Tatsunoko vs. Capcom stick for Wii by Madcatz confirmed

Just got a Wii, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom and a Mad Catz TvC Stick :bgrin:

except i think my TvC stick is DOA! i plug it into wiimote, the buttons dont register in game. Wiimote is working fine in game and in menu, i plug in Nunchuck and the nunchuck also works fine. There is nothing plugged into my GameCube Ports, turbo function on stick dont work at all also. This sucks! all i can do is watch the TvC demo :frowning: BAD TIMES!! oh well back to SFIV

Send it back for warranty.

fuck that! this shit is going back to a gamestop that has another fight stick, i am then going to make them re assure me that it works before i leave with a new one.
i did push the buttons and did motions with the stick, buttons have an interesting feel, stick feels like a broken in sanwa. Hopefully i can try it out tomorrow and get a better feeling for it, to see if i need to add a
2nd order of Sanwa JLF stick and buttons. Seeing how i am already looking to replace the ones i have on my 360 TE stick.

D3v I am glad you have the answer for the loose stick. Do you reccomend a specific spring because I have seen a few different Sanwa springs but i don’t know the difference in the models

If you want to emulate MadCatz’s TE stick, then you’ll want the Sanwa JLF-SP Spring.

D3V - I’m a bit confused, my stock TvC stick was tighter than the TE stick. So your advice of changing the stock spring for an user’s loose stick to Sanwa’s spring would make the stick more loose wouldn’t it?

Ok so i just came back from gamestop, exchanged the DOA stick and got another one, right away i plug it in and it works flawlessly :lovin: Back to GOOD TIMES!!!

thanks mahzilla. off to find this spring.

the spring is like 2/3 down the page. 95 cents.

added to my next order…

Update from a first-time part-swapper:
The Seimitsu LS-32 doesn’t seem to compatible with this stick… Have I ordered the wrong model? There doesn’t seem to be a white pin set like the stock stick has. Do I need to order a different piece, or is there a way to get this to work?

Get the LS-32-01 which comes with a PCB that can you can connect the wiring harness to.

Oh blast it all.

Thanks for a speedy reply.

I got the TVC stick a couple of days ago. The joystick is fine, but I’m having problems with some of the buttons. I don’t know why, but the white buttons on the stick are much better than the blue ones. They’re much looser and press down much more smoothly then the blue ones, which seem to scrape the outer frame and sometimes get struck unless you press the button right in the center.

This the first time I’ve ever owned a fightstick, and the first time I’ve mingled with the insides of one. Until I get a better understanding of stick modding, and can order the proper replacement buttons, I’d like to simply swap the white buttons with the blue ones. Unfortunately, TVC:UAS won’t allow the use of the ZL/ZR buttons in gameplay, so I’ll have to change the ZL/ZR functions from white buttons into blue ones.

I unscrewed the metal plate to examine the inside. Moving the buttons around on the box shouldn’t be too hard, but I’m a bit worried about the wiring. Every button has 2 pairs of color coded wires connected to these little black boxes. I looked at the boxes and it seems like I can pop them out by pinching the sides (kinda like with the buttons) but I’m not sure if this is true. I’m hoping these black boxes are what assign the functions of the stick buttons and that I can take the buttons apart from them so I can swap them around. Can anyone confirm that I’m on the right track?

just write down the layout of the color coded wires and pull them out of the black boxes. Afterward, swap the buttons to your liking and put the wires back in the same order it was lay before the swap. it will not matter which wire goes where as long as the pair of wires are the same color to attached to one button.

Any suggestions on yanking these wires out? They seem to be latched on pretty tight.

Use a small flat-headed screwdriver to work the quick disconnects off the pushbutton terminals.

All right. After taking GeorgeC suggestion, I managed to sucessfully swap the buttons on my fightstick. Thanks alot guys. I shouldn’t have any problems replacing these buttons in the future.

BTW, in case I want to order some over the net, what kind of buttons does this fightstick use?

sanwa OSBF 30, Sanwa OSBN 30, Seimitsu PS-14-K, Seimitsu PS-14-KN, Seimitsu PS-15 30mm, Seimitsu PS-14-GN 30mm

Weird Mad Catz Wii stick problem…

Having a weird issue with my tatsunoko wii stick that I bought a couple days after the TvC game release date.

Was working fine, enjoyed it quite a bit. A couple days ago I noticed that occasionally the stick wouldn’t work on the menu and I’d have to disconnect/reconnect it.

Anyways, haven’t been playing much but I was playing Sam Shodown Anthology today. In that game when a stick/classic controller disconnects the whole game pauses and says it’s either connected or disconnected, and to hit A. This happened with the Tats stick, so I start wiggling the wire and connector piece and can see that it’s constantly reconnecting/disconnecting with the slightest jostle.

At this point I figured it’s definitely the stick, but I do some troubleshooting anyways as I have a second wiimote.
I start by testing the classic controller on both remotes. It’s fine, and no amount of wiggling can get it to disconnect while it’s plugged in.
Here is the weird thing, the Tatsunoko stick works PERFECTLY with the second wiimote. I am wiggling/shaking the remote in the exact same way and I cannot get it to disconnect.

So this leads me to think it’s probably that wiimote… but then why would the classic controller not have the same problem?

I guess what I’m asking is… should I bother doing an exchange for the stick? It’s some combination of the stick connector/that wiimote being wonky but how can I be sure which is which? The one reason I kind of want to do the exchange is that I didn’t notice the problems until a couple days ago which leads me to believe it probably has to be the stick… unless I wrecked the female input on the wiimote removing the dongle one time?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This happened to me because I was being super-smart and letting the wiimote dangle from the cable. I think I loosened the connector inside the wiimote. It worked fine for a couple days on Wiimote A, then started disconnecting frequently. I plugged into into Wiimote B and it’s been fine since. I can reproduce the issue by plugging it into Wiimote A at any time.

Not saying this is what you were doing, but it might be a similar situation. I think I’m gonna put some 3M dual lock in place so I can stick the wiimote to the side of the joystick case. I’m not a big fan of it balanced on my lap or on a chair or whatever.
