low assist + taskmaster would be pretty good
what are some characters with good low assists?
Wesker
Felicia
She Hulk
X-23
are there more?
Shuma-Gorath will have one. Deadpool has one too. Not sure if Trish does or not.
Still figuring this out, but currently liking Task/Ryu/Capt. Fairly basic characters, but they can cover some of Task’s approaches/projectiles fairly well depending on the assist. Shield Slash is surprisingly useful for closing in on blocking opponents thanks to its two hit projectile, and hadoken/tatsu is good for covering approaches to get in on the opponent or within range to slash at em. Parabollic shot is good to nail normal jumpers or people attempting to evade a ground level attack.
Switch up either with an anti-air assist to cover any delay attacks. its a decent team to run with. You sacrifice OTG assist possibilities, but his Arrow Hyper OTG can make up for some of it.
my team as of now. task/cap. task vertical shot assist, and cap shield slash assist. caps shield slash helps me close in, and offers a little bit of lock down with the returning hit. i havent fiddle too much with the vertical shot assist with cap into play, im using it as space control at the moment, and somewhat of an anti air. as for my third character… i havent find em yet, i need someone that will mesh well with task/cap…
Right now I have been going Hsien-ko/Morrigan/Taskmaster or Hsien-Ko/Doramammu/Taskmaster and his anti-air shot assist is good. I think Vertical shot assist is okay but what makes his shots so good is if an opponent is near the parabolic anti air ones they will track them.
Taskmaster BNB -> Storm DHC is touch of death against a lot of the weaker characters (about 820-40K). I hope to find a 900K 2 meter combo so I can make Dante teams cry. I have B Task and A Storm and don’t really know what else to use. Doom Missles? Tron Bonne fire? Dormammu pillar?
Sent A
Sentinel is the most boring character in the game try again.
Also about his overhead? Does it function as a trick low considering if you block it high you’re gonna eat even more damage? I don’t really get the whole unblockable follow up thing.
Does he have frame advantage on hit?
Taskmaster does NOT have an overhead. dp+Atk is a mid that leads to an unblock-able chain.
Taskmaster A, Storm A, Dante A
We all know why Storm is in the group; she can run Point if she needs to, and she can tack damage onto the end of Taskmaster’s combos (if you have the meter). I picked A assist to further help Taskmaster’s ranged game (arrows and whirlwind pretty much mean your projectiles own the screen).
Dante is there for similar reasons. He can run Point, he’s good at building meter, and he has Jam Session. Jam Session is an awesome assist on it’s own, but Taskmaster can use it to set up his unblockable (only works in the corner):
The opponent is in the corner and you’re on the offensive. You do this string: cr.A, cr.B, Jam Session Assist, st.C, dp+A. If they block, then you follow up the dp+A with: C(unblockable), qcf+C, Air qcf+C, Air qcf+2Atk. If they don’t block, then you juggle off of the Jam Session. The Jam Session will last right until the unblockable Headbutt hits. If they Advancing Guard this set-up, then you’re back out…which is fine. BUT if they don’t Advancing Guard before the Jam Session is blocked, then you will not get pushed away.
EDIT: When the opponent is in the corner and you are about 1/3 of the screen away, then you can call a Jam Session Assist and immediately input dp+B. They do not have a chance to Advancing
Guard this set-up, but it is a risky move for you (because both Taskmaster and Dante could eat some big damage if the opponent sees this coming).
I am trying to balance either a Task, Hulk, X23 or a Task, Hullk, Spenc. Right now I just Task Hulk, Spence.
My teams strength.
You may not think but Task, Hulk, and Spencer have a great synergy in DHC’s. Almost any DHC combos one after another this is due to the flexibility of Task Storm Arrow Hyper which can aim in three directions ground and air as well a OTG. Spencer Bionic Arm is gdlk. It goes through almost any projectiles and usually my anti projectile character even though he’s melee his arm gets him around the stage. Hulk is the bruiser, slow but powerful, i use him as the middle man.
The weakness.
The team is having trouble building meter. I may have to sacrafice a character either Hulk or Spencer for a meter builder. I was using X-23 and while im comfortable with combos she has a terrible assist. Also have diffiuclty keeping out projectile heavy characters that just fill the screen with bs. Without a air dash it’s difficult. Taskmaster can SJ and do a air H Aim of hawkeye to rain on his opponent as he lands, a great stratagie againts Sentinel who waits for you to jump at him and he boots you for free.
