You know flare gun isn’t all that bad actually. Even though the shotgun is good, i often just go axetinguisher after flaming someone. Maybe i should pull out the flare again, it seems to do more damage now
are you sure it wasnt a dude who was jarate’d and then flare gunned? if they really added then HIP HOP HOORAY!!!
ive alwasy used the flare gun instead of the shotty. i found its ability to hit far away peeps more useful. you just gotta aim more. and usually if you hit em you can forget about em cuz theyll either A: die or B: run away to get extinguished
I know that chart says otherwise, but I really think that Badwater is a more unbalanced map than Goldrush. I rarely see it actually finish because getting that last point (especially with fast spawn) is almost impossible sometimes.
I just played this game for the first time today. Most of it was me getting my ass kicked, but I also got a feel for many of the game’s classes. After playing with Heavy, Scout, Pyro, Soldier, Medic, and Engineer, Scout is my hands-down favorite. I can run fast and jump twice, so it’s just like playing Metroid Prime!
…okay, no, it really isn’t, but there are more parallels than just that. The pistol is vaguely similar to the Power Beam in terms of damage and rate of fire. Anyways, sorry to get off on a tangent, but long story short, I like this game, and I like Scout. BONK!
I think it’s a bit unbalanced against Blu team…in terms of getting to the point on time. takes longer compared to Dustbowl.
I mean yeah put teleporters…but damn if a Pyro comes to spawn and fucks up my enterance, or spy saps the shit out them, JUST when I started putting up the exit.
Yea I admit I like to win. So I choose Red team most of the time.
Egypt don’t need fixing from what I’ve seen. I mean the beginning is tough, holding off the red team’s snipers and medic-heavies, but once you overcome them, it gets easy to win.
Cp_Dustbowl- Never lost as Red on the map first map rotation of dustbowl before. All I do during set up is put my sentry and dispenser (upgrade em) right next to the circular tower thing. Its so efficient. I always get 15kill streaks from doing that.
Pl_Hoodoo- Never lost a Red. Engi once again. Build the sentry, dispenser, and exit all at the upper floor, right next to the checkpoint.
Other than that, I think the other maps are fairly balanced. Payload makes great Spytime btw. Killing spree on distracted people dragging the cart.
Yeah the first map of Dustbowl and Pl_Hoodoo needs fixin’. I’ve never lost as red in both places while using Engi.
Other than that, Red is still in much favor of winning IN PUBLIC SERVERS. The reason is because red team don’t need to use teamwork as much as blu. Think about it. There are all these lone engis, demos, snipers, and medic+heavies in Red. The blu will have a hard time overcoming them by themselves. But its hard to organize a huge rush to destroy sentries and shit with strangers. The red team can easily cherrypick the lone soldiers.
Thats just what I think, since I choose Red a majority of the time.
I actually have too but that was because I was on a good team. One that wasn’t populating 50% of the damn slots with snipers. As long as people play it like a TEAM, then you can rule ass at anything. Might be tougher but you can do it. And I typically take Blu when it’s a toss up between teams. Maybe I should start taking Red…
Dunno if anybody knows this, but friendly buildings (and maybe enemy buildings too) block explosions. To test this out, just throw a bunch of stickies behind a dispenser that’s near a wall (preferably during setup) and position yourself so that the dispenser is between you and the stickies. You won’t get hurt at all, even if you detonate at the peak of your jump, assuming level ground.
Also, dispensers can be used through walls. This is especially useful on the blue building ledge on Gold Rush (brown/blue attic stage), where you can build a sentry on the ledge proper and use a dispenser on the inside, which as a setup consumes less space and is more beneficial for allies. This is also useful inside the (left for red, right for blue) brown house on the Gold Rush stage where the cart needs to pass underneath the bridge between the brown buildings. If a dispenser is set up on the other side - and there’s usually a setup there - you can use it if you’re a spy or whatever.
Spies maybe. Because they’re mobile and they can take out a good number of people before the get caught standing with their dick in their hand. Every sniper I have played with (including me) usually plants their ass in one spot because let’s face it, that’s what snipers do. If I’m getting my ass handed to me by a spy, I’m more mobile and I’ll move around more or constantly be watching my back instead of down the scope. But yeah snipers are always sitting ducks.
Don’t get me wrong, snipers are my favorite class because that’s the one I’m easily the best with, and can contribute to the team the best with but at the same time it’s really fucking retarded when you get 5 or 6 snipers (all standing in the same damn spots too) on the same team because then there’s no one capping the points and you can only defend them so much with sniping. Not defending like a heavy, demo, or engie can.
