Tell FlashMetroid to learn Gouken

We all care about getting better. We wouldn’t have joined this forum if we didn’t.
Some of us just can’t take it to the extent of others.

Ugh cmon don’t let this get in the way of discussion I WANNA SEE IT.

I think gouken would have won regardless, gouken is the underdog. You see how hyped people were when infiltration brought out gouken at canada cup? The only other character that probably would have generated that much hype would have been hakan.

is gouken top tier yet

Are you the reewindo that gave metroid all that Dudley trouble? lol

According to some random sources, yes. He is SSS tier.

Let me check my ranked win rate and get back to you.

What? beat someone that doesn’t know the matchup, and then get his shit pushed in by someone who does?

Those sources are top players of other characters, I think their word means more than yours, I don’t care if you have 4kpp and have been playing gouken longer than flash. nevermind the fact that every other top player that has picked up the old man subsequently dropped him like a bad habit. As far as opinions go, guy who has been playing gouken for 3 days against bad players>>>>you. Sorry bro.

so how bout dat double P?

Haha it’s the Dudley from yesterday on the stream.

This thread makes me sad.

This thread is funny. Extremely funny, I knew this shit wasn’t going far from the jump.

You should all know it takes more than a damn week to learn Gouken… that was the most interesting part about this whole fucking thread imo.

word to my bro’

Flash is kind of a jack ass. Not saying he wasn’t provoked though. He kind of acts like an ass though regardless of criticism or compliments. He is good but kind of seems like a douche

well let’s just say this, what pisses me off most is all of these bullshit restrictions capcom put on him, some dont even make any sense, while everyone can jab jab jab ->combo->ultra while not only gouken’s jab sucks but it also jab jab into nothing, why?we only have like what two real combo starter cl st strong and fierce, not to mention most of our moves are unsafe on block. Capcom need to pull out the shaft that they purposely inserted deep inside gouken’s anus, to give him a fighting chance.

Gouken can do a throw into ultra…

Gouken is a zoning character with unorthodox combo set ups. You’re not supposed to hit confirm from medium distances with fast normals into a combo. That would take away from the type of character he is.

If Gouken is shitty, I wonder what Vega is…

Gouken’s a character who isn’t overly terrible, but no one could win evo with him in this state is all. He lacks truly abusable tools and most of the cast has an answer to his more solid tools. Solid is good and if you choose a character you think you can’t win with you defeated yourself at the character select screen but skill >>>> character always and forever.

and so does more than half the cast

the problem isn’t just the fact that Gouken’s worst match-ups are grossly unfair

Bring in a third party to witness Gouken Vs Akuma, and explain why Gouken is bullied around and eventually tipped over for a knock-down, and then locked-down and left blocking either a hammer-fist, dive-kick, or simply thrown, only to get back up for another round of “Gouken has nothing, while Akuma has this lock-down, in addition to teleports, air-fireballs, reversals and two and even three-hit ground-fireballs, combos and hit-confirms off of low shorts and jabs, and the list goes on”

Just look at the game Infiltration had against Tokido. Perhaps a lesser Akuma would’ve lost, but with two equally skilled players, this is how the match-up will play out by nature

Isn’t this a clear cause of dissatisfaction, and good reason for complaints and requests to actually make the match-up fair and fun, seeing as this is supposed to be a game?

Gouken definitely has some great strengths and ways to maneuver around and deal tons of damage, but against the majority of the cast, his strengths are heavily outweighed by his weaknesses - be it because the opponent can easily neutralize fireballs, or - well, that seems to be it…

I agree with a friend that said Gouken is the wrong buff away from being OP. I think Capcom has decided to err on the side of caution and leave him on the weaker side. Unfair but I can see the reasoning (if that is the reasoning).

Flash is an excellent player and has great reactions. He could win on ranked with a character that had no special moves (only normals), no wakeup options, and average health. But I wouldnt start using that character based on that. You can always overcome a bad matchup by being way better than the other guy (in some cases WAY WAY better). This usually gets highlighted at major tournaments because the players are so skilled that theres no way to be way better than the guys left towards the end of the tournament. Good players with bad characters make it only so far then get stopped.

I guess people would like equal footing.

Its never a bad thing to think up of ways to make a match up or character have fairer match-ups. But your example I think is more of a “nerf akuma” than a “buff gouken” situation. Akuma gives the majority of the cast those same problems as well. Sim, Rose, Vega, etc. suffer these common weaknesses more so because of Akuma’s tools and not their lack of. If Akuma is balanced, then the match up is balanced but at the end of the day(and this isn’t aimed at anybody) focusing on complaining and wishing for more tools instead of pushing your skill and character potential further is counter-productive and I think maybe Flash got that impression of this section for whatever reason. I also think that Gouken needs that exceptional player(apologies if he already does) that represents the best of what Gouken can do. I don’t think Infiltration, while being a godlike akuma player, is that representative that the Gouken community can look up to. So that may be the case why people regard gouken as underpowered?
