begging me to money match him. He wouldn’t shut up and just kept talking shit so I put him in his fucking place. I really could care less if anyone knows who I am or not because I’ve already had my career making money off of video games. Something you probably don’t know a damn thing about. And no, I’m not talking about little monthly tournaments, I’m talking about real shit like CPL and WCG. Go ahead and fall back kid, like I said before… playing you and your little house buddies doesn’t mean shit to me. That’s not the experience I was looking for.”
You saying you weren’t trying to be disrespectful is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard.
I wasn’t ‘trying’ to be disrespectful to anyone in this thread. That post was directed towards “Ivan Noltenius” who called me out and claimed I was bitching and being un-supportive for not going to some weekly tournaments and local bawse battles when I’ve never even heard of them. What that had to do with me having an opinion on MWC was irrelevant, which was the point I was trying to make to him. By the way, that post was made on the SRK post about MWC, not in this thread. Someone in that SRK post told me to come here and pasted a link to this thread, where my post was already being pasted and flamed. As far as me disrespecting DGA Gdlk… I think it’s pretty clear I don’t care for the guy. If you read that post where I talk about meeting and playing him then you will know why. Like I said before, I tried to come on here and smooth it over with him just to be ignored. After that I had no desire to go to any ‘local tournies’ or become a part of any scene he was a part of because the dude was a straight dick.
As far as the rest of you…G-Ram, DreamTR, Ruckus, NeoBlood, Coth_X, FlyMike, EricGGMusic, crs7298, Ragnarok, Based, w00t and whoever the hell else…I don’t know you and probably have never met you. Nothing I said in any of my posts, on here or on SRK had anything to do with any of you, and if you were offended I apologize. I don’t know shit about your community or your scene but none of my comments were directed towards anyone else besides the two people I referenced; Ivan Noltenius and DGA GDLK.
I go away for awhile and drama is being started without me!!?? SHAME!!
I think the best way to settle this is to…PLAY! How about you come to fight night this Wednesday and you and DGA can have a FT w/e for dough. I think $20 would suffice and I can promise you playing will squash any beef that has come up.
And meeting the people of your local scene will help as well. Take it from someone who is ALWAYS misunderstood in this thread (partially my fault) coming out and meeting cats will give them a better understanding of you and you will have a better understanding of how this community works.
Besides, the small local communities are the backbone of the larger community you see. If not for communities like Memphis, Nashville, and Arkansas etc, you wouldn’t have the fancy CEO’s or Final Rounds you think are cool. Smaller communities feed into the larger events by getting people interested and playing.
So yea man come out and see whats good here homie. Our community will make your living here in Memphis a little more tolerable!
chosenst: Ivan (Kinetik on these forums) was specifically talking about MWC though, one of our bigger tournaments for the year in Tennessee. You basically stated you only wanted to see “major” players play and you did disrespect MWC. The way you aren’t seeing it because you aren’t part of the local scene, have no desire to be (you’ve noted that) and then basically put the whole city on blast.
Tennessee does have high level players in all games here and when I say high I mean top 10 in the US for at least 3 games as well as high major placings (top 10) in every one of these tournaments.
The other problem is that you tried to basically compare dick size by saying you “made all this money and was involved in xxx xxx stuff living in California, etc”
I mean, I am 100% certain I lived in California longer than you and I competed and did well at the highest levels in the fighting games I played, but I don’t see why in any place other than for historical DREAMTR is old nostalgia and can play old games well has a place in here.
I mean, a lot of don’t know anything about the games you played, but you can’t pretend there aren’t high level players here when you haven’t bothered to go to fight nights and check our your local scene in Memphis, especially since you have lived there since 2006 as you say. I am sure you would level up and meet a good core group of players in MVC3 if you went to one of the gatherings (fight night)
@coth_x: ya you’re right dude, I probably should have chosen my words more carefully but I think the thing people aren’t getting is what I mean by wanting to play people. I’m not too interested in going to a major to play in a tournament as much as I am going to hopefully get in some casuals vs higher competition and have the opportunity to watch some quality matches. From that perspective, can you understand why I would want to save my first venture to a major for a tournament like FR/CEO/Evo?
@gdbell87: where do you guys usually have your fight nights at? I’m not sure if I work this Wed because my work schedule past Tuesday doesn’t get put up til later today but I’m always down for some Marvel. As far as money matches go… lol I already stated to DGA Gdlk about 5 different times, to his face and on these forums that I believe he is a far superior player then me. His combos and technicality far surpassed mine, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t beat him a few times which he obviously took offense to. That’s why when he asked me the first time to money match him I told him straight up that he was better then me and that’s not the type of thing I do when I play games. I was there to have fun and he pretty much killed that. I’m pretty sure we even smoked a blunt right before those games… which is why I was so thrown off. Wasn’t ready for none of that trash talk, I was too zooted. To be honest though, if that’s what it takes to help squash shit and get over all this I would put up $5-10 just for the hell of it.
@DreamTR: yo as the tournament organizer, you were the last person I was trying to offend. I have a great deal of respect for people who run events and tournaments because I’ve seen first hand the type of work it takes to get things done. All that shit about me being a player before wasn’t dick measuring, it was my way of saying that I’ve been fortunate enough to see some of these events in person. I would equate EVO to a WCG or a CPL or a Quakecon. Unfortunately I’ve never had the chance to go to EVO or FR or CEO, which is why I was so interested in MWC when I read about it. I was hoping it would be an event that spectators could enjoy just as much as those other big tournaments however I found out that it wasn’t. Again, there is a big difference between the level of a tournament and the level of play at a tournament. I mean to use an analogy, something like “Curleh Mustache” which is a pretty good Marvel tournament always has good players… some of the best, but that isn’t something that interests me because it’s not spectator friendly and there is only one game going on. Compared to some of these other big tournaments that can last three days and have top players in MK/SSF4/Tekken/Marvel/etc.
Again, I understand most if not all of you will stand up for the dudes that I was talking shit to because you know them and not me. Just know that the level of play has nothing to do with why or what I was saying about the ‘scene or community’ out here. It’s more about the size… I just wanted to have a chance to have that type of experience that I’m sure you have all had at a major tournament.
Man its not a matter of attacking people personally, you gave an opinion on pretty much the whole TN scene and on a big tournament that’s trying to do big things, when you really know very little.
Don’t get me wrong this is America and you can say whatever you want, but detracting and complaining on something you aren’t really involved in isn’t the way to get more people to show up. Plain and simple. You want top players to come down so you can feel good about getting to watch them play each other in person? Then contribute in some way rather than complain when it doesn’t happen overnight.
Now, you came in here and somewhat apologized so I can respect that, but please realize how easy it is for people to jump on a negative bandwagon when discussing things on the internet, and that your post(s) aren’t helping reach the very goal you want to achieve (going to a “major”).
