I would personally go Spencer/Zero/Hawkeye. Hawkeye is the best anchor out of the 3 characters(Task/Doom/Hawk) with a great assist. Normally Hawkeye has damage issues on support(poor DHCs, lol TACs), but since you run Spencer and Zero who have no damage issues I would go with Hawkeye. Taskmaster is a pretty bad anchor at getting that hit outside of a Guard Cancel and has serious problems against keepaway play. Plasma beam is better overall, but Greyhound ain’t bad either and helps Spencer approach more aggressively with more resets.
I’m trying to run Task (H.Arrows)/Magneto (Disruptor)/Dante (Jam Session). What’s the basic BNB i can run from a normal standing hit/Shield Skills hit for this that does the most damage, may lead to a snap, and/or TAC?
the standard bnb should work, launch, j.L swing M arrows land, (st.H optional) back H S, MH swing MHS, otg arrow and Mags, skillz sharp sting, otg into dante, not sure but I think DP+L, shield skills snap. If there’s enough hitstun, you can charge L arrows before the snap, after shield skills.
Pretty much any combo will work, confirm with one assist, you can just otg with another, and snap.
Watch this video of me getting bopped to learn some tech with that exact team lmao
Pretty much, do the standard BnB.
Then extend with f+H H arrow x1 + Disruptor. Shield Skills into Sharp Sting (Magneto extension is HSD dependent so be warned). Jump call dante H arrows x 3, Sharp Sting. jump H arrows x3 into 45 degree super(820kish off a crL iirc)
If you are running that order you need to learn the double arrow super link with Taskmaster since shockwave DHC is ass.
Oh, just sharp sting after the Dante pickup? How do/Can you do the DP+L extension with Jam Session, always been curious. Also, my combo notation’s pretty terrible, if you haven’t noticed
Thanks for the information. Was trying stuff out in the lab earlier without any idea how to combo with taskmaster. Was basically doing:
cr.LMH f.H j.H f.H QCF+M (x3) land st.H b.H QCF+S, jump A1 (Magneto) at peak, QCF+H, b.H S sj. MH f.H MHS into the dante extension.
You probably can. I didn’t put enough time into myself but I assume that’s probably the most optimized way to go. Just going H arrows x 3 or swing + H arrow into sharp sting into H arrows x3 again is good enough for me though.
so here’s my question, and it comes in two parts:
what do you think is the best point Taskmaster team
and what do you think is the best team for Taskmaster (to be on)?
I think that they’re two relatively different questions. For the first question the team may be great for Taskmaster but poop when he dies (I highly doubt that, though) and for the second question Tony might not even be on point.
Interested to hear your thoughts and opinions, especially since some of you guys hold missiles higher than jam session and etc. on the utility list.
I also realized seconds after posting how broad the second question actually is haha my bad
I like having Task on point but feel like overall my team has a little lacking mobility and I often rely on assists to cover me. It’s a shame considering the assists I use are great at extending Task combos.
Currently: Task-Horizontal/Doom-Beam/Vergil-Slash
Any advice? I was thinking about switching to Missiles but again I have a little trouble in the neutral game. I do have some experience with Hawkeye, the main thing holding me back there is damage but if he’s on anchor supporting both Task and Vergil it could work out.
Just my 2c, but I would put vergil second for easy ToD. Since you don’t really have a lockdown assist, opening up players will be comparatively harder, so I will not give any chances whenever I get a combo going.
Beam or missiles is really up to you. I find that task has some problems guarding doom’s missile assist from certain characters though. Beam gives you more or less a free get in with shield skills, except for silly characters who can duck under it like wolverine.
So I’m assuming the question goes like:
- What is the best point Taskmaster team?
- What is the best shell for Taskmaster to be in?
Just a disclaimer first, since I have finally decided to come out of the dark and start posting. I have tried to fit taskmaster into all sorts of team for nearly a year now. Adelheid has shown me some stuff with her team which drew me some conclusions about Taskmaster on point.
