TE Fightstick Button Issues?

button issue

I have the rt/lt button problem as well. I unplug and plug and they are fine. My guess is that it has something to do with the pcb and heat since it only happens after i play for a while. Its been happening off and on for three months now. It’s very random. Sign me up for the mass email.

Yes. This is a great idea.

Dear Madcatz,

Same issue here… RT button doesn’t work sometimes… if I plug-out and plug-in it works again… what a scandalous issue! :shake:

I’m having a similiar problem, my x-button doesn’t always register, so I have to give it a hell of a push to get it to start registering again, it’s a real pain in the ass when my lp craps out in the middle of a match though. Is it difficult to swap the buttons? I’m not sure if it’s just from thousands of dragonpunches or what but it’s driving me nuts. I got mine in that april batch from gamestop.com as well.

I have the MC TE stick for the PS3.

I have had two button issues on two different TE’s to this date.

The problem appeared to be with the wiring bundle in the TE base. The wire bundle goes directly underneath the buttons and sometimes it gets shifted directly underneath the contacts of one button and causes an issue where the button won’t depress – ie, it gets stuck in the “down” position.

The simple solution I found to that was to put a large zip tie (also called cable ties, plastic cuff links) through the furthest two right holes in the plastic sheet under the wire bundle coupling connects. After getting the zip tie in position there, I encircled the button wiring bundle and zipped it up. Now, my wiring bundle sits to the RIGHT of the buttons further down against the base of the stick and the button stick issues are resolved – hopefully.

The button sticking issue has only happened to me twice so far. Seemed to be a bigger deal on the new Limited Edition SF IV Femme Fatale TE joystick I got today. It only happened once with my first MC TE stick and I seemed to be able to shift the wiring bundle out of the way on that stick without resorting to a zip tie. Of course, I didn’t disconnect all my buttons on the original stick like I did the new one today! That may explain why it was a bigger issue on the new stick – ie, the wire bundles shifted a bit and the overall shape of the bundle was altered. Still, the zip tie was a neat economical solution to my problem.

Same is happening to me. My LT and RT stop working mid match. unplugging and replugging works but THATS A PAIN!

Oh, and this is a COMIC-CON stick for sake!

My X button is starting to stick. :frowning:

just goes to show that their pcbs are still faulty even with the newer releases

Blargh, this just started happening to my TE. I guess I’ll have to swap LB in to the RT spot and have RT and LT on the right, where I don’t use them

I know the TE comes with Sanwa parts, but are they OBSF-30? I have an SE, but recently the buttons had been sticking and just not registering like you guys. I got my new buttons (Sanwa OBSF-30) and I don’t even have to press down, I love it.

They are OSBF-30s, the problem is on the PCB and not the buttons themselves

Boourns. I was holding out on buying this stick forever because of the button issue, but I caved and grabbed one recently. Of course, RT and LT die on me within a couple of days.

I was wondering if swapping out the ‘all-three’ shortcut buttons (as some of you suggested) is actually a legit fix for this problem. Has anyone done it and still had issues, or does this seem to fix things for good? I don’t play with those buttons, so I wouldn’t cry (much) about losing them.

I have had this problem a few times mid match, but it’ll just start working again and I’ve never had to unplug to get it working again. Really strange.

After this and gl0ry’s stab at installing a fresh PCB from MadCatz, I’m getting more and more tempted by the idea of selling off my TE stick and buying an HRAP EX instead. And I already requested for a replacement PCB last week too. This is just bush-league.

All these people having problems… My TE has been fine so far (only had it 2 weeks), by the looks of this thread i’ll have to keep my fingers crossed i dont get problems in future

Glad i have a 2 year warranty

EDIT… it seems like its only the 360 versions with problems, i knew i should have got the PS3 stick :frowning:

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but to people who actually like their TE stick (like me) and want to fix it… There is a good way of doing it by using another PCB.

There is plenty of space in the TE, and I ended up using madcatz fightpad pcb. It was a pretty easy job. I connected the PCB to my cthulhu, and used the wiring harnesses from the terminal bay and connected them into the cthulhu terminals. Most of the job was plug and play. The only thing that required soldering was from the xbox pcb to the cthulhu A-H/1-9 points. Oh and also the VCC, and D-, D+'s

I just swapped my RT for LB and reconfigged the games, since I don’t use the 4th buttons. Oh well.

Weird i’ve had two TEs since launch and they’re still working fine.

Oh man! I JUST ordered one. This is NOT good for me to hear now.
