can someone list the character tiers? top 5 would be good.
Top 5 according to Japan (in no order):
Law, Steve, Lilli, Lee, Lars
Notice how everyone who’s name starts with an “L” is top tier lol
These 5 aren’t that much better than A LOT of other characters, the game is VERY well balanced this time around. I think everyone can compete and SBO results have proved it (there was a Wang player in the winning team in SBO 2009)
No surprise there.
Hey russel is the psp version have any changes in gameplay compared to the ps3 version? and what is Kazuya’s BNB for T6?
Thanks :3
No changes with gameplay.
Probably the only difference is the modes.
Kazuya I don’t use but don’t think of tekken as having a BnB.
It’s a game where you can run your imagination wild.

I finally picked this game up after they fixed the netcode.
This thread gets a sticky now.
I want online Ranbats.
Online is so much better now.
The netcode on this stuff is really smooth, also, i think this is the best fighting game out now that the netcode has been fixed.
Might pick this up for xmas.
This confuses me. In this thread: http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=105988, there’s a list of all of Bob’s standard combos after particular launchers. Wouldn’t it make sense to always use the most powerful one after each particular launch?
Say after his d, df, n +2 dragon punch looking thing, what’s the point of mixing it up, isn’t there going to be one follow up that does the most damage?
Hopefully you can clear this up for me.
Positioning/distance to wall/difficulty
Although difficulty shouldn’t be a factor when doing combos.
The difference between the most damaging combo and the 2nd is usually no more than 4-5 but if you can get more damage why not?
Trite pretty much nailed it…except one more thing (yes Tekken is that deep)
some combos only work on a certain weight class…
there’s 3 types of classes:
small: all girls, wang and lei (i THINK maybe roger jr too)
medium: steve, brian, kazuya, DJ, etc etc…everyone else except the pre and fore mentioned small and bigs.
bigs: jack5, marduk
KUMA: Kuma/Panda lol
Yes, Kuma is just strange, some of your regular BnB combos that work for small/medium and bigs WON’T work on Kuma at all, so in a way, if your in a tourney and you are just doing your BnB out of habit, you might lose major damage due to this and lose the round (Tekken is a game where every hit counts or if you miss a wall carry and don’t get them to the wall you can pay for it).
Then there’s Kuma specific juggles that break the mould…stuff like Steve getting PAB b+1121 AFTER bounding Kuma on the wall, or Lee d+444444 that whole string lol
So in the combo threads on Zaibatsu, you should now understand what it means when any combos listed have a note at the end of “works on bigs only” or “not on smalls”, etc. If there’s no note at all, it most likely works on all weight classes (unless the dude didn’t thoroughly test it out).
Hope that helps!
P.S: Bob is great but takes some skill to get his hit confirms down. Otherwise he can be really unsafe.
P.P.S: Beginner level characters that you can master fairly quick with BnB combos are Bruce/Lili/Miguel and maybe Lars since he has safe mid pokes all over. Except for Miguel (though i think he’s an amazing tournament character), the other 3 are top tier in this game.
Lili and Alisa have the best Sidestep in this game, so if you are a movement oriented/spacing fighter, use them. You will see wonders with there SS (you can SS the last hit of Lars 2,1,3 try it out. Block the 2,1 then SS the 3. No1 else in the game can do this lol broke)
Wow Nagata finally broke and stickied this
I like it.
It’s all about Tekken
SF4 is the main game but Tekken needs some love.
Whoa, thanks man! Yeah I noticed that about Bob (even though I’ve only played against CPU). Felt like he was really quick but I was easily punished whenever the CPU blocked. Miguel is probably overall more badass anyways so I might try starting out with him.
I noticed a lot of Tekken players played on pads… and so far that’s all I’ve been using, even though I’ve got two sanwa sticks for PS3. I dunno, but movement feels a HELL of a lot easier with the pad, at the cost of a few face button presses being a little harder. For example, I could wavedash with the mishimas in DR on pad but never on stick. It’s probably stupid to start a debate, but is there going to be any negative consequence later on for being a pad player (in Street Fighter I can think of a bunch: plinking, fadcs, 6, buttons, less wrist crampage, etc). I guess I’m just asking for approval haha.
I disagree, Soul Calibur needs more love.
But Tekken is great too. =D
You can play tekken on pad just fine, lots of top players who use pad. Just use w/e you like
