I’ve seen some japanese players start to make use of the sweep follow up to a light tatsu instead of a fierce SRK in order to create mixup opportunities, sort of like a reset but based off of a knockdown guessing game. I’m making a list of who the sweep works on here for my own recollection, and for other people that are curious about it, because it IS character specific.
Who It Works On:
Cammy
Akuma
Zangief
Guile
Viper
Chun-Li
Dhalsim
Fei Long
E. Honda
Sagat
Vega
Rose
Sakura
Dan
Doesn’t Work On:
Blanka
Ryu
Ken
M.Bison
Abel
Rufus
Fuerte
Gen
I don’t know about Seth and Gouken cause I’m lazy and don’t have them unlocked, so someone else has to check that.
The second round of this video is an example of how this mixup can be utilized.

I was gonna post my own video to kind of go through it but i still suck dick at doing it so I’ll hold off on that for now. But yeah I wanted to make this because people are creaming themselves over this mixup potential but they don’t bring up the fact that it doesn’t work on the entire cast, so now you know. Rep me pls
It does nice stun as well, so it’s pretty fantastic in that regard. Loyal posted all of them in another thread, looks real similar. Rep you pls? If only it were that easy.
Yes:
Guile
Akuma
Sagat
Viper
Balrog
Vega
Gouken
Cammy
Fei Long
Dhalsim
Chun Li
Zangief
E.Honda
Seth
Dan
Rose
Is this true? It’s more damaging? Is that why people are using a sweep to finish the combo? I’ve been watching some videos (very recent matches actually) and this is the first time I’m seeing akumas use sweep to end Bnb.
c.lp, lk.tatsu, sweep. it doesn’t really make sense to me, as hp srk definitely deals more dmg… 80% x (180 > 100) or (144 > 80)
In any case, I’ve seen momochi or some of the sbo hype matches do 3 hits with c.lp/lk, lk.tastu, sweep. And he does it again same round. Maybe akumas combos getting stale
Strange I just got done answering this in another thread.
Actually I would think that the HP.SRK would always do more damage than the c.HK because they are both reduced at the same level. The difference becomes rather small after things like combo loops and such.
However the advantage is that it provides a untechable knockdown for which you can set up your wake up game. A great way to keep pressure on someone.
