Swapping HK and 3K doesn’t usually help, because they often both go out in my experience. For a while I always swapped HK and 3P
Just attempted the fix in this thread. I did it pretty ghetto (ie. no solder) by just attatching a wire to the screw on the JLF, but instead of soldering to the common on the JLF, i attached the other end of the wire to another of common quick disconnects, like in the fix for the bottom panel.
Ill report back in a few weeks.
I have this issue, my HK button stops working extremely randomly and I have to re-connect my TE stick to fix.
I tried a couple solutions:
- switching wiring from unused button (black one) to my HK and remapping buttons ingame. result: fail.
- put wiring back and swapped buttons. result: fail
I am now trying running a ground wire from the failed buttons quick disconnect (near the PCB) to one of the mounting screws on the joystick (near the faceplate). I’m not big on tech stuff but I didn’t want to screw around with the feet as they unscrew backwards or something. I think the mounting screw should be grounded. Anyways I’ll report back with results…
I’ve got round 1 PS3 TE that will get stuck crouching and the last time HP wouldn’t register. I thought the PS3 sticks were supposed to have the more reliable PCBs. Man I really don’t want to have to jump into another Cthulhu mod right now.
The grounding mod failed for me.
Humm, so far this has worked for me. Im going to do more testing. I’ll report back. btw, thanks ILL_BILL
I tried the electrical tape method and it works perfectly for my stick
I did the electrical tape method on the bottom plate at least 1.5 months ago, and I haven’t had any problems even after at least 40 hours of use.
Could someone explain the electrical tape method? Do you have to remove the warranty sticker?
I sent my TE stick in to Mad Catz UK on Thursday for repairs.
Any of you had to do the same in the past? How long did it take for you to get your stick back?
Fail! i’ll try the electrial tape one next.
I’ve had mine go out on me once now since the mod several months ago. It seems to have reduced, but not eliminated the problem. I get disconnects when plugging in the headset due to static sometimes.
Electrical tape might help as well. A decent PCB would be the best, MadCatz!
TE triggers not registering
hey guys, i just popped open my 360 TE last night to put in some new buttons and when i put it all back together, neither of the triggers worked. i’ve modded and built my own sticks before so i’m not a total noob, but i really can’t see where the problem is.
-it’s not the button; i tried different buttons and connected trigger buttons to alternate inputs and they work.
-physical connections all look good; i pulled the connectors from the pcbs and reseated them. all wires are undamaged and QDCs look fine.
the only thing i can think of that may have damaged something is when i accidentally connected the wire harness on the JLF backwards, but i’ve made the same mistake before and nothing was damaged. any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.
are they completely not working now? if so, have you tried unplugging the stick from the 360 and plugging it back in?
yup. i powercycled a few times, giving it some time before plugging it back in. i’m at a loss.
damn…def sucks. that happened on my first TE. the triggers and Y stopped working completely.
your best option is to replace the PCB. call madcatz if you still have some warranty left or padhack a new PCB.
shite. i was hoping you weren’t gonna say that. i guess i can get by using both bumpers instead of triggers for now. i’m pretty sure i voided my warranty when i stabbed a screwdriver through the sticker that said “don’t stab this”.
thanks, spektrum
So the triggers went out on you from just normal use or only after plugging your headset in?
Normal use, once. If I get all staticy and plug in the headset I get a disconnect message, but then it reconnects right away
Is there a solution for this problem yet?
Can someone explain this electrical tape method in more detail.
Thanks
