They’re fun on 2fort, no doubt, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t terrible. :lol: I doubt we’ll be seeing them in league play.
They are useful in certain spots. One decent sniper can completely stop the flow of troops coming down a single tight hallway very effectively and from a better distance than anyone can fight back.
This shall bring back memories of my MegaTF days.
I liked to snipe, but I was not cut out for it. The real professional clan snipers were pretty much aimbots.
I was a decent offensive soldier.
Maybe one of these days I’ll describe the bump, set, spike flag capping technique we used to use in matchplay.

haha so apparently I did update but it wasn’t the latest update. It’s all good now 
picked it up this morning with my best buy discount…though i think i made a bad mistake, since im running a dual core processor at 1.6 ghz, with the minimum requirments for at least processor speed being 1.7.
the games run, but like in portal, when im about to head into an elevator, it gets choppy as heck and with the death pools it chops up some more. Then TF2, i think if i can get on a server with a low latency ill do fine, but ive had some hard times, even though ive put all my graphics options at low.
I heard they are updating the source engine to take advantage of multiple cores, so will that help my problem by distributing processes to both my processors?

I’m down for a league team, but let’s let the game grow a bit before looking into that kind of thing. Besides, there’s only one official CTF map out right now. -_-
Holy shit at portal. I just went through the game in one sitting and I loved every minute. I’m about to try TF2 later with some friends.

Ok, bump set spike for 2fort5:
5 man defense… does… whatever defense does (I was Offense in my clan, so I only know the offensive gameplan).
5 man offense. A scout, a soldier, a demoman + 2 optional (another scout and a heavyier class is good, or supportmedic). I was the soldier.
The soldier enters first, his goal is not to cap the flag, he is the bump. His goal is to get there defense to start talking, and die a spectacular death, hopefully killing whoever is guarding the upper spawn ramproom. This opens the door for the “set”.
The “set” is the demoman, and whatever heavy support class is with him. These guys follow in the soldier’s footsteps and then proceeds to CAMP the hell out of their ramps / left spawn, keeping the path open for the real cap attempt, the spike.
The spike is a fast class that makes a legitimate attempt at capping the flag. Meanwhile, the bump player should be coming back to help the “set” camp and raise hell.
I don’t know how this strategy would work in TF2 now that there are no grenades. Demomen used to be able to MIRV the hell out of places and really control space.
This just wont work in TF2, in most cases, against a communicating team. Your offensive squad needs a spy, generally, to disable medics and maybe some sentry guns, and a medic to help a solider or demo take out sentryguns. If they decide to turtle up in the info room, things can get trickier. You almost need an ubercharge/pyro or heavy to get in and waste em all to make way.
