Taskmaster Matchup and Team building thread

Wow if you play BOTH Iron Man and Dante you have two of the best if not the best assists for Taskmaster, he is a shoe in for your team. With uni beam you can do relentless shield skills(thought you already would be playing Task because of your sn) pressure and convert off of throws. With jam session you have an awesome aa assist, can do Tasks unblock-able in the corner and on incoming, and also do shield skills pressure and convert off of throws. With IM you have a strong dhc or you can tac and do his infinite(I’m pretty sure he has one if I’m not mistaken).

He plays Dante on anchor so he would’nt need repulsor blast.

Oh sorry i misread. Task(h arrow)/IM(beam)/dante(jam) sounds very good.

lol I played Captain/TaskMaster/Wesker in Vanilla and that’s where the user name came from. Toward the end it changed to Captain Dante IronMan. I got bored with Cap and haven’t played Ultimate in some months and looking to get back into it. I’m thinking I’ll do Task/Dante/IronMan in order to be able to DHC him out. I’ll probably use up arrows with Task since I saw some cool stuff with Dante that uses it as an extension and obviously Unibeam with Stark.

IronMan isn’t that great of an anchor but that’s probably the best place to put him since he doesn’t have any safe DHCs.

Task doesn’t really need safe DHCs. Only a few characters can punish it fullscreen on block and the way task plays he can easily make him self safe with specials and not jump to wasting a blocked hyper (I’m a cap player…i sympathize with what you mean). IM on the other hand is a liability and would want the safe DHC much more than Task would. Also IM with jam gives him a much better game plan. I think the benefits of dante anchor outweigh too many things.

how do you all feel about task/dante/sent ?

Switch the order with Dante and Sent, since Sent is better at negating incoming mixups. Once the robot is in, you look for an opportunity to grab the enemy, combo them, or DHC to get Dante in safely and re-apply the pressure. Overall, this team should be able to handle any team on paper, since Taskmaster won’t be dying very easily off a stray hit (sans Zero). Plus you can play a zoning/rushdown game and easily interchange between the two using the type of Drones you want (bombs/drones). Task helps Dante in getting in with Teleports, and can help Sent with zoning.

I don’t play Dante, but Jam Session does wonders for the Robot and helps pin down the opponent for unblockables with Tasky and lets Tasky confirm and get simple pickups from throws.

So it’s a 0f THC that leads into a ToD on thor with XFC? That’s pretty cool. How many other characters can do this with Bionic Arm, or is this character specific. Is it possible to input a reversal super or is it literally 0f.

It’s only very particular starting supers that are valid. Others include Akuma fireball super and Skrull Inferno. There’s also more that allow it to hit early but do not contain the entirety of the move within the super flash, such as Doom Sphere Flame or with Viper and Ryu supers, which can still be kinda good but obviously it’s not AS good. It’s also not just Spencer’s Bionic Lancer that can be the super here, it’s merely the fastest example; you can do the same thing with Wesker with a smaller subset of characters. I Task is only barely on the edge of it working for Lancer, though; in the videos posted, the opponent is hit 1 frame before the end of the super flash, so nothing else would probably work for him. AFAIK it was first posted about by SaishuuKessen many months ago.

Taskmaster (H.Arrow)/Doctor Doom (Plasma Beam)/Wesker (Samurai Edge Low)

I’ve really been enjoying this team lately. I love the ability to do a BnB from Taskmaster into Doom for the TAC “swag combo”. The damage output is awesome and the team synergy is good in my opinion. I just wanted to know what ideas you guys have for killing Vergil/Wolverine. I don’t know why but these 2 characters give me SO much trouble. I always try to pressure with Taskmaster with Doom assisting him but for some reason I always get blown up. I must be doing something wrong!

Any tips on DHC’ing to Vergil from task? should i skip using vergil to end task masters combos to make the dhc a little easier? or is there a way to get the diagonal arrow super and dhc into the belt.

You can either use the diagonal arrow super to DHC into Vergil (this is the best, probably most damaging and easiest way in my opinion)

You can also super jump up and use the Down arrow super and then DHC into Vergil, that will also allow you to use the sword loops.

A third way, depending on how your team is composed, is that you can use your assist to pick up the character with an arrow, then do Shield Skills xx Up Arrow xx Horizontal arrow super, and then you can DHC to Vergil from there.

if I completely misread your question and you were actually talking about using Vergil’s assist, use the tip that I just mentioned above, it works the same way. Time rapid slash so that the arrow pickup will allow vergil to carry them up, and then you can use s.skills -> :h: aim master into :l::m: legion arrows.

you can also get a sting master off of the vergil assist but it’s pretty difficult.

there were actually two questions there and you answered them both so thanks for that. Whenever i do a task bnb then arrow lift into vergil…S…launch J.S they always fall out of the belt…like the arrows don’t pick up enough. I’m totally perplexed cuz i’ve never seen them drop out of the belt…I’m probably mistiming something…for the time being i’ll just skip the vergil extension and go for diagonal arrows since its much more consistent.

So its impossible to combo off of a ground throw with task dorm doom right? (Dhole and missles)

Not sure how adelheid explained it, but with dark hole you have to make sure your close to the opponent, call dark hole then immediately right after jump up and shoot a down arrow.The hole will grab the opponent so that you can shield skills and go into a combo. This is pretty much what you have to do with alot of the slow assists like dark hole, plasma beam(when really close), spencers diaganol grab(not sure what its called), etc. I dont have too much experience playing Doom as I just picked him up and use plasma beam but with missles I know that if you call missles before a short combo with a shock sting ender, the missles will land and pick up the opponent so you can go into a combo. I dont know how to OTG with missles after a grab unless you preemtively called missles and then right after by chance got a grab as the missles are on there decent.

arent you by definition really close when you do a ground throw anyway (i mean the forward throw)

picking up after a throw with spencer is pretty easy imo, and im guessing it’s possible with dark hole since you explained it… but i’m still not getting it, this shit is rough lol

I meant in general you have to be close to your opponent(sometimes you have to pick up the opponent after a short combo,sharp sting, back and front throw, long combos that end in the corner and then extension, etc.), call dorm’s hole assist, then jump up and shoot a down arrow all before the opponent recovers. The timing is tricky and its def finnicky, but the hole has to come out and grab the opponent as the opponent is being lifted by the arrow, thats why you have to call dorms hole when next to the opponents body(and before you jump up and shoot the down arrow) becuase the hole comes out right in front of Task. The location of where the hole comes out is dependent on where Task is located when the assist was called. If you call it before your next to the opponents body, the hole wont be close enough to catch the opponent once hes lifted by the arrow. i know that must be damn confusing but I hope I helped ><.

Its so much easier using a fast projectile assist like Hawkeys triple arrow or Magnetos disruptor becuase you can swing and call the assist at the same time and then immediately do the quater circle motion+ h to pick them off the ground and convert. With a fast projectile you can convert and OTG in almost any area of the screen(damn near full screen even).

My team just keeps getting more cool.

I’m new to the forums and have been liking all the info that has been shared. I’ve been using Spencer-y/Task-a/Hulk-a since day 1 of vanilla but sad to say I lost interest in Spencer. I tried Thor Firebrand Chris Nova Sentinel Shuma Gorath but imo they didn’t mesh well, besides Sentinel who’s too big of a target. Although I like how Storm-a and Ironman-a or y go with the team but I’m curious of what you guys think. Also I was thinking of trying Ryu or Ammy as pointman so what’s your opinion SRK can u help a brutha out?
