fuck hooodooooooo
i hate pipeline
I’m on the fence about pipeline. Usually I don’t like it, but I do admit that it works really well even with 32 players. For that, I give it some credit. Still, with our best being 6v6 I don’t think pipeline is a great map for us at all.
Looks like Valve is too busy working on L4D2 to give TF2 some attention aside from the Halloween event and Bill’s hat. So, it looks like the Veteran’s day, Soldier’s update info was a myth.
Also, Pipeline is miles better than Hoodoo. I mean, at least there’s a chance of Blue winning the map.
It was a pretty obvious myth
I don’t think valve would try to compete with another game they’re working on, and modern warfare 2 for attention with a TF2 update.
and they usually start updates earlier in the week to get them revealed and out by the weekend
I think they’ve been working on it though, so I don’t think the wait will be as long as it was for the scout update.
I’m hoping for sometime between mid-december and early mid-January
Mildly retarded logic, sir. I play hoodoo all the time on sourceop, and it’s back and forth who wins…seriously.
They shoulda had that bill hat drop available for vet day, or people who sent in proof they are vets get a free fuckin bill hat, kinda like how i got free food at applebees yesterday.
Woulda been sweet.
You know how on 9/11 about half an hour after the towers had been hit there wasn’t a single thing on the tv that wasn’t just news footage? Everywhere you went, people were talking about it, the phrase “Have you heard?” was probably never more used in America than on that day. It was insane.
Now, when Valve mentioned that you got Bill’s Hat by preordering L4D2, something kind of similar happened. And it pains me. Everywhere I went, I’d be playing a simple round of cp_badlands and I’d hear “BILL’S HAT, BILL’S HAT!”, “HAVE YOU HEARD GUYS?!”, it was insane. I went onto the message boards and there’d be about 55,000 ethics experts on the art of GIVING AWAY VIRTUAL HATS.
I’d really like it if, for me, we could never talk about Bill’s Hat again. I think I’ve learned more about Bill’s Hat than the War on Terror.
badwater
may just be the best map ever
Favorite type of match:
control point
KOTH
Favorite maps:
Dustbowl…just fucking ownage.
Goldrush
KOTH Nucleus
CP STEEL
CP Well
Warpath…but only if there is A LOT of players
Class I’m looking to get better at if I wasn’t maining Medic:
Soldier…because he’s cool.
Badlands is my favorite map. Every class plays well on it, even on pubs, and there are lots of strategies for it that will work. Keeps it from feeling too samey.
I also like Granary a lot, but I seem pretty alone in that.
I love Arena and CTF. I know there’s an arena version of 2Fort that’s beastly. But the best Arena map is lumberyard. No question.
Man I love it when pyros don’t know how to use a compression blast.
Hardy har har.
I’m pissed they don’t have warpath in regular rotations. Was it not a regular map in tfc cuz I swear it was.
I like koth maps, but i tend to lag more on those with 33 people running around a small ass map.
To each their own, I personally enjoy Steel over Hoodoo.
Well, Valve indirectly did that by giving the people who pre-ordered L4D2 the demo like the day after Borderlands was released. I also think that MW2’s attention is going to die down due to L4D2 being released next week. Although it’s most likely going to be PC gamers playing L4D2, as I’ve heard that MW2 PC version is pretty bad.
Well i wasnt saying i love hoodoo, i don’t hate it and I’m not sure why everyone does…but I see both sides win all the time…unlike that one fucking map where the third defense is a joke. If you last more than a minute defending the cp it’s a miracle.
Shit why can’t i think of that map name lol
The PC version of MW2 is basically the console version…
Hoodoo has statistically the worst record when it comes to Offense winning vs Defense. I would have to agree with that according to my experience with it.
I’ve been thinking on and off about going into map-making… I think by now I know what’s up with this game and what makes it tick and more importantly improve on problems I see on other maps, such as the difficulty of being on offense. I have no idea what’s in store for me should I go into this venture though, I can only imagine how hard it is to design not only a good functional map, but also a good-looking one as well. I mean look at this map-making contest:

Makes map-making look hype as hell. I wonder if I have the potential to produce that kind of quality.
It’s not hard at all. The problem is slogging through a month of hands on experience, and the obtuse way the engine works. (Why does a door need 4 brushes to work?) Having inspiration is very difficult, once you get past the “I can build a room and compile it!” stage.
ps. also, the map community will help you 1% of the time, and good luck getting any real critique. Making a balanced map is hard, just need like a playtest every day + lots of patience. :c
If I had a better graphics card, I’d get into map making.
