TE Fightstick Button Issues?

I got my 360 TE in April and have never had any problems. However just today RT stopped working twice. Disconnecting and reconnecting the cable solved the problem. Time to swap RT and RB I guess.

I cancelled my order on a TE stick after reading this post. :frowning:

Money’s just too tight right now. I can’t drop 190 (CDN) on a stick that seems to have a problem with no real solution.

I have a modded SE that’s holding up perfect, and I guess it’ll have to do until I can be sure of a bigger and better stick.

So, the RT on my TE stick kept going out. I was having the same problem as any number of you here. I was doing the “unplug” and plug back in trick. Then it started getting worse. My TE stick stopped working all together (sometimes the guide button wouldn’t even light up even though the stick was on) and I was about to become frantic. Literally everything stopped working as if a bugged RT was jamming the whole stick… then I had a light bulb effect.

I’m only using 6 buttons so I swapped the LT with the RT and now I am having zero problems. It’s stupid I had to resort to doing that but oh well. I don’t feel like doing any maintenance on my board yet (if/when I do I’m going to make it so it works for PS3/360).

Anyways, if Madcatz won’t help you - doing that trick works out perfectly.

Thanks for that fegis! Never considered looking at Amazon as it is not always the cheapest place - just goes to show how much we are being ripped off with all the other places still retailing at 150.

Anyway, regardless of whether it’s only an unlucky minority that are posting about problems with their TEs, I’m still not prepared to take the risk - especially as I have a couple of modded SEs that are working perfectly well. At least with the faulty stick and buttons on the SE, I knew that a quick switch to Sanwa parts would put it right, the TE already has the Sanwa parts so I can’t fix it myself!!!

Shame too as I quite like the design of the TE and was hoping to pick one up as soon as all the hype died down.

after about 40 hours of game play over 11 days, my new xbox version TE, being used on the PC, had the LT and RT problem… i was not willing to wait if the problem gets worse or better, so i got an exchange from a local Game Stop… somehow, i’m kinda expecting this new unit to have the same problem as well in the near future… i’m thinking of just returning it and just waiting for the Hori SA…

i really like the looks of the TE compared to the SA… has anyone gotten a reply from Madcatz…? i e-mailed them as well but have not gotten a reply… i really want to give this stick a chance cause i really like it but i’m wondering how they would be able to fix this if they don’t even know what is causing the problem…

I’m hoping they figure out what the issue is (I’m guessing it has to do with the PCB) fairly soon, I’ll gladly ship my stick to them once they do so they can fix it and I won’t have to worry about any sort of failure in the future.

RMA for button problem

Had a similar problem with the “Y” button. Called Mad catz. they asked me to switch cable between X and Y to see if the problem was the cable/pcb or the button. My problem was the pcb so they will send me and new one within 7 to 10 buisness bays. They also confirmed me that since they asked me to open the case, my warranty won’t be voided.

I just swapped the wire that was RT(roundhouse) with one of them… either the one that was 3p or 3k. Regardless.

I have 6 button plexi, so…

Problem solved, stick plays fine now… Don’t have to deal with that shit ever.

I have the same problem too with the RT, just doesn’t work period.

i had a problem, out of the boy the 3rd kik buttons was fked up, it would get stuck, and i need to pop the button out, or it popit self out in lyk 10 sec vry slowly, so iopened the case up and added a new button, problem solved

Quick question.

Yesterday while playing Garou on a TE stick i got something similar as the problem that Acer1236 and raeli were having where the controls got stuck on a left/crouching, nothing responded and the turbo/guide lights lit up like a Christmas tree.

After unplugging/replugging the stick everything worked again and i played for about 3 more hours without any more problems. Today i also played Blazblue for about an hour with no problems.

However i noticed that when i turn off the Xbox the turbo lights lit on. They are very, very dim and i have to get very close and get in a dark place to make sure, but they do turn on when i turn off the Xbox.

I checked on my other TE stick and this is not happening there, so i wanted to ask if anyone has noticed this before happen on their sticks?

i solved the RT problem by rewiring to RB, but I’ve started getting the replug in your controller message now. My TE stick also stays lit up after I turn off my console, requiring me to replug it in to work again on reboot.

On another thread we were trying to see if these issues were caused by dual modding, but I’m assuming most of you guys here haven’t even modded your pcbs.

well that sucks. i just bought one and now i’m regretting it after reading all this. I’m not the handiest person in the world and the thought of opening up a joystick and rewiring stuff is a bit scary.

it’s not too hard actually, just remove the quick disconnect and plug it into another button etc.

Does the washer problem exist for the TE fightstick?

I’ve had mine for a couple weeks, and the stick just started to get stuck. (IE, I will be crouching down and back, and will try to return the stick to neutral, but it does not respond right away as it should).

I’ve looked through this thread and it seems this problem was happening exclusively for SE sticks. Does this happen on TE sticks also, or am I experiencing a different problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

At least from what happened to me, yes, it’s a different issue. My stick didn’t got stuck, it just froze probably because a PCB issue and reconnecting the stick thankfully fixed the problem, at least until now.

One thing i would like to know though. To the people having recurring problems with the stick on the consoles, can you use it on a PC without giving errors?

Like i said in my previous post, when i turn my xbox off and the control is plugged the turbo lights glow very dimly, however they don’t if the controller is plugged on the PC and the PC is off. Also i’ve been playing SF4 on the PC for hours with no issues.

hmmm was playing hardcore on tekken 3 on pc, somehow i flt the stick get stiffer. on certain direction, i rotate the stick in circles, and i fixes it then i would feel stiffness on other direction, i guess my washer is loose, i will check tommorow. i gota buy those screw thinggy with 8 sides.

the stiffnes is realy hard to notice, but somehow i feel it, i just move the stick slowly, feeling for stiffnes . . . @_@ sounds wrong :X

I’ve had mine since April and the only issue I have is the RT/RH button randomly going out mid match. Like others, unplugging and replugging the USB cable in the 360 fixes the issue and it’s good for like a week or two. Ugh.

I’m hoping the one i just got is from some top secret new batch that will not break for a good year. I said i wouldn’t buy anything else from Madcatz after one of their headsets shocked the hell out of my face, and then ceased to function.

Seriously…my Madcatz headset sent an electrical current through my face, and then shorted out.

lol wow
