Team Fortress 2 - Heavy Update, New Maps, New Mode are all live now!

Yah… it’s getting pretty nutty lol.

I played sniper tons tonight, most of my deaths are from the ambassador now. The razorback is pretty much useless most games.

Yeah, the ambassador is probably a little OP now. I’m really not happy with the fact that the last two out of five games I played my team was 50% or more spy. I will never get the achievements for spy so long as my team never needs a spy. Pity. I really like playing vanilla spy anyways.

Don’t like payload race much either. However, I haven’t played since before Scout update so there’s enough new maps and shit that will keep me occupied at least until THE FUCKING SOLDIER SEES A GODDAMNED UPDATE. JESUS CHRIST I WANT TO SLAY THE TORSOS OF MY ENEMIES WITH ROCKETS AND SHOOT A SHOTGUN IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS.

lol I agree. IMHO the soldier really needs an update. Hes an effective character, but to me he gets boring FAST. Its like playing a slow match of UT with the rocket launcher. The shotgun is ok, but the problem is too many characters have it. Its kinda the weakness of original TF2, but once the updates are complete it wont be an issue.

The Demoman update is going to be really interesting. I love the sticky/pipe combo. Its so powerful.

I always thought that the Demoman would get a tripwire explosive, or maybe a landmine. This fits in perfectly with the demo, and it would be called “The Lockness”, or maybe “The Grim Bloody Fable”.

Engineer really needs an update. As of right now the sentry gun is piss easy to take down. The ability to upgrade teleporters is nice, but it’s redundant because a spy can just sap the entrance. There is nothing you can do, and you’re forced to spend your time babysitting. Actually, that’s what the engineer DOES spend most of his time doing. The Engineer should be using his shotgun more than his wrench, and should not be forced to turtle his sentry. The engineer update should be something along the lines of allowing the player to customize his/her own sentry. Everything from fire rate, to the turning and building speed, but there would be a downside.

For example, my sentry would be like this:

  • turning speed
  • firing rate
  • causes knockback on hit
  • deploys in 4 seconds (without wrench)
  • Cost 180 metal
  • unable to upgrade to lvl 2, and 3

Currently the sentry gun loses to:
Demo
Heavy (close range/bad sentry placement)
Pyro (close range/bad sentry placement)
Uber
Sapper

Knowing valve, the customize your own sentry idea will never happen. Anyone else think that the Heavy and Scout got shafted when it comes to unlocks?

As an engie player I would like to see a sentry that cant be sapped at all (or at least can shoot a little when sapped) and is harder to be destroyed, but costs 150 metal and does a bit less firing damage.

Im pretty sure though with the new engie update that theyre going to do something that applies to all buildables and not just one.

The scouts shotgun is way awesome. The sandman was catchy at first, but I didn’t want to give up my mobility. It definitely helps make the scout viable on defense though. The bonk is a bit weak, but killing engineers with their own rockets is awesome.

Sentries definitely don’t lose to Pyros though, at least non ubered, unless its put in a terrible place. As a pyro, playing something like goldrush, I want to make sure to take out the sentries when they’re still level 1 or being built, because once the sentry nests go up, unless a medic ubers me I’m basically useless. thats when I switch to demo.

I noticed that the updates gave classes different roles, and I figured that the engineer would go from defensive wall to offensive support. An unsappable sentry sounds pretty cool, but I rarely have a problem with spies because of my aggressive playstyle. I’m one of the few people who are against the sapper idea, then again my main class is engineer. I rarely build teleporters, for spies get to them quickly. Chances are I’m too busy trying to push forward. The engie update can go so many ways, so I guess we’ll have to wait.

EDIT: Yea Pimpwilly you have a point, but getting your shit wrecked from a circle strafing pyro is painful to watch. Sometimes I even wonder how the pyro was able to get my stuff to begin with. I rarely build up to level 3.Too much wasted metal at that point.

I don’t know about that. Combat engies are a novelty, and only work when other classes attract the firepower of the other team or when they’re near their sentry/dispenser so they can retreat easily. I’d imagine playing Engie without having to protect your buildings would be frustrating given their lack of specialized weapons, 125 Health, and baseline runspeed.

It can be frustrating at times, I’ll admit, but I find it very rewarding. Only downside is that I have to retreat often, and hide behind the bigger, stronger classes. :rofl:

Yeah. I’m not saying I don’t do it. The routine of whacking wrenches on your buildings and shooting into thin air, especially against a team with shitty spies gets monotonous really fast.

I usually join the fray mainly on the 3rd map of Dustbowl on defense. Some snipers get too comfortable moving around the corner to the second point. Playing combat engie becomes real fun when you’re in shotgun range of a sniper.

Not sure for tf2 actually. I can tell when someone is in css cuz that was my game, and i used to hack in 1.6. Actually i did in tfc i remember now. But nobody has ever really been accused as long as ive played tf2. I do gotta say, when this dipshit hs me with an arrow 2 times in a row…WHILE I WAS FULLY CLOAKED NOT MOVING…i got extremely irate.

Ambassador may be op, but only for people who can actually aim like they’re playin cs baby. Fuckin love it.

They really need to do something about natascha sucking, i mean i wont ever use it after i get my 50 scout kill achievement, but that gun is so fuckin worthless. And i have yet to see it slow anyone down.

Really wish engy update was next, demo and soldier are the 2 i never really play.

Yeah, it’s just faster getting the milestones, at this point. I mean, if you don’t have the time right now to work on milestones, you can always go onto a fake idling server.