Seriously though, it depends on your playstyle. You have to ask why are you picking each character. There is no ‘magical’ best point team that solves everything taskmaster needs perfectly. All of them comes with pros and cons which you can abuse and have to deal with respectively. Viewing this thread (all pages) already has information of assists that really helps taskmaster. My own personal belief is that taskmaster needs a lockdown assist, an assist that helps him mix up incoming characters without proration, an assist that can keep shield skills safe AND force opponent on the defensive and an assist that picks up characters off throw or random sharp sting hits for combo. I also believe that Taskmaster needs to be able to ToD off any random hit he gets so assists which doesn’t screw hitstun is important as well as being able to DHC for the kill (or kill them himself with two supers somehow).
This thread also listed down some teams others have been trying. I have tried most of them (most recently leafcolonel’s cus I was running around with Task/Dante for awhile). I’m just going to list them plus a few I have tried:
Task/Doom/Ammy - Honzo’s team. Really strong shell (Doom/Ammy). Has team hyper nonsense. Missiles for…well we all know how annoying they can be. Ammy for being a good anchor with XF infinite and lockdown. Task/Ammy are really good friends too. Ammy can convert off some of taskmaster’s throws , silly easy-to-do setup for incoming mixups, unblockables, etc. Only problem I find is that shield skills isn’t that abusable and dumb in this team, and if double arrow super don’t kill, you’ll need to rely on TAC.
Task/Spencer/Ammy - This is Adelheid’s team. As usually with Task/Ammy. Spencer is really really strong with taskmaster because he can literally convert off almost anything for taskmaster into a BnB. DHC into ToDs. Spencer/Ammy are pretty good friends too. This team also has team hyper nonsense.
Task/Dante/Magneto - Leafcolonel’s team I guess. Has unblockable setups. Beam assist is really good because it does not prorate. Also has a pretty decent shell with Dante/Magneto. Problem is conversions off some throws as well as damage. I really love Jam Session a lot but combos off it is piss. Plus, unlike Ammy assist, it pushes opponents away so setting up for mixups can get quite hard (I have seen leafcolonel’s videos and actually tried to do it for a month in a real match. It works but god it’s hard to catch some characters to those situations). If Dante somehow dies, you will have to change your combo to the one that ends up with sharp sting so that you can combo into magnetic shockwave, or try to do double arrows. However, on the bright side, you have access to magnus’ easy to do infinite.
Task/Vergil/xxx - I have seen a few variations of this shell like Nova/Task/Vergil or Task/Vergil/Mag or even Task/Vergil/Dante. Task/Vergil has ToD on even Thor if you can do sword loops. Calling vergil assist on neutral is basically for keep away purposes, which is annoying for me because I want to be in the opponent’s face with a lockdown. This duo has crazy incoming mixup potential tho. Calling rapid slash and super jump forward TK into down arrows is really dirty. If it hits, you get a free combo with almost no damage proration. If he blocks, you will be in his face, with him in block stun.
Task/Spencer/Akuma - This is my current team. I know there isn’t a lot of videos of Task/Akuma, but these two are retarded. This team has ToD off almost anything thanks to spencer and akuma both being able to pick off some of Task’s throws. Random shield skills into tatsu is stupid as hell and even worse when it can actually kill. Of course, retarded as it sounds, this team has cons. Akuma is not THAT strong as an anchor so comebacks can be hard. Spencer/Akuma is not really a strong shell (they can work together, but that’s only because tatsu is generally a good assist). The funny thing i found is that when I get happy birthday’ed I usually end up with Spencer anchor instead of Akuma =)
To a lesser extent, I have tried Task/Dorm. Shield skills xx 1 arrow with dark hole anti air and dashing under is possibly the sexiest mixup. I have ever seen. I just hate it when people actually got hit my dark hole, in which my damage becomes sad. =/
Anyway, that’s just my 2c. Take it with a grain of salt? (I’m not very good with proverbs =p)
EDIT: Limit, for my own honest answers to your questions:
- My Task/Spencer/Akuma. I can blow up everyone with a nicely placed shield skills. If taskmaster dies, I become quite close to poop. Usually I will tag in spencer after task kill someone. Reason why I left Task first is that happy birthday combos are easier and more stupid on Task.
