Taskmaster is my “anchor,” but I am frequently switching characters for one reason or another, so it’s not always the case that he’s the last out.
Reading all these posts, sometimes I feel like I’m the only one using Vertical Arrows assist…

there’s a guy in norcal named therimrattler who uses vert arrows, but he uses phoenix so he doesn’t really rely on assists to much
so yah your one of the few who uses it because H arrows are superior in every way
Okay, so I’ve been using Wesker(Low Samurai), Tasky(H. arrows) and Shuma(Variable).
Question is, what assist should I be using with Shuma? I can’t really get a feel for any of the three available. Which is most useful given the makeup of my team?
Wesker(low gun shot)/Task(H.Arrows)/Akuma(tatsu)
team is a rush down machine but can keepaway when needed this team can pretty much handle any situation and thats why I like it so much
@Stark: I actually feel that Vertical arrows is a better assist for characters like Magneto who already have dominant horizontal tools, but for characters who have slower horizontal tools the arrows supplements them in a much more easily capitalized on manner.
I’ve been running Dormammu and Tron and trying to find a 3rd. Tasky seems to be working well with Dorm for zoning and Tron’s got a billion health and DAT j.C. I was starting to look into Task with Doom (and probably Dorm), and that sounds like it’s working well for people. Haven’t really used Doom, though, and not sure about him with Dorm.
Dorm + Doom is awesome. I’d make sure I’d have someone that can rush down decently in that last spot though. An all lame team won’t work in this game I don’t think.
I think I’m going to bite the big one and start learning Dante so I can run Dante, Task, Akuma. I’m just sick and tired of Wolverine’s and apparently Dante owns him up. So thats that.
I wouldn’t say owns him up, but he has the tools necessary to win… and a lot of characters don’t. Wolv/Akuma and Wolv/Haggar are both still very strong against Dante.
Trish, Viper, MODOK, and potentially Zero are the characters with good matches against Wolverine. Dante beats him but it’s far from free and if he gets in it can be really hard.
Hulk (gamma upper)/task (up arrows)/xxx for me i am trying to learn a third
1stx=chris *gun fire
2ndx=doom *missles
3rd-sent drones
really just mixing those three in it is a choice of what assist complinents how i feel in how to play task hulk.
So much fun is had destroying whole teams with hulk/task.
Drones or missiles will help Hulk get in better than gun fire.
Yeah I figured X-factor Chris is the biggest reason he’s my first alt. Sent is when I want to win easier, and Doom rocks/missles are always legit.
Been messing around with Task on point (I usually have him as my anchor), wanted to go something like Task/Dorm/???. Wondered if anyone had any suggestions. I was messing around with Doom but I just really don’t understand how to move around with Doom and I was debating Hagger but I really don’t think he is a strong anchor.
doom
I opened myself for that. starts to go to the lab with Doom
someone heres plays task/sent/phoenix, and will literally camp the whole match with drones. Then he has phoenix for good measure. I play a shitload of characters (dante, wesker, storm, ammy, tron, akuma, sent, phoenix, wolv, etc.) but I only feel i win when I’m guessing. I hate playing like that. How do you stop task backed with drones from just chipping you to death?
Not sure if this is a “good” group strategy but these seem to work more often than not for me (I have problems against Zoners + Sent drones as well). My team is Task (Up Arrows) / Dorm (Hole) / Doom (Beam). It’s primary goal is to corner the opponent and then begin attacking. These are my canned way on closing the distance on hardcore keep away and zoners.
Option 1) If you hear the drones being called, simply jump and fire diagonal arrows or super jump forward and fire arrows downwards. The drones disappear if he is hit and thanks to hit large hit box, it’s rather easy to hit him. I usually do this in tandem with Doom’s Beam allowing me to win the range battle and it acts as a great way to close the distance. Then, while he can’t call the drones, wave dash in.
Option 2) I will do either a charging star or momentum charging star with Task (basically dash then charging star to increase the range) depending on distance while having Doom fire a beam. Basically Task blows through a good chuck of the projectiles with his shield and then the beam plows through the rest and acts as cover to keep the charging star safe. This allows me to close the gap easily and transition to rush down with Task. Sometimes Task get’s hit and so does the opponent, which basically leads into a neutral position with no distance between us for minimal damage. Also, it usually pushes my opponent towards the corner which is what I want. This literally can beat nearly any combination of projectile spammers (with maybe the exception of Chris’s Magnum combined with something or Arthur in golden armor state).
Option 3) Use Dorm’s Teleport :d::db: +
to get behind them and instead of air dashing :df: (which will usually land you into the drones on the backside), air dash :f: attack with an air :h:. The hit box is thankfully large enough that you will usually hit both the point and assist and do a nice simple combo for big damage.
Option 4) Use Dorm’s Teleport :d::db: + :h: to be above their point and assist and do an air :h:
Both 3&4 can use Doom’s Beam as it acts as both a cover and cross-up but the timing can be tight (for me because I’m pretty scrubby) but also because I use Doom’s beam for re-launch combos like this one:

Option 5) Use Dorm’s Hole Assist to cover Doom firing some missiles. This usually leads to them reacting in the following ways:
a) Blocking, which allows me to dash in
b) Backing up, which is what I want them to do because I want them in the corner
c) Moving forward which also works because Doom is a beast on rush down when done properly (something I’m still practicing a lot in the lab because I’m pretty bad with execution)
d) Jumping, which is fine because Doom has excellent aerial mobility to close the distance and start attacking
Option 6) Use Doom’s Rocks combined with Dorm’s Hole Assist to soak up all incoming projectiles.
Hope that gives you some ideas!
I feel as though I’ve sinned: I’m switching from Vertical Arrows to Horizontal Arrows for my Amaterasu/Spencer/Taskmaster team. Already, I’m finding a large amount of interesting relaunches and tactics that can be done with it. I’m disappointed.
welcome to the dark side
ps does ammy have any relaunch with horiz arrows?
I told you so ^____^
