I hated FFNY. I don’t know why, but it just never sat right with me. My friend and I loved the original Def Jam. We played that shit for hours nearly every Saturday in 6th grade.

Maybe it’s due to the random framerate dropping/speeding up, unbalanced roster, random normals, Blazin moves limited to one per character for the sake of space, CAFs breaking the game, hybrid wrestling-fighting engine, or different KOs for each style.
Vendetta as a whole was a smoother, more polish game. People don’t like it it though cause it’s a wrestling game, where as FFNY has enough tweaks to the engine to be classified as a fighter.
Can u add Garou: Mark of the Wolves to the list? its a great game that deserves recognition as well

Garou received a port for dreamcast and ps2 on those years so i’d say it counts.

Shit, the drought started round my way in 1997. Then there was a lil boom in 98 where everybody played KOF98:DM for leik, a month, than everybody went back to Final Fantasies and N64. Problem wasn’t that there was a slow down in the production of fighters, the drought , from me, was no body wanted to play.
The 10 year drought isn’t about there being no good fighting games released. It is about fighting games becoming a small niche genre that most casual gamers didn’t bother with. SF4 brought casual gamers back into fighting games, and as a result other titles like Blazblue, MVC3, etc could become smash hits.
That is hugely debatable.

I only dabble in Marvel 2, but I like to pair them with Juggs or Blackheart. Thanos is not a bad choice, tho.

There’s an explosion and there’s an implosion. The implosion has already begun (could have been avoided), however, I don’t think it’s going to be that bad this go around.
