Hey guys I’m looking for your input on my Taskmaster, Spencer, Wesker team.
For the first time I’m actually choosing characters I enjoy playing with (Yep I chose characters based on appearance). Taskmaster and Spencer are hoot, I absolutely love doing combo’s with them. While using wesker is going to give me some dirty looks, it was a necessity because I needed a strong anchor.
I basically suck at choosing anchors. I tried Nova and Dormammu but I seem to can’t get that right anchor. I’m looking at ditching Wesker because while I can play him alright, I hate playing him. You guys got any suggestions for an anchor?
I was wondering if anyone had some good general matchup advice vs vergil. No specific problems (aside that he can mash and land hits lol), but most of my regular opponents use. Him. So since I’m really getting into task now, figured id see if there were any key dos and donts I should keep in mind.
For banzboy, I agree with triple akuma is that team’s best bet. Sentinel would be good too, but likely akuma best. Also you might consider spencer first. He really likes an arrows assist and task doesn’t mind coming in with a few meters stocked.
Oh and triple, regarding dorm. I saw that in your sig and thought it was a good idea for sure. Though since that post I landed on missiles doom and haven’t looked back since. And akuma with missiles is incredible. I have doom in back so task gets a dhc in akumas beam, etc.
Vergil is good and has nasty crossups with long range normals but he has some pretty unsafe options. When fighting him you need to be patient and make sure to block right. Most of his moves have a lot of recovery so that’s when you go in to punish. (His teleport is unsafe too so don’t be afraid to punch him back) and with Taskmaster do not get the bad habit of doing Shield Skills all the time. It is unsafe on block so if you do use it and they block it always cancel it into Sting Master. It is safe and often catches people off guard. When zoning with Task his up arrows are very effective especially against annoying assholes like Zero who love to attack from the air.
that also works depending on the assist Akuma’s Tatsu and Amaterasu’s Cold Star are great examples swap between the two option to keep your opponent guessing
Does task have any good fuzzy guard setups? Like, say I have someone locke down with a tatsu or cold star or something. If I do a deep jump in H, then immed jump MHS am I correct ill get the extra overheads as if they’re standing? Something like that. Just wondering if this is a valid tactic with task as in theory it should be quite powerful with his air normals.
The sequence works well vs sent. Because it hits even if he crouches. So I’m asking if via fuzzy guard if it would hit similarly against mid-sized characters that would normally avoid it by crouching.
yeah it does. it doesn’t work on those guys who get really low like morrigan and wolverine though… also in the corner most of the chars i’ve tested it on you have to do neutral jump mhs instead of forward jump
Any objections? Improvements? Order switching? I was just thinking that Sentinel Force will help me get in while Akuma Tatsu can extend my combos. Criticism would be appreciated, thanks!
I believe that with proper spacing/timing, you can do air H arrows into air 45 degrees arrows super in the corner. This should let you DHC into chaotic flame, I’ve only seen this on streams though, not done it myself, so take that with a grain of salt. Another option is to do horizontal arrows super in the air instead of knocking them down once you get to the corner. Again, haven’t tried it myself, but I would think you could DHC into stalker flare off this. My last idea (yet another one that I have not tried myself >_>) is to do shield skills xx up arrows super after picking them up into Dark Hole assist, or alternatively just do horizontal/angled arrows super if that doesn’t work.
Moons and/or stark (though I’m under the impression anchors task), or anyone who abuses cold star with task, what are some good setups, akin to shield skills + tatsu, but for cold star? Both for forcing. Them to block cold star (or get hit. By it if they feel so inclined), and some ideas once they’re already blocking it.
Basically, I’m loving task akuma doom to death, and feel tatsu was made for task… BUT also really want to explore the whole doom ammy thc complex. Magneto is a great point for that, but just not feasible online. But our ol buddy task fits that shell beautifully. I’m not interested in dropping doom (since running moons’ team suggests itself), but I’m finding that while cold star is amazing for task, I’m not really able to formulate it like I can tatsu.
