Although my combos here use Spencer’s assist, that’s just to make it easier. After the second rep of arrows in the corner, you can do
back dash xx charging star (“Shield skills!”) xx charged arrows, charging star xx sting master *
but the timing and spacing can be tricky. The back dash is to space yourself perfectly so that all 3 arrows connect and then you can do shield skills again. If that is too tricky, after the second rep of arrows, you can just do
*charging star xx sting master *
After that just comes the follow up I have with Nova’s assist. If you play anything like me, I think it’s important to say make sure u pay attention to if you started your combo using an unblockable with the assist or off a touch from the assist because it won’t come out if you try to do it in the combo later.
Thanks for the info, really useful stuff. Got that combo down with the Nova ender tacked on into the 2 supers pretty consistently. That trick with letting all 3 arrows hit helped a ton.
I actually saw your video first, but the combo seems a bit hard for me so I didn’t study it too much. Offtopic but since you said you have Nova too, do you have any reliable unblockable set ups with the assist? I have Vergil on point which is easy enough to set up stuff with, but Task seems like I’d have to call the assist in a blockstring and then go for an unblockable. I’ve only had this team set up for a few days so I haven’t found any solid set ups yet.
For the past few months, I have been playing Task a / Dorm a / Doom b really well. The only problem I have had is that I do not yet TOD characters with Taskmaster. What combo do you guys use with dark hole and missiles assists? Thanks.
I’m sort-of not able to help with those combos, because I have not really used Nova assist for any of those characters, BUT, now that I know what your team is, I know exactly who you should watch to steal stuff from. His name is Taekua, one of the guys from mexico to go to EVO, and his team is Vergil/Taskmaster/Nova, which is the same as yours if I am reading your posts right. Here’s a video

In it he looks like he does an incoming sequence that makes them land right when the Nova assist hits, so surprise overhead on incoming rather than unblockable, and a few attempts at a Vergil unblockable, one using swords that seems completely impossible to avoid. But it’s just really solid play of that team, and I bet if you followed this guy through a few streams you’d see some truly dirty stuff you can put to devastating use.
I’ve been trying to set-up a ground chain that can lead my AnchorMaster to a set-up for Swordmaster, but I’m trying to fix the flaws.
So far I’ve got this.
cr.:l:, cr., st.:h:, Spidey-Swing xx :d::df::f:+:h: (No charge), st.:l:, st., st.:h:, :f::d::df:+:l:, :H: (Unblockable) XFC, Combo starting off of cr.:l:
I think unless intimidated by the long string, that the most I’ll get out of it is Grabbed during Aim Master H or SwordMaster L.
I LITERALLY posted that video a few days ago. Not with Dorm but showing what Taskmaster Doom can do…
It’s honestly not hard at all and because you will be dropping the Spencer part, timing is even less important. Just practice. As for the setups, I don’t really have much. I usually would call Nova during a block string with spidey swing, arrow cancel, then go low or if you can tell they’re pushblock-happy, swordmaster when the assist hits.
Yeah, I pretty much stole his team. I think someone suggested it to me on the Nova forums because I was playing Nova point and Vergil anchor for a while and couldn’t find a second I liked a lot. I still swap Nova and Vergil depending on the team I’m playing, but I’ve had a hard time finding match videos from his team. I watched his Evo matches and he seemed to lose once he got less aggressive, but he did hit some dirty high low mix ups throughout.
i guess dougie overkill beat me to the punch on this but the thing where you do charge->arrows->charge->sting can be done with a lot of assists. as long as you can backdash and charge->arrows it will pretty much always hit as long as they’re cornered. it’s really consistent and works on everybody but sentinel. for most of the assists where you just do swing->single H arrow you can do it. i’ve tested it with distruptor, dark hole, triple arrow, poison tip, ankle slash, and quick work and so far they all work so theoretically it should work on just about every assist that puts them in the right positioning.
for dark hole you gotta forego the charge and just do straight parabolic arrows though.
After not playing (specifically Taskmaster) for about a 2+ weeks, I’m getting back to him again, and I’m curious to know on how to land the Shield Skills ~ Arrows ~ Shield Skills ~ Sting Master. I tried for a while but got a bit frustrated and could not land it at all. I was using Nova’s Centurion Rush Assist to extend my combo after the BnB in the corner.
Just a note, I really enjoy Bolts of Balthakk for Taskmaster. Good for pressure and such, even if it can be ducked, and the following works as an extension: Hard Knockdown, Assist Call, Swing, One Arrow, First Bolt, Shield Skills, Second Bolt, Shield Skills, Sharp Sting. I like shield skills-ing twice, one might even be able to throw arrows in between there, but I am no good at it.
By playing the vid over and over, I realized that you have to be a set distance away from the opponent so that just the tip of the shield skills hits them so that the whole thing connects.
I’m getting the feel for this by observation (lol like Tasky) but I can’t seem to get the second shield skills, even though it’s registered on training mode. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I’ve managed to land it twice, out of 10 tries, I’ll see what I’m still doing wrong.
Well 1, it depends on the combo you’re doing because if you’re doing it at the end of certain combos, they will pop out either after the first shield skills or the arrows. 2, I had stopped practicing it for a while and lost a feel for it and struggled for a while too so it could just be you needa keep on drilling it into your muscle memory. A trick to keep in mind is you need to let them come down from the ground bounce a bit so all the arrows hit. Usually, the dash back is what gives you the right timing but it still needs a bit of timing so try looking for sound cues/a rhythm to follow.
I also found out you can do an L sword master upon contact with the assist and then link to Shield skills xx sting master…I stopped doing it though because my muscles are so used to TK’ing DP motions (Thanks a lot Nova combos -___- lmfaoo) that I always mess it up
this is old stuff once but i realized that it’s slightly easier to do than i remembered so i figure with a lot of practice this might become practical some time eventually. it’s especially useful since it’s like the only way he can combo off air front throws and any airthrows for anchor/solo task.
