Taskmaster Matchup and Team building thread

is there a way to connect legoin of arows midscreen after air combo after s button is hit in the air. i can do this in the corner no problem but midscreen seem much harder? any combos and what up with the spidey loop?

This, but to answer your question directly… the CPU will be able to block an “unblockabe” setup, presumably unless you make the high and low hit on the exact same frame… even then the cpu might still block it.

Yeah, as I explained above Im calling in the low assist as Im using spidey swing and then coming down with the aerial attack pretty much at the same time. So yeah, it’s as I expected: the computer is just doing things that are either unlikely or impossible for a human opponent to do.

I’ve been running Tasky/Sentinel/Felicia
Unblockables with Spidey Swing for overheads with a low assist is great and drones give him two unblockable setups.

With Taskmaster it seems you have a few things to look for:

  1. A ground hitting DHC to complete his BnB of his super to up damage into 8-900k region
  2. A low hitting assist to improve low-brow spidey swing mix-ups
  3. A long pressure assist to use your un-blockable
  4. A character than can use meter since Task builds it so fast

Currently, I’ve been using Task/Ryu(tatsu)/Sent(youknowwhichone) and primarily relying on just keeping long pressures to do unblockables to super and then using Ryu to burn meter with chip and hoping to get some good catches.

I’m gonna try and switch it up with Viper(seismic) replacing Ryu because spidey swing mix-ups are dirt easy and allowing me to DHC to finish people off. Klrt aka SS replacing Sent because it seems his stun lasts forever.

Pretty sure if you do the L + H legion arrow in the air it hits. Little bit harder to time then the corner one tho.

I’ve been running Taskmaster (H. Arrow)/Hulk (Gamma Wave)/Sentinel (Bombs) though I’ll most likely switch Bombs to Rocket Punch once I get more comfortable with the characters, both Task and Hulk benefit greatly from the OTG but I’m still scrubbing it up so the screen spam is helping for the first few days.

Lot of full screen pressure. Taskmaster can zone like crazy with his arrow mixups combined with the pushback and projectile destroying Gamma Wave.

When I want to approach I generally :atk::atk:, :a2:, :b:+:h: to close the distance with some cover. If they block the shield charge you can cancel it into :qcf:+:l: for a little pushback and sets enough space for :dp:+:l:,:h:,:qcf:+:h: and depending on the screen position :qcf::uf::m::h: if in the corner.

Outside of the corner I seem to get better results from ending the unblockable with :qcf:+:l::m: instead of :qcf:+:h:. Both of these DHC very well into :qcf::atk::atk: Gamma Tsunami which hits OTG too.

Some of the air combos I end with :qcf:+:l::m: and DHC into :qcb::atk::atk: Gamma Crush, but I haven’t attempted it too many times and missed the upward hit from Hulk probably because I’m pressing it too slow or pushed too far away before Legion Arrows. Haven’t had much time to really fool around with possible setups.

Tasky is a good battery character by himself. He builds meter pretty fast.

^^ This. While his Legion Arrow is really good, sometimes I’ll neglect it. When I want to build meter (I’ve been playing around with phoenix on this team) I get a few shots in from a distance then run up some pretty lengthy combos with Taskmaster into air exchange twice to bring Phoenix in. I’m usually close to if not at 5 bars if all goes well. Bang with her until she dies then swap her back out for Taskmaster.

I play Tasky (a), Tony (a), Chun (g). I’m a big fan of beam assists with Tasky since its so easy to force a backroll in this game. Also, his otg aerial arrow super picks opponents up off the ground high enough to allow a dhc into Proton Canon.

I had Robert Stark Jr. on my team too but I took him out because I think he himself isn’t all that great of a character. DHC’s into Proton Cannon ARE pretty sexy though.

Currently trying out this team and it’s working wonders for me.

Taskmaster/Haggar/LeiLei

You basically can swap LeiLei or Task for first, depending on who you’re fighting. I keep her out in front for zoners and to set DFP faster, while Taskmaster can be DHC’d or safe switched in depending. For the most part though, Task is my main fighter to sweep the field. Using L. Aim Master combos to help keep pressure up and Haggar’s Lariat to cover if necessary. It especially helps in dealing with heavy rushdown people like X-23 or Magneto when they’re in. Haggar’s Lariat also helps lead to his BnB or a hyper to reset my zoning game.

Task will have Horizontal Shot, Haggar with Double Lariat, and LeiLei with Pendulum. DFP helps both of the men come in obviously, while Task gives me extra zoning/approach options for my other two respectively. The only problem is that the team has a bit of a problem getting in fast.

Any critiques? I especially like how easy it is to set up Sword Master with this team.

Tasky does need a good get off of me assist. Clever choice with Haggar, never thought of that.

Also, how good are the Up Tilt Arrows for Anti-Air?

The way I was working with it, you’d use the parabola arrows only to ping Sentinel really for long range. I stick with horizontal so that Haggar has another method to get in, since charged arrows still give frame advantage to the big guy. In Task’s case, either the full vertical or horizontal is usually my choices. Vertical keeps tri-dashers and overly aerial foes like Spencer and Spidey in check. Haggar and Lei Lei keep the AA pretty much solid with Task’s wavedashes. I only say that cause he sweeps in pretty low and fast while he does his.

Nothing quite as satisfying as getting Haggar to Lariat a gap in a rushdown, then knocking off 50-60 percent of their health with a modified BnB.

Yeah, I’ve been running Thor/Haggar/Task, and Thor’s been pretty dead weight so far (I’m trying really hard to learn him and it ain’t working yet) but Haggar lariat assist behind Tasky is the some of the most delightful trolling around.

It works great with breaks in the rushdown, as mentioned above, but it’s also hilarious and brilliant if you’re spending the match running away and pestering your opponent with arrows. He finally makes it through a gap or misstep in your zoning, closes in for some rushdown, and HA HA NOPE LARIAT BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME. Yeah, It’s pretty satisfying.

I think I’m going to drop the low assist I’m using(whatever that may be, I switch between Wesker and Felicia) with Haggar. First of all, I feel like unblockables using Swing and low assists are too hard to set up what with pushblocking being so good so I wanted a new member. Second of all, it seems to me that ol’ Tasky here has trouble when someone like Zero, Chun, or Wolvie gets in, so a completely invincible assist sounded good. Finally, for anyone who’s seen Floe play Haggar, I’m thinking of using the vertical arrow assist with Haggar’s dropkick roll thing for a similar set up to what Floe does with him and Sentinel. Thoughts?

I’m playing Taskmaster(horizontal shot)/Doom(missiles)/Haggar(Lariat) now and I think they work well. I’ll try that idea with the vertical shot assist you mentioned above.

Magneto (ER dist) / Sentinel (bombs)/ Taskmaster (parabolic shot)

so far my team is taskmaster (vertical shot)/deadpool (trigger happy)/sentinel (charge)

the weak link is deadpool’s assist. his specials are great but his assists are horrible for this team IMO.
task really does need a gtf off me assist. too bad capcom isn’t in.

I’ve been playing Taskmaster(vert), Storm(ww) and Doom(rocks). I didn’t put too much thought into team makeup other than hyper synergy and a good assist for running away and mixups.