Can you offer any key strategies and tactics for making the most of cold star Task? (Aside from lockdown for unblockable, since that doesn’t seem like a good “main goal,” correct me if that’s wrong. For neutral, rushdown, and welcome setups, please explain to me/us why cold star is uber cheap for tasky, like we all know she is. Then ill co-main task akuma doom and task doom ammy, and never need another team thanks!!
I mean I anchor Task normally but that’s not to say I never get switched around and never feel like changing things up.
Cold star allows you to do a few cool things in terms of combos. I could explain it… Or I could just say wait for tomorrow night’s combo video… And it’s great when called at the same time as charging star. In the corner you can set up unblockables with it, elsewhere you can just make it safe as a poke followed by launcher or whatever. Also on oncoming characters you can do silly stuff like call it and then repeatedly cross under the opponent, then confirm a combo with whatever. It lasts awhile and the timing doesn’t really change against different characters.
DHC-wise, you can always go for a reset with Ammy after a DHC to her if you haven’t used a groundbounce (and Task doesn’t) by doing (j.:d::d:) j.:df::h: j.:d::d::l: :h: jc > air throw. But normally you’ll probably want to just double super if your choices are that and DHC to Ammy since Okami Shuffle has really low minimum damage.
Nice thanks! Thought the slower startup (compared to tatsu) makes it seem chargng star isn’t safe when called with cold star. Am I wrong? Seems like they can punish before the ice connects. If charging + cold keeps task safe, then forget I even asked, that’s easy lol
Also I was thinkin… can an assist (I dunno, maybe cold star for example) set up fuzzy guard? Like will jH, land, jMHS work fuzzy if they’re inalready in stun? Or does the initial jump hit have to cause the stun tto fuzzy?
Lol, what are they gonna do? Start mashing on buttons to punish Shield Skills when they see an Ammy Cold Star about to fire off in their face? Good luck, and have fun losing a character, besides you can make practically anything safe with an assist, you just have to keep timing it better until its 100% safe, you just end up having to skills a little later. Plus you can probably just guard break them instead, or just use Tasks million ways to keep derp skills safe ( Arrow cancels, Sting Master cancels, Supers/DHCs, delayed st.S until Cold Star lands etc )
I don’t fight any good Taskmasters ( let alone good Taskmasters that have a solid team built around him ), so I literally have just picked him up yesterday or so, I usually won’t try to set up for an unblockable until their 2nd/last character since on incoming I can just do whatever meaty setup I have + Cold Star, land into unblockable and XF-cancel into a quick 1 million to off most characters in the game. Tasks mixups on entry aren’t very scary other than that, so if I do end up popping my cherry on their 2nd character I try to tag in Doom ( depending on if I have meter, i’ll DHC into Vale of Mist, set up a paper and tag Doom in, typically thats a bit too much meter for my taste since I like to keep 2 at least for the threat of THCs to keep my opponent honest and my next entry mixup fails. If you have 5 though then no reason not to, XF1/2 Doom with slow down super and THC being banked is literally a free-er kill than Ourobouros) Of course, this will work with any character that has strong entry mixups and isn’t Doom, just using my Task team as an example.
That’s good shit, thanks. I play with some button-pressy folks (coughVergilscough) so if there’s a hole between Sheidl Skills and Cold Star, they WILL get that happy bday lol Maybe I just cant press them at the same time like a tatsu? Or can do one of those ass-covering measures you referred to like Sting Master.
So are you basically saying too if their 1st char is dead, you’ll pop XF on a given hit? Ive typically been reserving my XFs for when Task is dead and I bust a Doom Ammy THC. Though that doesn’t mean it’s the best way, just what ivebeen doing in my experimental stage.
Also, are you guys using fuzzy guard setups much w/ Task? Seems like they should be incredible for Task, especially if they work during a Cold Star lock.
