And I hate fighting against Alisa.
And i hate fighting against bryan.
where do you guys see miguel in terms of how he competes with the rest of the cast, ive been tinkering around with him and hes definitley very fun and very mean in terms of damage… but he has no fucking low. I watch some match vids from some korean tournament and he was stomping some ass, but it seemed like player skill more then anything.
Miguel is a poking character who can deal good damage if he gets a launch. He has 1 good low in d/b+1. But from I’ve messed around with him, he doesn’t seem to have a lot of tools. He’s very basic. Played at high level he looks awesome because he has a lot of pokes. In t6 you don’t need to launch people to win anymore and Miguel’s poke game is decent. On the other hand I think what hurts him is he has shit oki, his hopkick while it has decent range is -14 on block (ouch) and while d/b+1 is great it’s his only reason to get people to duck. At high level play this can probably be seen more often than not, so taking that option away kinda sucks for him. Japan consistently has him around low mid which I agree with. Japan kinda plays turtle style and turtling with Miguel isn’t going to get you anywhere. Korea however likes him. They play really aggressive which fits his playstyle a lot better and I’ve seen him in upper mid in their lists. Also his comman grab doesn’t knock them down. That kinda blows too.
I did test, I have her go straight into rlx then the move and every single time I landed the game said Counter Hit…
You said hop-kick beats the rlx launcher mix-up for a full launch. I stated it doesn’t. Try that yourself, and you’ll see it doesn’t.
Not trying to argue or call you out on it, just saying I’ve tried it many of times. Now, it may be different if chreddy is at a frame disadvantage(like b+3,3 on block), but from even it didn’t launch at all. Tested with Lee, Law, Bruce, and King.
IMO, Miguel does have a few decent lows, such as D/B 3 and D4 and for punish highs and high strings, WC D/F 4 (even though WS 2,2 is a better combo starter). I know he is not like a good Lili which will make you never want to crouch but there are still decent mix-ups.
I personally like his command grab since it gives frame advantage and can get people to start guessing, which he has plenty of tools to make you pay for your choice. Since his oki game is not as good as some, rather have the frame advantage.
I would say he is above average overall to the cast. He is easy to pick up, a little difficult to master.
d/b+3 is a poke and if you followup with the string you’re going to get low parried.
And by WC d/f+4 you mean FC d/f+4? If so that move is slower than snake edge and you’re in FC so it’s kind of obvious.
As for his command grab…make you guess how? With a low? He has 1 good low. Sure you’re on + frames but what are you going to do with it? low poke me? ok…
He’s not above average at all.
His lows are pokes if you put it like that. Up close it is better to do a crouch jab or something like that but up close he has better strings and such anyway than try to get a random D/B 1.
Yea, FC. Like I said, very situational. You really just have to throw them out there sometimes since you have choices, but limited to compare with the better people in the game.
When I mean mix-up, if they try something high, jab them out or doing something close ranged like B 1+2 to try to bait a counter hit. If they try to jab you SS u/f 4 em. Stuff like that, you really have to be creative since most people play a very basic Miguel. And honestly, damage is damage. That low poke you get in there has helped me win at times.
When I said above average, I did not mean close to top, with the like of Hei, King or something like that. I basically mean he is above the direct middle of the list by a little is why I said above average. The hitting like a truck is why I don’t say he is just middle of the road.
EDIT: Forgot about his best low in last two post. To me it is the 3 in the 1, 3 string since it can be used up close.
Did you read the part where I said I tested it? If you can’t get it, its all good. I’ll just put up a vid showing otherwise when we have sessions again on Wednesday so I have someone to help me record.
Don’t need a friend to test, pick defensive training and have chreddy just loop RLX 3~4 and RLX 4~3. No need at all for b+3,3. You can literally try it next time you turn on practice mode. Not hard to figure out the speed at which chreddy will repeat. She’ll go RLX, 4~3_3~4(whichever you pick), then stand up if the move ended in rlx. Then drop back into rlx and do it again. You can smack a CH every single attempt this way.
You’ll see it say it’s a counter hit, and it won’t give a full launch. Lee’s hop-knee from range zero literally went over the low, due to how low they get for the first hit on it.
Of course, why bother with any of that when you can just side-walk, and worse case scenario from here is only the first low hits from the 50/50. The launch whiffs, and you can take full advantage. As I stated, if you’re neutral in frames(isn’t b+3,3 a huge disadvantage frame wise), good luck getting a full launch vs that mix-up. That’s why I say that the risk vs reward is heavily in his favor.
Put it this way, if you watched the first set of the finals in the Team tourney at NEC then you watched spero go to work with eddy. How many times did he set up and land a RLX mix up. Now this was against fab, GM, and reallaw… Not a scrub team. I’m pretty sure if hop-kick raped both for free they’d have known that, because that’s where most of their life bars went.
Of course, there might be 1-2 frames where hop-kick might get the launch, and b+3,3 puts eddy at just enough of a disadvantage for the hop-kick to hit those frames, but if you’re neutral it’s not going to launch.
IIRC Lee’s knee won’t beat RLX 4~3 but it beats other shit. However low hitbox hopkicks will give you full launch on all options. Frame advantage or disadvantage doesn’t matter.
As for Spero beating people. He’s a great player no doubt but he just started playing again and he was playing the same way he played in DR. Why people weren’t owning RLX mixups I dunno, he wasn’t the only Chreddy using them. I’ll chalk it up to lack of knowledge.
Uhh, I’m from NY… I’ve played them all pf those guys. I watched the NEC feed. Not to discredit Spero, I am surprised he OCV’d team 4H in the team tourney…
I just put it in practice mode and had the computer do rlx 4~3 as well as 3~4. I was able to get a full launch most of the time with Law. This is obviously timing restrictive. When I mistimed the hopkick, I only got a float rather than a complete launch. I’m not sure what you are doing wrong, but I’d bet there is a timing issue on your end.
I’ll have to wait for someone to come over on Wed to record this to hold a camera, unless you know a way to make a video with just me. I don’t have a capture device.
So dont fucking whiff in RLX.
Problem fucking solved.
Jesus christ. You might as well say Paul is garbage if you whiff a PS. Of course the shit if gonna be useless if you arent applying it at the right moment. What the fuck is wrong with some of you?
EDIT: Im recording match vids as I speak. The problem is my camcorder converts them to this weird ass huge format that I have to then convert to a youtube readable format. So it might take a few hours.
excited to see:wgrin:
seriosly some of you fuckers add me to play tekken or marvel… i just got a ps3 and i dont have any fuckers on my friendslist. I almost miss my 360 cuz i know knucklez and dreadz would izuna drop me at the drop of a hat.
Did you not read? The only place I said whiff was SS’ing the low launch from RLX. The first hit connects, but it’s the second hit that launches and that whiffs on SS. :arazz:
I wasnt necessarily directing that to you.
Ill be done uploading some clips by tomorrow. I might not be playing the best there is in the community, but I show you mixup/pressure.
