Team Fortress 2 - Heavy Update, New Maps, New Mode are all live now!

I think killing a building with a sapper is 2 points. I’m almost positive I’ve gotten 2 points for sapping sentries. Maybe it depends on the building sapped too? I dunno, get back to us with your test results. I’ll see what I can find as well.

You very well could be right, I don’t really pay that much attention to the point system, as it really largely irrelevant. I don’t think I’m going to be able to check much of this until at least Sunday since I have a ton of homework to do today and I’m out of town for the weekend. Maybe if I can get stuff done quickly tonight.

No, I just have FAR too much time on my hands to learn game mechanics (and sometimes break them).

point system explained

Haha, it’s funny when you think about it. As a spy, getting 2 points for the EASIEST method of killing is a bit backwards. They should give me 2 points if I manage to pull off a kill with the revolver. THAT takes skill.

But yeah I try not to keep up with the points either. When I do, I get too focused on trying to get points instead of actually trying to help my team cap/defend/whatever. As I mentioned when I play a scout I almost try to completely avoid confrontation and just get caps. I got 2/3 of the caps as a scout last night for my team and didn’t kill anybody. So I had very few points, but was MUCH more helpful to my team than if I was a spy just out for kills.

My points looked fucked up, my second highest point is 7 with Demo. My highest is Eng at 21, quite a substancial difference.

If you think thats bad, my highest is 78 with engineer, second highest is 22 (2fort, teleporting back and forth because I was bored.)

You know, its weird, I looked on the TF2wiki for that, and I couldn’t find it. Is there no direct link from the main page?

I’m in the East.

Ever since yesterday (Oct 26), after Steam’s routine maintenance, I’ve been getting this: http://www.auburn.edu/~goldema/steam.jpg

Constant disconnections from Steam, as well as in Team Fortress 2 when I refresh the server list I only get about 15 servers. Two days ago I was seeing hundreds of servers (well, I assume it was hundreds, I never looked to see how many I just knew that it immediately shot up to high numbers).

weirddd I don’t know what to tell you I did a search and didn’t see much. But the steam boards are really hard to search around in…

Yeah from what I’ve found, I’m not the only one having the Steam connection issues. But nobody else seems to be having trouble with the server list.

One of my favorite servers doesn’t show up in the Internet list anymore, but I can still get to it through my History list. Doesn’t make any sense to me. =(

Finally got a mic. Its nice to be able to communicate with people.

TF2 Patch for 360 released

Picked up the orange box for pc today, loving it so far. The only problem my computer is having running the games is for some reason when a level loads in either portal or TF2 it just restarts. I don’t get any chop but the thing just conks out. I think I need to run a virus scan or something.

I’ll post up my Steam i.d. after I’m less abysmal.

When I first got the game, I had the same problem. I’d wait for a TF2 level to load up, and riiiight before it finished loading, boom desktop. I had been ignoring the warning Steam was giving me about updated graphics drivers. I tried updating them to see if that would fix it, and it did!

So try updating those drivers. If that doesn’t help then I’m not sure. It may be a resolution thing. Try running the game in a window and see if that helps. To do that, in Steam right click on your game, go to Properties, click Set Launch Options, and type “-window” with no quotes. This isn’t to say that you will always need to run it in a window, cuz that would suck. But if it works in a window, then you know it’s a resolution issue and can then fix that.

I was thinking my drivers need updating, but for some reason the ATI website doesn’t seem to have any updates for my card. ATI Radeon Xpress 200 version 6.14.10.6571. I’ll keep looking though.

Bethesda designer makes Portal level, it’s a pretty cool one. I know how to pass it now, but Having a bit of trouble with the energy ball part. Download this NOW if you want some more Portal love!

Looking for more familiar people on Live. If any of you guys play OB on the 360, drop me a line with your SRK handle. My ID is Vizince.

I usually roll with my [IRL] friends, a goofy Korean and a maldroit caucasion. We’ll have some good times.

Nice level by Bethesda. I just beat it. Tough! It’s as tough as some of the challenge maps.

I was stuck the longest on a part that wasn’t even a puzzle lol. I spent forever trying to figure out the first thing to do. I never saw that button to re-angle that platform lol.

Oh my god I feel retarded. I really can’t seem to figure that level out, I’m at the energy ball. WTF?

You see where the energy ball comes from of course. You see where it needs to go right? You know whether or not you’re going to need portals to get the ball to its destination right?

You should be able to visualize the FARTHEST path the energy ball can take (assuming you open doors for it). Take a moment to walk this path so you know where the enery ball will go, and you should be able to figure out how to get it to its destination.

There is more than one way to do it, as a lot of people are complaining about the timing being too tight, and if you waste more than a couple of seconds, the energy ball will disipate before it reaches its destination. The way I did it, I had plenty of time to spare, and it wasn’t too complicated either. So I must have done it differently.

Hint: Once you figure out the farthest place that energy ball will go before it turns around, just know that you will need to put a portal in that spot.