One of my biggest problems is the Team Exchange with Taskmaster coming in. I can’t get his air combos to connect well. When you do an excange with Taskmaster coming in, what is your BnB to ensure your combo connects and maybe otg for a hyper?
I welcome any tips to improving this team for Taskmaster.
Wesker (Jag Kick)/Sentinel (Drones)/Taskmaster (Aim Master H). This team is ridiculous. Utterly and completely ridiculous.
Out of the several teams I’m using my best Task team is probably Task/Sent-Bombs/Doom-Rocks, total control of the screen and zoning a sure fire way to piss someone off. I need to assist punish I switch to Task/Storm/Sent becaue DHC Ice Storm is still beast. My fun team is Spencer/Task/Doom
Hmmm Did a little reworking, I discovered X-23 has a air attack that dashes straigh down over their head. It’s not an over head but it nasty for pressure. My complaint is I couldn’t get a team that could build meter enough so Taskmaster can function. Well…
After working on my pressure game I think my team is balanced.
X-23 Y / Taskmaster Y / Hulk B
This team is not overly powerful but it works. x-23 builds the energy. Basically I can’t stay in one place too long. Long distant wall jumps, long distant unblockable grabs. i keep the opponent guessing. By the time I get about 3 levels I go for her BnB into Rage Trigger then DHC to Tasky’s Storm Arrow vertcal. If X-23 has enough health to continue I switch immediatly back to X-23, either way I found a way to keep some meter.
Not perfect but the team is so annoying I’ve already caused a few Rage quits and Lag switches. The weakness is X-23’s health, she get his she’s gonna hurt so you gotta use her speed and abuse it like crazy.
Hulk plays an important anti air role, his Anti Air Gamma Charge is great (solution to my original problem). And of course Hulk is a brute. s.H atk FTW!!! I just need to work on Tasky’s advanced combos and figure out how to link X-23’s air combos during the hideous lag spots.
I’ve been beasting it with wesker / mags / task using his H. arrows assist. Just figured i’d throw in my team i’ve grove fond of over the past day on a 11 hour session.
Task (AA Shot)/Skrull (Orbital Grudge)/Doom (Rocks)
Team is stupid fun right now. Skrull helps with Mighty Swing/Unblockable setups, Doom helps with Unblockables/pressure, Task can help Skrull with AA Elastic Slams, etc.
Sooooooo fun.
I finally caved in and switched out Iron-Man in my team for Wesker because of the low shot assist (and the fact that he’s a damn good character himself, whereas I don’t think Iron-Man is that good at all) and I have Doom with hidden missiles. I found a dirty little setup I might put on video later if I can quantify all of it’s possibilities, but basically say you are going to go for a tick throw with like standing:snka:, you basically do :snka:+:a2: (where Doom Hidden Missiles would be in my case) > Backthrow. As they get up, they are forced to stay in place as the missiles come down and you can do a short dash, XX :dp::snkc: into some hot unblockable action if they chose to wake up guarding the missiles. Since SM is cancellable into super, it can be confirmed eassily into :qcf::snka::snkb:. I haven’t verified whether or not the setup is Iron-Clad yet, it seems more solid if you do two jabs before you throw where the first one is used to hide the doom assist. If you do this, the missiles are truly meaty on their wakeup after the backthrow, whereas if you do one jab with missiles there’s a tiny space. Gotta experiement more with the setup.
Also, I have a question and was hoping someone could help me out. I was trying the “unblockable” setups in training mode setting the computer to guard all, and I was wondering if in this setting the computer is able to guard against unblockables. I tried almost every timing variation I could on the setup and I wasn’t really able to get the computer to eat the setup. Im aware that the computer is able to shift guard faster than the human hand but even still it should not be that hard to get a perfect unblockable given the amount of blockstun on the moves unless the computer is breaking the game rules. Somebody clarify this for me.
Unless you’re using a jumping move, then Taskmaster doesn’t have an overhead. That might be your problem.
uhhhh…Im hitting :f::snkc:+:a1:/:a2: at the end of a pressure string (depending on where the low assist is) and then cancelling the swing with an AERIAL :snkc:/:snkd: just as wesker is shooting the Dummy’s foot. I don’t know where you got the impression that I thought the character had ground based overheads…
