High-lows are not “unblockable” in the strictest sense of the word because if you you hit your opponent with a high and low attack at the same time, they can block high or low. Technically it’s a human unblockable as it’s supposed to be near impossible for someone to be able to either distinguish between which high or low is going to hit first or make them so close together that they can’t actually block fast enough. If you were trying it on the CPU, then it won’t work as the CPU can technically block them fast enough. If you were trying it on a human opponent make sure of the following:
Your opponent must be on the ground as air blocking negates the high-low option. Since Marvel is such a jumping intensive game, generally high-lows are considered inferior to left-right mix-ups since chicken blocking is a pretty standard practice. Usually people go for high-lows when they can pin the opponent down (e.g. Trish Boomerang Hyper for example) or can pressure them into being scared to jump (e.g. Strider Vajra Assist).

Spidey Swing is a mid-attack that can be blocked standing or crouching. It’s the air :l:, , :h: or :s: after you recover in the air that is considered the high attack. Forgive me if I mislead you to think you have to push the buttons at the same time. What you need to do is time it so Wesker shoots and you do an air attack after the spidey swing close together to make it difficult for you opponent to block. If you time the gunshot to be simultaneous with spidey swing, the opponent will just crouch block and be safe.
Hope that helps!
Edit: Thanks to Spider-Dan for the correction, I’m getting too old for this
I get it now thanks because I was looking for a new team and was looking for a bs anchor that benefits Task (being my favorite Marvel and best character) and now moved Task to point with Akuma on assist slot to help pressure and keepaway with Wesker for a bs anchor that ca benefit both Task and Akuma
Actually, if you hit high-low on the exact same frame, the opponent can block it high or low. You can see this with the team super Tenraiha instant-overhead shenanigans.
I was thinking of picking up Taskmaster for my team. The order would be Zero, Taskmaster, and Vergil. Is there anything I should know about Taskmaster using the rapid slash assist? I remember seeing somewhere that you could use rapid slash to set up Taskmaster’s unblock-able. Would anybody mind putting inputs or explaining how this works? Also is there anything else I should know about picking up Task?
Thanks in advance.
You definitely want to use horizontal arrows for Task, and Tatsu for Akuma. Taskmaster and Tatsu work very well together. You can apply safe shield skill pressure, do unblockables, extend combos, etc…
hey Mo0Ns I think I should ask you since I know you are a great Task/Akuma player when are good situations to use Akuma’s Tatsu assist for Task and whats a way to open an opponent up with Akuma? I constantly get wrecked with Akuma and I rarely get hits in with him
I’ll be happy for any Akuma/Task tech as well, since I still haven’t found better assist for my playstyle then Akuma (and I’ve tried pretty much every character in cast by now).
There’s other certain strong parts other then the combo extender. You can use Tatsu to combo of off every grab (ground and air) and to follow up Task’s counter hyper.Doing shield skills and tatsu at the same time is strong as well and serves many uses. You can anti air a lot of characters with it, use it in frame traps, beat zoners. You can actually go threw all three of Sentinels drones with shield skills +tatsu.
You can call Tatsu while zoning with arrows to keep ground opponents at bay as well. If you see tatsu land you can confirm full screen with the arrow hyper.
There’s also other little things that I do that are hard to explain (certain hit confirms and what not). I was thinking about making a video showing them all.
Opening people up with Akuma mostly revolves around the frame advantage his normals and dive kick give him and the threat of his overhead. If your in a situation where you have Akuma pointed with Task’s arrows assist you should always try to force your opponent to block the arrows and then you can mix up your opponent by going low or overhead.
Try to come up with setups that involve Task’s horizontal arrows covering your offense as you try to attack your opponent. If your opponent tries to jump to avoid the chip on the arrows, use that as an opportunity to air throw them or do a side to side mix up on their way down.
I see thank you for the advice I will work on it because I really want to use Task (regardless of place on team) but i figured Akuma could help him out but I am awful with him same goes for Wesker and any of the other top teirs so I decided to build my team around Task since hes my favorite and best character so Im running (and working on) Wesker, Akuma, Task or Task, Akuma, Wesker
I have recently picked up Taskmaster and was wondering where I should put him on my team. I currently run Dormammu (Dark Hole) and Wesker (Samurai Edge) yet, I am not sure what my team order should be since Task is the new addition to my team.
I think the best way to run it would be dorm/task/wesker because dorm benefits a lot from task horizontal arrows by setting up tele mixups. It’s pretty much common knowledge that wesker rips as anchor and his assist greatly benefits both your characters by letting dorm extend combos and allowing task to set up unblockables. However, every character is solid in this team so you could pretty much play it in any order and get decent results.
Struggling to decide which dead pool assist is better for task. katana rama or quick work? Katana rama allows me to get otg full combo off any sting master, anywhere on the screen, while quick work lets me set up unblockables after spidey swing. I’m leaning towards quick work, because i can still get decent damage with beam assist/swing otg arrows after sting master. Any advice?
edit*
Actually just found my answer on the dead pool team discussion. I’ll just leave this here incase there are any other task/dead pool players around wondering the same thing.
I’m making a new team of Taskie on front with Felicia second and Anchor Frank. Yea I’m pretty much willing to spend 3 bars to get Frankie to level 4 and when I do, my team I guess sort of goes in reverse with Frankie as point xD. besides that, I’m really here to see how Felicia and Frank can help Task on point. Shopping Cart is a good substitute for Tatsu minus the fact that it scales the combo but I’m fine since damage is damage, but what is it that you fellow Task players do to combo off of throws? I seen it somewhere with Tatsu. As for Felicia, is it difficult to set up the unblockable with her Low assist? If so, then I’ll just use her OTG assist to combo off of throws then >.<.
I was using Felicia at one point myself and to say the least I would swap Task and Felicia in the order since you can do cross ups with her “kitty run” and Task’s horizontal arrows
