Well, you really have to take into consideration that this is a thread that will catch the eye of anyone actually having the issue. Not to diminish the problem’s effect on those that have had this happen, but think of the number of these sticks sold. Most of the people who still have perfectly functional TE sticks aren’t going to go post online, “Hey, had my stick for four months, still working great!”. I remember worrying about an MP3 player I bought years ago because of all the complaints on Creative’s message board. 5 years later the thing is still going strong without any of the errors people had issues with. Better to spend your time playing and enjoying your awesome new TE than worrying about the potential for a button signal error. Cross that bridge IF you come to it. : D
Also, I’m pretty sure the LT/RT problem is only on the 360 sticks, and it seems to be pretty rare.
It can’t be that rare if almost everyone I know who has a TE has the same issue. A lot of people just don’t bother talking about it.
I’m getting the 360 one dual modded is it common or not?
The madcatz is.
NOOOOOOOO!!!
Come on! it’s not un-fixable is it?
I have 2 TE’s and no problems.
I guess some people just get the lemon out of the batch
Same problems here, except with a SE stick with Sanwas I swapped in a month or so back.
This is a new issue for me. Hasn’t started happening until recently. Sometimes unplugging the stick and plugging it back in will work, sometimes it won’t.
I just took out my buttons, cleaned them real good, and let the case/plungers soak in warm water for a bit. Buttons are drying right now. Hopefully this’ll fix my issues.
I have the same problems with my TE stick, ordered it from the Capcom store and have had it for about a week.
My symptoms seem to be the same as others, usually the RT (HK) and LT (3k) buttons stop responding, or the RB (HP) and LB (3P) buttons. It’s usually one pair or the other, not usually both. I have also had it where I got stuck in a crouching position mid game and only some buttons worked.
Unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable seems to fix it for some time. Hasn’t been happening too often, maybe like once an hour? Hard to tell since sometimes it will happen several times in a row, but then be fine for a long time.
I thought it might have been a driver issue, or maybe something to do with my USB port but this thread pretty much confirms it’s an issue with the stick since there are so many others with the same problem.
Not sure what to do, I guess it’s time to write to madcatz / capcom and see what they have to say about it.
Yeah, I had my TE for about 3 weeks now. This JUST hapened to me today. RT and LT suddenly went out. All I could do was unplug and replug it and it worked fine for a couple more hours after that. I’m kinda worried now, though.
How’s the MadCatz support in Canada? I figured if it happened again, I’ll ask for a replacement PCB like a few guys here did. The problem is most of those guys are in the US, so I dunno if Mad Catz would do the same thing for Canadians.
I really don’t want to send my entire stick in for repair as that’ll be a pain in the ass. (i’d rather put in the new replacement PCB myself) Don’t want to padhack another PCB either. Oh well.
My PS3 TE is unuasable after about 6 weeks of getting it. The square buttons sticks alot but I just put up with it hoping it would wear in. Now the stick its self has started playing up not registering db. all the time.
Im not sure what sanwa parts they put in the TE but they are rubbish compared to my modded SE. The stick on my SE is real smooth and the buttons dont require any real pressure.
I think the TE may have older Sanwa parts
Don’t know if you’re still checking this thread(doubt it) but I have a similar issue. The lights on the turbo panel stay dimly lit even when the console is off. It does the same thing when the console is on and nothing works. I assumed it was a bad pcb so I called Madcatz and requested a new PCB. They sent me a new PCB and I installed it. The stick worked fine for all of about 10 mins after I installed the new PCB and it started to do the same thing. So I’ve replaced the PCB with a new one that Madcatz sent to me yet it’s still doing the same thing. Any ideas?
Maybe the Wires/QDC are messed up?!
Everything seems fine to me. I’ve checked all the wires thoroughly more than once.
Maybe the mini PCB under the turbo is the problem, not the main PCB.
Also, I’m kind of paranoid now. How helpful is Mad Catz with sending a replacement PCB? I really don’t want to bother sending the stick in if I need warranty work done. I can do it myself. I’m in Canada though, so that might be an issue.
The mini PCB under the turbo panel is the one I replaced. The other bigger PCB where the joystick connects to is actually a security chip.
Not sure how it is in canada but they agreed to send me a PCB free of charge. They didn’t hesitate at all to send me a new PCB as soon as I told them I could replace it myself. It does void your warranty though when you open it so proceed with caution. My TE is actually out of warranty and they still sent me a new PCB.
WTF! Today while fighting, my entire top row of buttons went out. That ryu probably thought I was pathetic
I rang the uk support line and they told me they cant do anything for me cos the warrenty is void. They wouldnt even sell me one. :shake:
That sucks. I guess I got lucky. Not much though since the damn stick still doesn’t work right even with the new PCB.
Man this thread has me worried I just invested a lot of money getting a TE to work with PS3/360/PS1/PS2/XBOX/GCN.
