Taskmaster combos - Anything you can do I can do better!

Oh, guys, for the quick work sharp sting extension, I’m having trouble executing it under lag. After a sharp sting, what I know works is a fH and quick work (with different timing than the forward throw conversion, so I don’t do it) into shield skills, or jump up, call deadpool then two down arrows and shield skills, which under lag I time wrong a bunch, then there’s the backdash- fH+ Deadpool with 1 otg arrow route, which, if I don’t delay my shield, crosses up awkwardly. I love this team, Deadpool’s fun to play (I can’t believe I’ve never tried him before, he’s amazing), but Tasky’s meterbuild is at stake. Help, pleez.

What do Task/Deadpool players find to be the easiest/most universal extension? Also, air throw confirms with quick work, what exactly are they? With Lariat it was different and much easier, so I am a bit spoiled. Forward ground throws I got, though I much prefer Trish, Haggar, or Frank for ground throw combos.

you can do the full 3 arrows and do the full charge->arrow->charge->shock sting followup if you’ve got the timing down. dunno how describe the timing specifically but when you do the charge->arrow you gotta place yourself properly and also delay the arrows for a tiny fraction.

airthrow you can only do it off backthrow, and it’s the same off a front throw more or less.

If you’re talking about the shield xx arrows ~ shield sting, the trick is to backdash before the first shield. I have that down pretty much 8/10 times because my maximized Nova Task Spencer combo uses that off a raw tag

Nothing special, Just some swinging concepts.

what are some good bnbs that a beginner taskmaster user should learn ?

Ultimate BnB:
c:l::m::h: b+:h: delay :s: instant sj:l:(j:m: also possible) f+:h: delay j:h: :m: arrows x3 land Shield Skills, :s:, j:m::m::h: f+:h: j:m::h::s:. Into jumping H arrows x3 into super, or assist extensions.

is that combo in the video anywhere ?

45 seconds in, also the notation and placement of it is mentioned in his description.

Quick question: if you call plasma beam and then do shield skills and immediate S, the beam covers this on block (josh wong used to do this a lot). But on hit, you get a launch without the delayed S required for the standard BNBs. Is there anything beyond a simple MMHS Task can do off a launch canceled immediately from a connected shield skills?

For reference, in case it requires extension, rapid slash is likely gonna be the other assist. I haven’t used task in a long while, but the trendy ol xxx doom vergil shell could be quite good for him. If rapid slash also covers a blocked skills xx S, ill prob go missiles(will test after work). If not, plasma all day.

<br><div>im having the same problem… </div>

I was completely unaware that you could get the L sword master after using Nova assist + air H arrows. I feel so dumb now haha<div><br></div><div>and as for using the air H in the air series, what you have to do is control the height with air m - air h (or mmh if youre comfy). if you feel as though you wont be able to get mhs after the mighty swing, you might just have to end with mms. you’ll be missing out on some damage but as long as you have assists to squeeze out a bit more damage you shouldn’t worry.</div><div><br></div><div>I’ve also been using that TAC reset thing that leafcolonel (i think it was him) came up with. it’s actually pretty cool and is good for familiarizing yourself with super jump conversions.</div>

I omit the 2nd jM in jMMHf+H jMHS and go with jMH f+H jMHS instead especially in the corner where the hitstun decay ramps up since you delay your shield skill relaunches.

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>That awkward moment when your tech from  July of last year is now being discovered >_<</span></font><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>http://youtu.be/asg62CLRBA0?t=24s</span></font><br></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”><br></span></font></div>

Thanks alot man, I didnt know hit stun decayed faster in the corner.

It doesn’t decay faster in the corner. But in the corner you delay your shield skill relaunches, and that cause the hit stun decay ramps up. In a normal combo after jL f+H jH xx M arrow x3, you can Shield Skills into launch immediately without worrying about getting crossed up, but you have to delay that in the corner.

Didn’t see a Q&A thread so I’d figure to ask my question here: What are some blockstrings that are good for Taskmaster/Dormammu?

Aww, man, that’s my favorite! Shield skills and calling Dormamu at the same time is your most useful string, as it’s super easy to convert into damage, after the shield skills + assist, you can either shoot one arrow forward, or launcher. Arrow is better for keeping them still if they advancing guard the shield skills, launcher gets better conversions if they didn’t block. It’s a super-safe string, and you shouldn’t get birthdayed by it.

There was a guy who got pretty far in evo with Task/Dorm using swing+assist call, don’t do that. You’ll get airthrown by someone who knows what they’re doing, and dark hole doesn’t start up fast enough to change that. However, that string becomes better with the addition of QCF+M (one shot). This string allows you to stay close pretty well, and times perfectly into the dark hole. You can, following them blocking the dark hole, swing, and either j.H, j.S j.HS, or cancel into the charge of arrows and go low, or just scare them into getting thrown. Spacing is important in this one, but mess around and see what you like.

I do the shield skills one about 90% of the time, though, but both are really nice.

Otherwise dash and add cr.M’s and st.M’s everywhere and you have a nice pressure game. A second pressure assist, if they don’t advancing guard at the right times, or they do so at the wrong times, will let dark hole refresh. Keep going until you hit, I guess.

Really good info, thanks dude

Couple Qs for the tasky community:

The other night I was playing online against a guy with a team of Task and Akuma. The guy would get in for free with charging star + tatsu assist and then pressure with spidey swing > air spidey swing into air normals, which point he’d land and be just about ready to start the charging star + tatsu shenanigans again. How do I punish this? I tried to mash back+H on the ground to grab him out of it but the frame data was not in my favor. Should I / when should I pushblock? Should I be chicken blocking and OS throwing?

Also, what’s the best way to use cold star for combo extensions? I thought I saw someone on a stream OTGing with down arrows in the corner and then doing the first part of the unblockable, then connecting with QCF+S. It seems as though cold star lifts them too high for QCF+S to connect under normal circumstances.
