Taskmaster Matchup and Team building thread

The unblockable still hits even when blocking an assist, but Sword Master can be push blocked.

Taskmaster (g) Storm (a) Dorm (a)?

Thanks for the info. That makes it seem a bit risky, but I’d have to see the positioning of Tasky first hand to ve sure. It might be a decent bait setup with Sent drones if he recovers quickly enough.

Pretty much all of the long lasting blockstring assists (Chun li Legs, Dante’s purple stuff, Haggar lariat, etc) set it up REAL good. Maybe too good

Running X-23 (B)/Super-Skrull(B)/Taskmaster(A) right now, considering bringing Tasky in on point to begin with since my X-23 has problems approaching. Main thing I try to do with him in is get in close, mix X-23’s low-hitting assist with some Spidey Swing mixups to try to create an unblockable, also bring in Skrull to knock them in the air a bit for some more shenanigans.

That’s a basic rundown anyway. I just need to find effective ways to use my other characters, Tasky is by far my strongest, but I seem to have problems with the other two.

Taskmaster (A), Deadpool (A), Doom (Y)

Pretty much a keepaway team that I tried out and does really well. Taskmaster chip damage is amazing with Doom rocks pushing the opponents back. I tried Sent with his assist but he comes out to slow and gets easily punished if played incorrectly. What ya think?

Taskmaster A / Storm A / Sent A

Taskmasters bnb dhc to hailstorm pritty mutch kills every good character in this game
Then you can use storms bnb cr light cr medium cr heavy nj medium medium heavy lancher medium medium knockdown hailstorm to dhc into straight super arrow

Sent is kinda a no brainer, good and easy combos

my 2 cents.
Task (h. shot), Capt. A (shield slash), Dorm (Purification)
Task is a combo machine (he can combo a super off of any air combo, c’mon now), and zoning is easy with him as well, Dorms assist is similar to blackhearts old one and almost as helpful (great with combos off of charging star), Capt. america is strong, and with those assists combined with his cartwheel, it makes for a good cross up game.

I agree with the sentinel comment for sure. his assists get him murdered if used carelessly.
I tried to like doom in this game but his combos seem boring and they really made him weak.

sent drones plus task’s vertical arrows keeps the opponent from coming in.

IMO the prob is task is a lil slow…he feels like he has doom’s speed from mvc2 and he doesn’t have much air mobility. i really wish you could do two mighty swings in the air. i could use it as a pseudo wave dash a lot better with the right assist. like go back and forth with it.

i think i might try dorm and switch sent out, tho, just to see whats more effective.

I tried some setups with chun + sword master last night and was not too overly impressed. The most reliable was with LSM but the damage is pathetic. MSM and HSM were both very telegraphable and my opponents would push me out if headbutt range.

Thus far, Wesker has been superb. My only gripe is that it doesn’t look like he can easily otg my opponents after long combos. I’m going to test Viper tonight.

@the Tasky/Sent players
How easy is it to create ambiguous crossups using drones in conjunction with jumping web swing?

Very easy to do basic ones. I don’t know too much yet but you can probably make really hard to block ones with certain setups. I haven’t really gotten any figured out yet though.

Tasky / Wesker work good together. If you do the j.S at the end of your combo late you can easily OTG and relaunch. Swing into wesker low assist followed by j.H is beastly, easy to get in their face and unblockable lol.

Also using Zero since he’s my point, horizontal arrows is really good for zero / wesker to abuse cross ups. Also like doing taskmaster M+H super and then DHCing into Zero with sougenmu super for a free chance to run up and do unblockables.

For light sword master if it hits and you get the unblockable, you can xfactor the headbutt and go into a 100% if you want to save that as a random match winning gimmick.

The damage from LSM is actually very, very impressive. Just run LSM > H > Super > DHC etc if you need to kill someone.

Believe me, his unblockable is strong.

I got ya. I like the sound of those.

What unblockable?

I found that if you’re having trouble closing the distance with Task, you can always use his ungodly wavedash. getting across the screen in less than half a second is pretty nice. What I tend to do is wavedash in their face and either throw a projectile or a mid counter when they try and hit.

I tried out HsienKo/Task/Captain the other day. i ended up with extra meter, and my ordering got messed up bc of the strategy I had tried with this team.

So I decided to switch to HsienKo/Task/Phoenix for now. haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet, but for HsienKo I use her til I can power her up and switch her out so I can use her pendulum swing assist. I can DHC into an arrow hyper from Task, or just switch out to Task anytime cuz he can take a lot of hits anyway. at that point I’ll concentrate on using task as if he’s my point, and when I get enough meter, or die I’ll switch to Phoenix, die, come back and beast on the opponent. it could get annoying having to chase down the opponent, but with phoeinix you can teleport or lock the oppt down with projectiles so you can move in. ideally if I still have an assist I could use that to move in too.

Taskmaster has a “true unblockable”, the follow up to all of his DP-Attack specials is unblockable. However, only the light version can be set up in a nearly unavoidable way. If you call a strong blockstring assist (IE Chun li legs) just as someone without a jump is forced in (just after killing someone off), You can confirm a DP+L > H (unblockable followup) > super > (DHC/XFC).

The problem with these unblockables is you can easily pushblock taskmaster out of range on reaction; however, an assist makes you unable to be pushblocked. That makes certain set ups reaaaal dirty.

I think there us a little confusion with the pushblock thing. You CAN be pushblocked while you have an assist hitting. It’s just that people tend to mash pblock and often miss pblocking your pointman’s actual attack. If your opponent times his pblock, he can just push Tasky out after LSM. I had this happen a few times last night, but not often enough to quit trying.

I tried out Tasky/Viper a little last night and it was better than Tasky/ Wesker in some respect. I really liked the blast range on her low assist (timing is almost identical to Wesker) and the OH assist leads to its own high/low possibilities. A strong contender I think.
