I guess one would be… shocked at the quality put into Madcatz’ products.
I have this too in the UK.
bought it second hand (FIGHT STICK TE), the RT button (FIERCE KICK) definitely does not work sometimes, with me its sneaky, it won’t work for like a split second, so its very hard to diagnose as you sort of end up blaming yourself, but after a while, you start to realise its the stick.
I also have the EX moves coming out sometimes when I know I only press the ONE button.
Also I’m having real trouble doing ryu’s super and I’m an expereinced player, so to do ryu’s DP everytime i mean to do a super has pretty much made me use guile atm. Simple directions, but I accept it could be the 4 ways gate, to which I will look into replacing.
Why they could not include this bit of plastic so customers can choose i do not know.
I’m going to buy a new sanwa stick for it, hope that cures the direction problems as it probably had a hammering before i paid over the odds for it.
The button issue is not that bad, its quite rare, BUT I bought this stick cos i heard there were issues with the SE. I feel a bit pissed that despite paying for the TE, there are still really basic, unacceptable issues.
I have already opened it 3 times looking for answers I know I can’t do anything about.
I jsut don’t get why this is happening ,it could be a matrix problem, on keyboards, certain one’s will malfunction in FPS games if you press too many combinations at once.
It would not surprise me in the PCB’s are somehow cutting out if too many combinations are pressed at once. Just shooting in the dark, but I will certainly be keeping an eye out for another stick if I hear of a faultless one and just sell this.
A single mistake in street fighter can cost you a game, and its unacceptable to have hardware failures.
Don’t get me wrong its really nice, but for the money I paid. I don’t expect a single problem and it has not been that way, despite owning the TE.
stop. saying. the jlf in the te. has a 4 way gate.
goddamnit, if you can do diags then it’s an 8 way.
Wrong!
The stock one is jap style, its a sqaure gate in the sense that it has 4 main defineable points.
The octo gate, used in USA/EUROPE has an OCTOGATE so its easier to find the directions for many people who like me were brought up in arcades with those sticks.
No. You’re wrong on so many fucking levels it’s not even funny.
- You can move in 8 directions on a square gate.
- US Sticks don’t use a gate. And in a happ stick(excluding the P360) you move a square actuator in… a square. Believe it not! I’m using one right now for MVC2.
- It’s actually HARDER to find the diags on an Octo-gate, because they take up less space on the actual gate.
Please know what you’re talking about before you post.
I Have/Had the same issue with my SE stick and Now thanks to Socratic for pointing me in the right direction, I’ve had a drastic improvement/elimination of the issue. I plan on switching out all the Balls in my buttons to something more reliable or maybe polishing them in some fashion.
Check out my thread, it’s a relatively simple Procedure… Just be careful of the springs… I lost one, thankfully I got some buttons in the mail on the way and some LEDs… :lovin: gunna make it glow per push !!!

the TE buttons are Sanwa… says right on them…
I just wanted to check, is anyone here having issues with a PS3 stick? Every post I’ve seen mentioning a system has been 360. I came across this thread last week after buying a PS3 TE, spent about an hour putting the stick through its paces in training mode, haven’t seen an issue yet.
I posted this in another thread that seemed to be related this one. I pose the same question to you guys, any success with after installing a fresh new PCB sent to you by madcatz? I’m having the same issues (RT not working after few min. of playing, green light on xbox button stays on after shutdown, tried switching the wires for a quickfix and no sucess either…reconnecting works too, but the RT just turns off again w/ time), and it really is frustrating …
Haven’t gotten my pcb yet, but the only person i’ve talked ti who’s got a replacement claims theirs has been working flawlessly for over a month now but who knows if that can or will go south again.
True, if we don’t know the cause of the problem in the PCB, then how will we know it won’t happen again?
When I opened my stick I saw that the two screws on the left and right of the PCB are melted down or something, so how exactly am I suppose to remove them?
Also, how long have you been waiting gl0ry?
Hi raeli. Just a quick question. Do you alternate between using the happ and a japanese stick? Been wondering what habits players who use happs have when it comes to these things, and if you guys are so serious that you practically use only one stick. Heh.
I’ve got a TE on the way, but I will probably want to keep using my Eurostick at the same time. I kind of like the american type sticks better in some ways (also the concave buttons), and will most certainly use it for most non-fighting games.
Edit: Btw. This whole thread makes me wonder how many do NOT have a problem with their TE sticks. Makes me have second thoughts about the purchase to be honest.
I have waited a week. It should be coming in this week. As far as melted down, I have no idea what you mean… mine are fine. If you mean that red blob, it’s just kind of like glue to show whether or not you’ve tampered with it.
Well, I love my Eurostick, but I love my JLF even more. I can do everything on both sticks using the same motions (more or less) and not have any problems. Only complaint is that with my eurostick my wrist gets tired very very fast when playing SF4… (I play Rufus and spam triangle jump divekicks on people.)
I know people who’ve had a lot of problems, and a couple who’ve had none. I’ve had my fair share of problems, but I still don’t regret the purchase.
Thanks mate. Appriciate the feedback on these matters. I think I’ll just enjoy the waiting instead of “worrying”. After all we are some lucky sons considering the options we have these days. Cheers.
It’s probably this glue then haha… Mine is black so I thought it was melted or something.
I’m wondering if people hare having button issues when they play SF4 or does this happen with other fighting games.
RT/LT buttons stopped working all of a sudden about 30m in game… Have to re-plug, very annoying.

I ranted about these problems, they happen in other games too LPT
i had the same problem.i found out it gets sticky feeling because when you close it the wires push up on it like theres alot of tention. if you ever open the cover and tap on the buttons when its open its perfect.then when you start to close the stick it starts to get sticky.you have to readjust the wires soo they dont brush up on the bottom of the buttons if any of this makes sence
Anyone want to do a mass/signed e-mail to Madcatz to fix this?
