RoboKrikit, that was a very comprehensive breakdown of the TvC stick. Thank you. Knowing what is inside of it has actually strengthened my confidence in buying that stick. I had the Hori Wii Fighting Stick and it was bad.
I went to Amazon and if you buy the T vs C game for 46.99 AND the stick for 79.99 you get the stick at 15% off for a total of 114.98, look on the middle left on this page for the deal.
I can’t find the hot deals thread to post this in, is that a sub section of another topic?
15% off T vs C Joystick at Amazon

fml that wasn’t there for the pre order those bastards. >_< FUCK.
anyway,
If someone could do a side by side of these parts and the SE parts that’d be nice. I don’t have a nice enough camera to show the differences…my extra money goes towards sticks/parts/games lol
Would anyone really pay $80 for that stick?!
Just get an GC adapter for your current stick
The stick is really good…I thought about replacing the buttons, but after trying this one last night vs. my SFIV TE stick, I really can’t tell the difference. They actually feel a bit more like Seimitsu parts to me because I think of Seimitsu parts as being a little stiffer. I still think I’ll mod this one eventually, but it’s not as immediately necessary like it is on the old HRAPs or the older Madcatz (non-TE) sticks, which is a really nice surprise.
I totally agree with you. I had a chance to use this stick and its really not that bad. I like the feel of the buttons and the stick feels solid (no homo). I also like the mat finish.
I think its a good fight stick.
My current stick is a Madcatz TE…
Some people don’t have PS2 sticks…
i have ONE Ps2 stick that I use on this, my other two sticks are for 360. So I got this stick too.
With this stick, I’m about to take my first foray into swapping parts.
I’ve ordered some Seimitsu PS 14 KNs and I’m nervous about the installation process, having read murmurs in this thread about snap-ins being much simpler to swap in. Any advice would be largely appreciated! What obstacles should I be anticipating? Is there a guide for installing screw-ins? Is this simple as pie and do I have nothing to worry about?
Thanks!
Hah I bought the stick since I no longer had a PS2 stick to use the adapter for. Then I’d have to buy a PS2 stick, and then the adapter. I got in on that deal though and since I bought 2 copies of TvC I ended up getting an extra $10 off of the bundle on Amazon. It was worth it though, MadCatz did what most thought was impossible (myself included) and stepped their game up, now I can’t joke on their stuff anymore.
I replaced MadCatz’s spring with Sanwa’s spring and the stick really does feel like a JLF
I have the TE and I just got the TvC stick. Did they change the parts from the original se to the TvC? because this stick is much better than i expected considering its based on the the SE and I heard tons of bad things about the SE.
I finally got fed up (after one too many blown Omotchama’s Rolls) and ordered a Sanwa stick to put in mine. That mushiness and general “unsolid” feel is hard to get used to after the just plain goodness of Sanwa parts. I went ahead and ordered some beautiful whiteSanwa buttons too to replace those light blue ones, might as well save on the shipping.
Overall nice effort Mad Catz, but the real deal is the real deal, you can’t beat Sanwa.
Yes.
Go back one page to see comparison between TvC and Sanwa.
Yeah, I read that, and I think you understated the difference in mushiness between the Mad Catz joystickstick and a fresh Sanwa one. Or maybe i’m just a spoiled brat. Probably the latter.
Props for doing that though! Very interesting to see.
I didn’t do comparison.
Laugh.
It is definitely stiffer. I think replacing the entire stick is overkill, considering the stiffness of the shaft movement is dependent on the spring, which is cheap and easily replaced. A new JLF-SP spring costs under a dollar.
The other potential difference is the switches. They are Omron, but afaik it is still unknown what the differences are between the D3V-16-3A5 and MS-0-2P switches (which are marked V-01-3D5-A). The TP-MA assembly is about half the cost of a new JLF. Personally I noticed the difference in spring and not so much the difference in microswitches. The spring makes a pretty significant difference in the feel of the stick. To me it feels out of the box kinda like a JLF with the LS-33 spring added, aka Per’s ‘’ mod.