- Honestly if you can somehow get Task/Dante/Magnus to work, that would be great. Task/Doom/Ammy is good. Task/Spencer/Ammy is good. Task/Dante/Vergil or Task/Vergil/Dante is not bad too…
EDIT2: I can’t believe I forgot frank west teams. I have seen two. Task/Frank/Dante and Task/Frank/Rocket Racoon. Taskmaster combos don’t use wall bounce so called log trap + shield skills is also an annoying strat that can lead to high damage combos. Both Dante and Rocket Racoon are some of Frank’s best friends, so you should have that much problems leveling him up. Also, at least you don’t feel bad when you are comboing off Jam Session; you can just try for a TAC into frank.
I use Task/Vergil/Akuma and I love it, the only bad thing is that Tatsu and Rapid Slash are basically the same thing, I would love a beam assist but I like Akuma so much
yeah, akuma is awesome in that not many people realize how annoying he can be filling the screen with purple marshmallows and doing safe air supers whenever he hears an assist call like doom missiles. Hardc0re, at least Vergil/Akuma sounds cheap with stinger teleport.
Yes that’s true, but Vergil with Task arrows is even cheaper
I’m surprised I have yet to hear of someone running Taskmaster may cry, Vergil second, most likely. Bet it would do wonders, unblockables for days, DHC’ed into sword loops for the kill, throw conversions, horizontal and vertical coverage, pressure and zoning. If I played Dante I’d be on that so fast you have no idea.
As for amazing teams, Task/Doom/Ammy and Task/Spence/Akuma are two of my favorites from that list, though I like the second a bit more because throw conversions into full spencer DHC followup is awesome.
As for Task/Frank teams, Task/Trish/Frank is great, Trish allows Task to play some matchups more leisurely, and Frank allows for pressure and corner unblockables. Tab pioneered a ton of tech that’ll get Frank to level 5 off almost any Task hit, and level 4 guaranteed from any Task hit. And I came up with Trish’s corner/midscreen TACless way to level up Frank to 4 once Tasky dies, I’m proud of that. Two chances for Frank, great assists for him once he is out, good neutral all the way through, and Trish and Task are both decent anchors in case of snap. And ask Tab, but I think there’s unblockables for days without the obvious Round harvest DHC into assist method.
Task/Frank/Spencer can also level up Frank without a TAC, sharp sting then vertical arrows super into whiffed tools early, picture and spencer assist, relaunch j.S knee drop picture. No amazing zoning assist for Task, but if it stays in their face it’s pretty solid, Spencer/Cart and both of them with Task arrows are good. Also two throw conversion assists, which is nice.
Oh, and I’ve tried a lot of combinations with Task/Dorm. For Dorm second, Haggar anchor is surprisingly good for those two, Lariat :D, X-23 doesn’t give much neutral, but she gives extensions off Dorm’s TAC combos, and Task/Dorm builds a ton of meter for Dirt Naps. A gimmick team in that order, but you switch her in with all that meter, it’s pretty solid. Deadpool anchor, though odd, may work pretty well, currently still testing but it might give Task/Dorm more consistent unblockables, quick work converts for throws, extends at max hitstun for both of them, gives Dorm ToDs on Thor from throws for two meters (push to corner, knockdown stalking flare, DHC to Secret Move, high and low at the same time, Deadpool’s only special because his low assist is really long-reaching and has use in neutral). Vergil (Liberation to get throw conversions or Dark Hole for Dark Hole)…also Dante…Arthur even, Morrigan, Skrull. A lot of anchors, assists, and meter hogs work great on this team. Bolts is nice in neutral and all, but Taskmaster wants those throw conversions when he’s with Dorm. Throw xx combo into TAC is much scarier than Throw xx use up your precious meter right away.
Is Taskmaster-Horizontal Arrows/Doom-Missiles/Strider-Vajra any good? I’m especially curious to learn more about what Strider can provide to Taskmaster and what Taskmaster can provide to Strider
Good point character for my team? Running (someone)/Task/Skrull(Stone Smite). Any ideas? Looking for characters that can get good mileage off stone smite extensions and use tasks’ horizontal arrows.
I like Task as a point char.
If you really want him in second, well, since you are using Skrull, you can probably try playing Firebrand on point? For those unblockables…
There’s always Nova as well, he can centurion rush in front of horizontal arrows and either confirm or get a free mixup, and he extends well with Stone smite.
Nova!!
