Looking forward to seeing how it behaves
i just slapped together a crude first attempt, but iām getting no video. i put the 5v on the vsync and did not ground the unused inputs on the chips since it seemed to be a remedy for on/off switch problems. would i at least be getting video with no scanlines without these or should i be looking for bad wiring before trying to supply 5v and grounding the floaters?
Did you try to get the 5v from pin 9? Definitely try that before pulling from vsync. Im not sure how accurate the ability to pull power from vsync is yet but Iāll check when I can test mine. You can also leave one or two of the color lines unmolested, and just have the circuit work on a single color; the āscanlinesā would have a definite shift in color and give you a better idea of what all is or isnāt taking place.
Oh shit MMMonkey your the reason, I started this thread because of your site. thanks man for all your info your web site is the best for a ADD mofo like me lots and lots PICTURES!! If I can see it makes it a lot easier for me to do it
Hey toodles I know your not messing with a scart/rgb21 to d-sub yet but I was thinking there is no reason to do left and right rca jack just use a 3.5mm jack its cheaper and TV/monitors with VGA audio are almost always imputed with 3.5mm jack and not RCA
I didnāt try pin 9 cuz of the question mark on it. I rigged up a usb cable to pull power from the controller port but not sure if thats 5v. im thinkin I just burnt one of the chips but ill try closing the floaters before giving up. thanks to everyone involved btw!
Cheers, thatās cool to know. I was checking the stats for my site and found this place and Toodles cool mods
Hey toodles
did you get those proto boards?
Yup, and the Digikey parts to throw into them. Im in the middle of moving though; half my shop is in boxes at the new house, other half is here waiting to be boxed. Iāll def post up when I get one thrown together.
Canāt wait! You still going to mess around with a SCART->VGA sync cleaner for scaler boards? Iād be a first-day buyer for one of those as well.
Sure, but thatāll be a little down the road after the scanner is finalized. It also assumes I can find decent through hole SCART connectors, which is proving difficult.
Ive plenty of them. I can make you a good price though. ;) btw I
ve made a new version of my SCART to VGA sync cleaner called Sync Strike. All signals are available via Screw Terminals 5mm even for the Audio signals. It has additional Screw terminals for an external PSU, coz power via scart pin 8 is not reliable. Please take this into account.
So SCART power isnāt reliable. Good to know.
I donāt know if reliable is a good word more like sufficient some game systems do not supply enough power to run a scart cleaner thatās why it his has the power source on his board. are you trying to use any other system besides the saturn an dreamcast because if so a sync cleaner may not be needed I received my scart port today so once I get the scart cable I can check to see if the saturn needs a sync cleaner
At first it will be Saturn, but eventually Iāll grab SCART cables for all my consoles that they are available (of which I have⦠well, all of them). But yeah, let me know how it goes with that SCART port. Iāll end up snagging that extra one you have.
Hey Toodles,
anytime to mess with scanline rigmarole lately
Assembled one yesterday. Havent tested it; no monitors at the new house.
If you need help testing Iām available
Send me $16 ($10 for the parts and $6 for shipping) and Iāll get a kit out to you, but please remember, I havent even plugged it into anything to test yet. Only reason Id even consider doing this is that between moving and Devastation, itāll be a while before I can work on it. For all I know at this point, it may be completely useless.
sounds like a plan let me balance my books and Iāll paypal you
Is the kit with with adjustable pods for rgb like to had spoke about or the basic kit
