Damn. Back to the lab.
hey guys. I’ve been working on a team of Taskmaster/Magneto/Akuma (I’ve read multiple posts about task/akuma synergy). I saw thisguilekillya’s post earlier on the team, and it helped out a lot. I’ve been having a bit of trouble with my anchor situations mainly because my Akuma’s pretty young. One solution is to obviously grind it out, but… I was just wondering about general Task/Mag synergy (if it exists) and what anchors could possibly fit on that team.
I do know about the throw pickups and the max damage dhc from legion arrows into magnetic shockwave (off of sting master). I read before that someone was wondering about that, but basically when you do sting master and then you do a web swing into M+H legion arrows, it puts you in the opposite corner so that you can get a max damage magnetic shockwave…it’s similar to the dr doom footdive autocorrect thing.
(i’m not actually sure if it’s autocorrecting or not, i don’t know how to explain it lol)
I tried Task/Storm/Akuma and they are working very good together, I do consider myself an above average tasky player but i still need more experience with the team. That being said i would prefer Iron man’s assist and Iron Man as a character, will see how things go but im pretty much set on Tasky/Iron Man/Akuma or Tasky/Storm/Akuma.
I’m certain i will eventually stick with Tasky/Iron Man/Akuma
I’m trying out some of Tab’s Task/Trish/Frank team, and it’s great. I find it’s hard to open people up with Taskmaster and those assists, but, the neutral is really fun if they’re playing safe. You can zone with peekaboo very effectively, and once they’re pushed to the corner, Task can throw out an unblockable, which equals profit.
Also, looking for some good strings with cart, I’m just now getting really happy with the string cr.M + call cart, swing, it gives a lot of options, a good amount of momentum, pushes them far, and can actually lead to some faster mixups. What else have people discovered for some Task/Cart strings?
use cart for pressure and high fuzzy guard/low mixups. use trish trap for low/throw mixups, which are much harder to decide against and react to. you can’t mash buttons on trap mixups because if you do, you get hit by the trap and die in the exchange. trish trap controls the opponent’s escape options better than cart, which is more of a ‘regular’ lockdown assist, but that’s more of what task wants in his mixup game since he needs to force them onto the ground.
I’ve noticed how useful the trish assist is for throw mixups, but I’ve always felt I cannot high/low effectively with Task. But yeah, thanks for that. Also, holy crap, I am loving this team. I’m thinking there might be a way to team ToD if you hit in the corner, like the firebrand loops with tenderizer.
So, theory fighter, Task hits a combo, be it unblockable, regular hit, whatever, and he snaps them back while calling peekaboo, they come in, block peekaboo, cart unblockable into a combo, end with down arrows super, DHC to scythe, Tag in Taskmaster and do sword master, TAC combo leading to death. So, they have the second character coming out soon, and the first with lowered hp. Trish is out, throw round trip at the incoming character, Tag tasky, cart unblockable, down arrows hyper, scythe dhc, second unblockable to a kill, they have one guy left. Either you do what you did last time, TAC to trish and set up another round trip on incoming, or DHC to Trish Scythe, tag Task back in and get an unblockable that way, and you kill their first character without a fuss.
I’m thinking somewhere in this you might need a bit of meter gain, but if you pop XF sometime in the combo, I think this team might not even need to level up Frank. Tab, what do you think? I know for a fact that Tasky builds more than one meter off the followup to his shopping cart unblockable. I think it sounds pretty feasible.
you can mash throw/xfc out of raw boomerang->unblockable. it’s not really guaranteed. also if the characters have invincible supers they can xfc super to get you off them, or potentially birthday you (if it’s spencer).
also when they land their blockstun resets, so they can throw or do whatever out of it if you’re doing airborne opponent meaty boomerang setups. the big issue is that taskmaster’s unblockable doesn’t hit meaty, and it doesn’t hit airborne opponents that well, so there’s always going to be some sort of escape option given certain characters.
i don’t think he has any true team killing setups, but at the very minimum he can break through the meat of a lot of team compositions that don’t have invincible moves to escape with.
Yeah, I meant to say, XF will break through the team touch of death, but you get to force them to XF, and maybe XF yourself or go into counter hyper.
Anyway, I plan on going for the team touch of death, to at least mess up their team order, possibly remove a good assist, and pop their X-factor. All that sounds like a decent thing, especially because Task, Trish, and Frank are all decently proficient solo XFless, and removing XF from both sides will only be to their advantage. Though I’ll miss crazy-ass Trish XF combos…
Put Task/Dorm/Dante and let the fun begin, seriously this team has great potential for keepaway and rushdown at the same time, just 2 hours of using it and i think i am in love with this team.
Tasky racks up good amounts of meter, while doing around 650k+ with assists. I assume Dark Hole and Jam Session are being used, which really boost the meter gain.
Tasky gets around 1.5 bars in his easy BnB and with one assist extension (Dark Hole) at the end of the combo, he gets 2 meters easy, while doing high amounts of damage.
Though i haven’t ptimized my Task combos because i don’t use him a lot, but after using this team i think i am gonna main it, right now i do like 660 with one assist, though usually i have chipped like 200k or more so i don’t have problem with the damage right now, when i am familiar with the team i am gonna optimize the combos, also it is just Task i need to learn since i know everything of Dante and some intermediate to advance stuff of Dorm, also in the corner in a SJ you can DHC Legion Arror (Diagonal) to Stalking Flare, charge 2 hands liberate them ,etc.
Taskmaster/Dante/Sentinel is also pretty great, and it give you acces to the 2 bar THC for an unblockable, the problem is obviously that you are stuck with sentinel, but Taskmaster having great life means that is less probable to die after a clean hit than a lot of the cast.
