Tatsu->Sweep knockdown mixups

After tatsu sweep on rog (insanely easy in comparison to other characters) I follow the 4 step rule…

1)Does he have ex/have I stuffed a HB with dive kick yet
if yes then Demon Flip palm to break ex dash on wake up
2)If no on 1 then dive kick hit confirm if yes on 1 then demon flip throw
3)If yes on 1 and 2 follow up I do empty jump cLP+cLK->cLP->cLP->LK tatsu->sweep if no on 1 I now do demon flip palm->grab if he ex rushes you (palm breaks it) then go back though the chart all (see if yes on 3) else he either techs/gets thrown/back dashes. Reset your situation.
4) if yes after 3 then cross up tatsu->sweep or dP…

-he should be KO or near KO by this point…Gootecks the fuck out of him and teleport for days until you can finish him…

this has been extremely effective for me. I’ve won the past 2 local tourneys with this as my guide (certain things change for certain characters)

I know for people new to vortex this is crazy but for those looking for rog vortex this does work.

Bokkin, I’ve been having a lot of trouble with the Rog MU lately, and this is pretty damn helpful in spicing up my mixups. Thanks a lot.

@Bokkin

I assume that in #3 the clp+clk at the begining is to guard against throw? And if the throw comes out does that change your mix up for the next round?

Thanks, I getting the sweep after the Tatsu much more often now…now I just need to keep practicing that combo. As for plinking the sweep, I don’t think it’s that hard to connect without plinking and I don’t really understand the whole plinking technique.

yes

The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 4 characters.

For me its hard to time the x up tatsu to cr.HK its like you cant do it late or early any tips on how to do it?

^practice practice…hit the trainin mode.

Well, do it on time. You have a TON of time to sweep after the xup tatsu connects, like 17 times as much in comparison to regular LK tatsu to sweep.

Cr.HK will usually work as theyre back is almost touching the ground from the tatsu knockdown

I noticed that this is alot easier to do on certain characters than others. I have no problem landing it against Balrog, Cammy, and Dhalsim. Other characters give me a harder time. I usually look for the back of the character to hit the floor and I usually hit the MK and HK together. It works at times but I have to many misses to trust it in a Ranked match. Any tips on how to pull this knockdown more efficiently.

You want to hit the MK 1 frame after the HK so it would be HK~MK. This gives you 2 HK inputs so it increases the chance of you landing the combo. It’s also pretty doable on a pad.

I’m actually getting a little better at doing it now. I actually hit HK and MK at the same time as soon as Akuma’s feet hit the ground after the light tatsu. I still miss it a ton, but I hit it my share of times in matches.

would be great if you updated the first or second post in regards to the new characters in SSF4.

2:40, guy does crossover tatsu to sweep on Ryu. What gives?

You can do air Tatsu > sweep on every character.
What you can’t do is ground Tatsu (in the Bnb for example) > sweep on certain characters like Ryu/Ken/3S characters/so on.

Ok, I went into training mode, and tested this. It feels really inconsistent using sweep against Fuerte. I think the only way to actually land it against him is to start your B&B combo from a farther distance. For example, try the sweep after a connecting a max range low strong x tatsu; it connects. Although, it feels like a 1 frame link. If you try to do a close fierce x tatsu to sweep, it just won’t connect at all.

IMO, it’s better to just shoryu because of how inconsistent this feels.

Or reset him with c.LP/c.LK/c.MP/c.MK into … (Demonflipthrow, mk.demonflip palm whiff, crossup j.mk, …)

lk.tatsu > sweep on El Fuerte

here is a vid of Fujino landing the sweep after tatsu consistently on a Fuerte player…he tries it 3 times, and succeeds every time.

i’ve tried it in training mode to get the timing down, but i’m finding it pretty difficult, i have everyone else’s timing down, so i’m guessing it’s just smarter to go for the dp on fuerte. [at least in my case]
