TEKKEN 6 Bloodline Rebellion Thread - PS3/XBOX 360 Oct. 27, PSP Nov. 3

Tekken 6 did not disappoint today with its final’s. Can’t wait to play the game with stick in October:rock:

Cant wait to play the game this wednesday on stick :<

Hey everyone i was just curious which of the characters i play with from Tekken 5 DR is my best bet for Tekken 6 BR. Im currently pretty decent at Kazuya, Dragunov, King, and Steve. Are any of those characters not good in BR? I know Steve is supposed to be top tier i think? But i don’t like to always use the top dog haha.

I’ve seen nothing but respectable play from all of them…take your pick, man!

Also…I’ve played both VF and Tekken from the very beginning (not saying I’m top tier at either, but it’s important) and I can say you can’t play one with the mindset of the other…they never even felt the same. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Thanks for the info man! I cant wait for this game! :hitit:
Also curious, why is Tekken left out of the Strategy section of this site? no love?

Because there’s http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/forums/index.php

Do you guys think buying Tekken 5 for the PS3 will be good training to prepare for Tekken 6? I’ve always been a SF player and I really want to get into Tekken, would buying Tekken 5 be a good investment for getting a head start for Tekken 6 or are the games too different for it to be worth it?

Thanks

hey Utsusemi all the Tekken games are in the same vein. Most the characters keep the same moves throughout etc. I recommend getting Tekken 5 DR for download off the PSN store. Its a great game minus that it doesn’t have the story mode like in the regular Tekken 5

what console are you going to buy this 4… as a ps3 owner i want to say ps3… but just the same way i bought a ps2 for ttt i might buy a 360 for t6br for their stabler netplay.

Like any good fighting game, Tekken has A LOT of solid fundamentals that carry over from game to game that take a long time to learn. Playing DR will definitely help for T6. At the very least you’ll have an understanding of those fundamentals by the time the game comes out so you don’t feel lost.

A new game is always a new game though. But the basic fundamentals will always be there. TTT beasts are coming back and they’ll be right in the thick of things again.

Tekken sucks.
Brawl 4 lyfe bro.

Thanks for the responses guys, looks like ill be getting tekken 5, I really want to play Zafina though :stuck_out_tongue:

Brooklyn: I’m getting off the PSN store as Zero recommended.

Your post history suggests you are a massive troll.

I think everyone here agrees with ya, o wait no, this is a Tekken forum. :nono:

kaaaayyyyy ohhhhh!!!

It’s there, you just need to purchase the endings.

Ganryu was bottom in T6.0 not because he was a bad characters, but simply because almost every character was deliberately made over-powered and winning with pokes was really difficult (which also explains why poking-oriented characters such as Steve, Baek, Ganryu, Hwoarang and Nina etc. suffered in vanilla T6). He is still the same character (frame-wise) but poking is a perfectly viable in BR due to increased damage on individual hits and oki while applying tighter-scaling to juggles. Also, he has a safe homing-move (full-circular if you didn’t understand) which knocks down for guaranteed(?) oki. His 10f punisher (headbutt) now KND on NH (wall-splats if the wall is right behind your opponent) and is guaranteed after many situations such as CH 1 and u/f+1 on crouching opponent. His low-palm gives ridiculous guaranteed oki with a lot of damage, simply search for a BR Ganny video and you’ll understand. His combos are more consistent. I read that his d/f+2 is now unsafe at close-range and his f,f+1+2 launcher is now barely safe (-9?), a little faster and high, which used to be unsafe and mid.

In conclusion: Due to the nerfing of majority of cast, his improvements (e.g. punishment, guaranteed damage, oki etc.) and general system changes; Ganryu is a competitive character. Probably not top-tier, but I wouldn’t rate him lower than high-mid. In any case, tiers are really close in this game.

As far as buffering is concerned, it is much similar to VF but character-specific movements options (e.g. crouch-dash, roll-dash and sway-back etc.) cannot be buffered from block-stun/hit-stun/recovery as far as I am aware. However, first command of moves including generic movements such as f,f+X; f,f,f+X; b,f+X and f,b+X can be buffered. In addition, roll-dashes and crouch-dashes can be buffered in side-steps. You can even buffer half of the command of a move before stepping/roll-dashing/crouch-dashing and half afterward to successfully execute a move which has split-command such as:

(Devil) Jin’s b,f+2 -> b~SS~f+2
Julia’s qcb,f+2 -> qcb~SS~f+2
Wang’s d/f,d/f+2+4 -> d/f~qcf (roll-dash)~d/f+2+4 or qcf~d/f,d/f+2+4

The buffering period, however, is only half of VF5’s buffering period (i.e. 5 frames) if I am not mistaken.

I am just curious though, how did you become interested in Tekken? I assumed that you didn’t like it judging from your previous posts.

Quite true, Steve’s PAB (Peak-a-boo) stance is really versatile with a fast throw which seems to have shorter 1+2 break-window, low-poke, KND slow low with oki and high-crush launcher as well as his old f,b+1,1,2,1 string.

To be honest, some placements in the Korean tier-list were rather strange. Heihachi lower than other Mishimas? Baek being a top-tier? But then again, my practical knowledge of BR is VERY limited.

The wall-carry is the exactly same as it was in T6.0 (repeated iWS+1), it’s not a new move. Watch some matches of ‘only practice’ for a quality high-level Nina.

For the record, it wasn’t “disproven” in any way. Korean damage settings (+1/110%) aren’t that far apart either. If anything, it should have lowered poking-oriented characters’ ranking but they still maintained their positions. It did affect Julia, though. But you are right, it does make a difference.

Obviously not, but posting contradictory opinions in different threads just for the purpose of derailing would be classified as trolling.

For instance, posting in BB thread that “BB is just an overhyped game.” then heading towards SF4 thread just to over-generlise SF4 and making non-sensical comparison to BB while refusing any input, IS trolling.

Steve is comparatively better, but all of them are solid. Dragunov has improved a lot compared to his DR incarnation; Kazuya and King are almost the same.

P.S. I am a scrub. :bluu:

quick question, when you get a flashing red bar

do you get anything extra, like your defense and power goes up ?

Rage
From Tekkenpedia

*The Rage System was a system that was first introduced in Tekken 6, though a similar system, Netsu Power, had been implemented already in Tekken Tag Tournament. The Rage System activates when a characters health drops below a set point, whereafter the character enters “Rage” and has increased attack power. The set point was initially set to 10%, but after complaints of it being too high, Namco created a patch where the set point was decreased to only 5%. During Rage, a characters hands and feet will have an afterglow, which reportedly is default red in all characters, but can be customized into other colors. *

I searched through the TZ forums and no one really seems to know just exactly how much more damage you output in Rage mode. On TZ some posts said that you deal CH damage, some say that it deals 35% more damage, and some that you deal AND take 35% more damage. Not really clear information anywhere from I have found. Anyone got a dedicated Rage mode FAQ?

Honestly, it’s mainly due to Sega screwing over VF fans. I never disliked Tekken, I always felt it was good- just not as good as VF. Since you can’t play VF anymore really, and the Tekken people are more willing to play my stuff then the rest of the local community, I should giive Tekken a shot. On top of that, I never owned a Sony console except for a few months. (PS2 broke too easily- yet I’ve never had a problem with my 360)

Also Tekken was never really that popular the places I was at.
