I’m waiting for the new version… Any idea for the price?
Hello all. So the 1.6 kit should be available to order around Feb. 3?
Im expecting the boards to arrive sometime between the 3rd and the 10th. I hope to have them up as soon as possible after they’re received.
Sweet. I forgot to ask, will the 1.6 essentially be compatible with any source because of the sync polarity switch? I’ve heard cinemateq units aren’t compatible with the SLG 3000 at 640x480
That’s kind of a rough question because I can’t be certain that there isn’t something out there that decides to ignore the various VGA standards and do their own thing. As long as they don’t try their own funky mix of HSYNC and VSYNC, it should work fine.
The only things I can absolutely say for certain about it are the things I have personally tested: DC VGA box, the cheapie ebay scaler (on all possible video resolutions available on it), and an Xbox360 VGA cable with all available resolutions from 640x480 through 1920x1080, and the HD Fury 2 (using Xbox360 HDMI, all available resolutions)
Honestly, if it at least TRIES to follow the VGA ideas, it should work. If there’s one pulse (high or low) on the VSYNC line per frame, and one pulse (high or low) on the HSYNC line per horizontal line, and at least one spot it can conceivably leech some power from (it tries to pull from four different lines; you’ll be hard pressed to find a setup that doesn’t have one of them available) it’ll work.
I’ve released a similar project, it’s called RetroVGA. I hope you don’t mind that I’ve used some of your ideas and linked to your site!

bootsector
Okay great I’m sure it will work then. I’ll post my results.
Great work bootsector! One thing that bugs me though - the mario bros example picture is washed out (colors desaturated) and doesn’t give a good example of the awesome effect of an SLG - try using lossless PNG instead of JPG
Just checking in… Any update on when you’ll be taking orders on the new assembly?
Boards are in, parts are ordered. Its looking like Wednesday evening.
And thats an assembled piece right? Just plug and play?
Waiting for the price of this!
There will be only an assembled version?
this looks great !
I only wonder two things, how much will it cost shipped to europe (france) ?
And what exactly do I need to use one with my XBOX360, aside the obvious VGA cable?
I mean I read something about a gender changer, but my english is too approximate when it comes to technical things like that and I didn’t get it.
Could someone point me to a specimen if something is needed ?
Sorry for the delay folks, but they’re ready to go. Complete kits including RGB adjustment shield are on the site and ready to go. I’ve got 19 of them ready to go now, and will try to replenish with more as I can until the production blue’s are ready.
Still unassembled kits, still green. Working on getting the blues done now.
I dont have an estimate on assembled prices yet. Complete kits that are up are $22 for the kit.
For international shipping, you’re looking at $18 per two complete kits.
If you’re using an Xbox360 VGA cable, all you need is the Xbox360 cable, a female gender changer, and a standard VGA cable.
Example gender changer:

The mind… it boggles…
Toodles which are the biggest changes between v1.4 and v1.6 (apart the included T-SLG Shield ) ?
Small sliders are higher quality (and responsible for the $1 price increase, in case anyone is curious), RGB shield connects with two sets of headers for a stronger physical connection, one more diode for potential power sources.
High shipping costs or not, I ordered one. Great project!
USPS jacked up the prices WAY hard a couple of weeks ago. If there were any other alternatives, I’d love to hear them, but UPS, DHL, FedEx, are all even more.
Hey Marcus I just ordered a 1.6 kit and never assembled the OG very first run kit you shipped. Is it possible to modify it to upgrade it to 1.6 power level? If not, I never assembled it, any chance you could use it back?
If not its cool.