Dante is possible top 3 BFs of Taskmaster, it give him neutral game, combo extensions, unblockables, it takes taskmaster to another level.
Also i think Taskmaster is one of the few if not the only one outside of the top tiers that can handle anyone with the right support, also it has the best durability of all the cast he has the most life with a normal size body, has good options in the air and in the ground, it is pretty versatile, even if there are other ones who zone better or rush better, it doesn’t matter because you can change your neutral game according to the matchup if you are backed up with the right support, this character has so great potential that maybe i will change my main team Dante/Dorm/Sentinel to Task/Dorm/Dante , he has the life, the moves and the fact that he can abuse Dark Hole makes Dorm more viable.
Dante is definitely Task’s BFF, and I wouldn’t play Task in any other way. It’s just too good/cheap. The neutral game with Jam Session is very good and shits on the majority of the cast, the unblockable setups are too godlike, the mixups and fuzzy guard setups are amazing too. Jam Session extends combos fairly well and gives you 760k with 1 bar off a crL starter with the basic bnb. Task has no problems confirming off Jam Session at any height, it keeps his Shield Skills safe and also allows him to confirm off Shock Sting, it’s perfect synergy, it also gives him left/right mixups with normal jump kara H arrows. I like Task/Dorm/Dante as a team, it seems very versatile and very effective, you don’t get to abuse the THC XFC unblockable without 3 bars, but you still get to use the other unblockable setups(not sure if Dorm can help Task pick up though so you might need to XFC).
I currently main Magneto/Task/Dante or Task/Dante/Magneto depending on the matchup, and I do love the versatility a team like this offers, and I’m sure Dorm will fit into the shell just as well.
I agree, task really uses Dante support at his max potential, i like dorm on 2nd because is pretty easy to kill an assist with him on that spot, Also Task is one of the few characters that can use Dark Hole and benefit from it, and Dorm loves Arrows and with Jam Session is pretty godlike too, is like having 2 incredible backed characters who can play keepaway and rushdown at the same time, and even if Dante is not the beast on XF3, he is still very capable of playing solo, though i miss to spam Drones but obviously using Sentinel sometimes is a liability because how difficult is to use him solo, Task was like the exact character i needed, one who can abuse Jam Session and benefits from Dorm , best durability of all the cast(high life with normal body) , a ‘‘beam’’ hyper, can DHC from anywhere with both characters, does good damage, and his DLC costume is godlike.
Maybe i will try Taskmaster/Dante/?? for an alternate team, i mean Task/Dorm/Dante is incredible and definetely will be one of my 2 main teams, though i want a ‘‘fun team’’ with Task and Dante, maybe i could change the order of Dorm and Dante, but i don’t like dark hole for Dante, and Dorm with Jam Session is too cheap to not use it, maybe i will try Felicia or Frank but not sure.
Thanks for your post, it helped me to be more convinced of sticking with this team.
Task/Dante/Akuma is so good and very fun while allowing both Task and Dante to go nuts, Task/Dante/Hawkeye or Doom or Magneto aren’t too shabby either. Dante on anchor isn’t the derpiest thing in the game, but he’s definitely capable of winning any matchup especially if he activates Devil Trigger, the only problem I see with Dorm/Dante shell is that Dorm is very susceptible to tracking teleports with his zoning and that’s not something that Jam Session covers unlike Missiles.
Yeah i got punished from not being aware the first time i fought a Vergil with this shell, but after some matchup experience that liability in the keepaway against teleporters became an ‘‘strength’’, because the first thing is that they can’t call assists when the meteors are falling or i am doing pillars, so they do empty teleports, and that is when i try to punish them, basically i try to bait them into doing the empty teleports, Vergil is a problem if he has swords active, but thanks to how he suceptible is to incoming mixups i can do almost impossible to block flame+carpet+Jam Session to force to keep them on blockstun + overhead, also i have not tested yet but i think i can punish when Vergil activates swords with a Chaotic flame on reaction, and dorm can also play an effective rushdown game with Arrows and Jam Session for extensions.
I am not really used to Tatsu, a friend say is great with Dante but i feel more comfortable with Drones, though Akuma is a much better anchor so maybe i am gonna try it and see how good it is.
Any advice on Task on point? Been playing him on point for awhile now, just want to see what other players have developed with their point game.
One of the easiest tactics is to call assists (Jam Session, Drones, Hidden Missiles) and just chip away with arrows.
There isn’t much to explain about Taskmaster on point, other than playing intelligently and zoning with awareness and calling assists correctly. It’s also very important to pressure with Shield Skills + Assist, and to play a footsie game with crL or crM or stM which are all easily hit confirmed, on block you should go into mighty swing + assist into fuzzy guard high/low mixups. He has assist specific setups but all it boils down to is playing inteligently and abusing your sword normal pokes + shield skills in the midrange and keeping chars out with Arrows while confirming into supers while you can. Jumping Kara M arrow +full screen horizontal assist is a good way to approach, and Kara M arrows is a good way to punish beam spam into a full combo from full screen.
Zone Zone Zone. calmly zone. do not just recklessly throw shit on screen. Mix up between 1 and 3 arrows to keep them guessing. If you really want to get in, try a Spidey Swing xx Arrows. Its a ghetto Air dash that results in you quickly moving forward while shooting arrows.
Gonna go back to my Haggar Chris Taskmaster team.
I recorded my Task/Dante unblockable setups, feel free to copy/steal, this combination is so ridiculously good:

Explanations are in this thread and in the videos. Cheers
Edit: I forgot to record the last setup, which is doing H arrows in the middle of the screen after a kill(gravity squeeze actually sets this up perfectly dat synergy) then going for Shield Skills + Jam into unblockable.
