Taskmaster Matchup and Team building thread

Wesker is the obvious best choice back there in my opinion. Otg Enders for task, high lows for doom and a legit anchor.

Spencer would be I think most people’s choice for second best here, maybe even first. Personally though I think ammy is a very good anchor with a great lockdown assist.

Ammy as anchor is usually going to have access to lvl 3 xfactor which makes her almost too fast to block consistently. She has a lvl 3 that is easy to connect solo and has really good mixups for incoming characters. Her big drawback is her health but your anchor is usually going to get killed off one hit anyways since your opponent can blow everything to get them down. So as an anchor her health really isn’t too much of a problem.

I was trying to think of a good x for xxx Task Akuma or Task xxx Akuma. These are my 4 main considerations, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on if one or more was clearly superior to the others. In no partic order, except the first one is currently my first choice:

Task Hawkeye Akuma- I really like Hawkeye, and both Task and Akuma give him crossups with assist + QCB+H. Gimlet isn’t the craziest DHC, but it works, and I can always TAC into Poison Arrow xx Gimlet xx Legion Arrows. The space control with all the arrows could be strong, and both Task and Hawk very much like a Tatsu

Nova Task Akuma- I actually like this a lot, my main problem is I’m not sure how helpful Nova’s assist is for Task. On paper the unblockable potential is strong, but do people really stay on the ground long enough to set this up with any consistency (since Nova’s overhead is semi-slow and short range)?

Task Doom Akuma- Task with missiles and Tatsu sounds like a home run, but for strong DHCs, I feel like I’d need Akuma 2nd and Doom 3rd, and not really sure I want that. I guess I could do the TAC thing as mentioned above for Hawkeye.

Task Ammy Akuma- A great team, but honestly my main issue is that it’s Moons’ team exactly. Unless it is THE purely optimized Tatsu-Task, I’d rather put my own spin on it. That’s really my only beef with it, though, and will play it if the general consensus is that the above 3 setups are vastly inferior.

The following chain for Task backed by Nova Overhead Kick Assist is something I’ve used and opens up people pretty well

Task on Point and :a1: = Nova Assist

Shield Skills ( :b: + :h: ) + :a1: xx Sting Master ( :d::df::f: + :s: ) --> Dash ( :atk::atk: ) xx cr. :l:

Basically, Shield Skills and Sting Master will ground almost anyone and then you literally get a high-low that is very hard to chicken block since Nova Assist brings 'em down so quickly.

Interesting. Is Sting Master safe on block? Dumb question I know, but I haven’t really been into Task since vanilla, where there was no Sting Master lol I forgot to even mess around with it!

Yea it is, I think it’s like -3… Not certain on the frames but I know it is at least Safe. My team doesn’t have a good assist to cover shield skills(but great combo extenders)

So I pretty much do Sting Master after every blocked Shield Skills and it’s never been punished

I am Currently running Dorm(Dark Hole)/Sent(Charge Drones)/Wesker(Sam Edge) and I want to switch to Task/Sent/Wesker, Ideas? Replacements? I’d like to really keep Sent/Wesker.

Also what would be the best assist for Task on this team? (T/S/W)

keep the same assists they would really help Task

What assist would help sentinel the best? Assuming I DHC/Hard-Tag sentinel in, What task assist should i use, Aim Master?

Can task consistently protect a drone call?

Sorry for double post, I’m in a traffic jam and editing is a pain on this phone.

What do you guys think of hidden missiles vs plasma beam backing task? (Task doom akuma) Two of my fav players are honzo and josh wong. So that makes it even harder to decide. I’ve got some missiles experience from vanilla, so beam is more of a variable for me,but id love to hear someone knowedgable drop a few pros and cons for each. I love to run and to rush, so I’m erring on the side of missiles since I have tatsu, but I do love having two attacking assists I can alternate. Thanks!

Its really up to you. Id say Task with missiles is better overall as that assist is just more versatile and you can convert off missile hits with task as well as you can with plasma beam. You can also get combo extensions with missiles that arent available with plasma beam, like the double legion arrow combo in the corner. Missiles are also better for Akuma if you ever end up with him 2nd and Doom last.

That being said, Plasma beam can work just as well for your zoning and rushdown with task. Josh Wong and Dragon God are both running Task/Plasma beam teams and having success and I used Task/Plasma beam throughout vanilla so I know its good from personal experience. Id say plasma beam is better if you really want a dominant ground game as jumping M arrows + plasma beam really cover the whole bottom half of the screen. Missiles cover everywhere but they dont dominate all areas like plasma beam does on the ground. Then again Task has good options for dominating the air himself thanks to his ground H arrows.

They are both solid assists that help Task in all areas. I think Missiles has the edge overall but if plasma beam has been working for you, theres not huge reason to switch.

I actually play Task, Hawk, and Akuma and am loving it so far. Using Hawkeyes triple shot assist to cover Task’s shield skills and Akumas tatsu for pressure/extending combos. One draw back like you were saying was Hawks poor dhc, but with Tasks high damage output on his own doesn’t make this a big issue. Hawk and Akuma have pretty good synergy surprisingly to me, and both are pretty deadly as anchors. The big biggest drawback to me is that they both have very low health, so after Task your team is pretty paper thin.

Thanks! As soon as I clicked “Post Reply” I remembered that missiles being much better for Akuma is a critical factor, and when I play a xxx Doom Akuma, I try to get Akuma out backed by missiles, usually via DHC. As evidenced by a post from yesterday, I’m struggling to think up the ideal Tatsu-Task team for me. I tried Ammy last night, which I didn’t want to do since it’s Moons’ exact team, but it’s theoretically very strong. Even Weasel Shot Dante could be good just to give Task a back n forth between tatsu and Weasel <shrug>

I would use Horizontal Arrow for almost every character and for Sent you are going to be in the air a lot and using the h. arrows covers ground space so they can’t run under you. Besides you wouldn’t need to cover Sent in the air that much because he is a master at controlling air space (Frying Pan all day).

Shield Skills! (s. M, s. H, and Mighty Swing are good too)

Sent sits around for a long time when he drops the lil drones off at day care. Does shield skills on its own last long enough for Sent to get back in his car and head to work?

add in Sting Master if they block or L arrows to push them back. Shield skills blows through almost everything except low attacks and is unsafe on block that’s the major problems with it

I have to say Task/Plasma beam assist is godly. Theres a great mixup with the assist and then jumping spidey swininging and canceling into a whiffed aim master. almost as good as tatsu/wolverine though more predictable

And here I came to post that I had some great success with missiles, and see a sweet Plasma tactic. I’ll have to try both, but I was REALLY diggin’ missiles last night. Felt unstoppable

Plasma beam is good for certain situations but but hidden missiles is go for almost every situation

Task/Dorm/Akuma is also a solid team too. Amazing synergy between all three. The DHC synergy is frighteningly good. While Dorm assist is ok for pressure, you can always DHC Dorm in and have two great assists backing him up.
