T-SLG (Toodles Scanline Generator) Authentic retro look from your modern flatscreen

I hope I didn’t miss something, but I want one of these for the Dreamcast. How can I get one?

You can buy one and use the Dreamcast VGA box/cable.
This isn’t system specific.

Are the JP1 jumpers hackable to get a variable intensity on the scanlines ? How much would be the pots ?

Yes.
Up to you but 100-500 seem to work best.

i just ordered a T-SLG v1.4 (and a GT-C to) , cant wait to have it in my hands, specially going to use it on my Dreamcast vga.

any timetable updates for v1.5 are you going fully assembled at launch

I am going fully assembled, no ETA yet. It’s currently a holiday overseas but I’ll let yall know an ETA when I get one.

Hi all, I apologize if this isn’t the right place to put this, but I have a v 1.4 kit and I am going to be putting it in custom enclosure I’m going to build. My only concern is the switches. I want to replace them with something bigger and a little beefier so I can mount them to the outside of the enclosure and just wire them to the PCB. I read earlier in this thread that Toodles was planning on using a SPDT on-off-on switch for the even-off-odd select switch but I wanted to see if anyone knew the specs of the three switches for certain. I’m (quite obviously) pretty green as far as electronics goes, so I don’t want to do anything tremendously stupid and mess the whole thing up. Thanks guys, can’t wait to use this thing!

There aren’t any real concerns about specs on the switches used. None of them HAVE to be slide switches; you can easily replace them with super easy to mount in a case toggle switches. The small ones are simple so I’ll start with those:
Both small sliders are very basic ‘on-on’ SPDT (single pole dual throw) switches. If you look where they’re soldered to the board, there are three holes. When the slider is to the left, it connects the left pad to the center pad. When the slider is to the right, it connects the right pad to the center pad. That’s it. Very easy to find replacements, just look for a basic toggle switch.
The bigger slider is also basic, but different. Its an ‘on-off-on’ SPDT switch. If you look at the holes the pins (not the larger end pieces) go into, it’s arrainged like this:
1 234
When the switch is far to the left, it connects 1and2 together. When the switch is to the right, it connects 2and4 together. The switch also can be in the middle, in which case nothing is connected to anything. That pin 3? You wont use it at all; it wont go to your new switch. Forget it exists.

If you were to take that short description with you to a Fry’s or Radio Shack or other electronics place, they should be able to point out what would help. If you’re going to order them online, let me know from where and I’ll see if I can point out workable parts.

Thanks so much. That should be more than enough information for me to get this working. I was curious about that extra pin on the big switch so thanks for clarifying. The only thing cooler than your projects is your customer service. You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Just updating everyone the v1.4 is sold out and the fully assembled v1.5 with (optional) RGB ajustable add-on board is coming soon

v1.6 actually. I made two more changes; I added the second 6 pin header back so a shield would be more securely connected to the main board, and changed the smaller sliders to the CK brand sliders; they’re the on-on version of the same slider that I’ve been using for the larger slide switch. The sliders I’ve been using previous were just too cheap, and I like the security of those two additional mounting holes where the case is soldered to the board. There will be a small run of green kits of the v1.6, arriving in about two weeks if the chinese new year doesn’t push it back too far. That should keep people happy until the production run of blue 1.6’s arrives.

cool I probably should have asked about an update first before posting. So there won’t be any v1.5 released right? I just don’t want to confuse people cause I know people have been waiting on the v1.5 mainly because it was going to be a fully assembled kit.

This thing is awesome, I just wish I had a cabinet or something to use it on

No, I had to call an audible when I put together the v1.5 prototype. There was a grand total of 2 of them made.

Looking forward to the 1.6 models coming out. I’ve got a bunch of other stuff to order from you again so I’ll be waiting to combine it all

Hey Toodles, Is there a possibility of creating a converter similar to the X-RGB? I know it’s probably a nightmare but just asking…Or something for composite/s-video to VGA?

Not likely to ever happen. It’d be fun to work on, but with my current focus on controllers and the massive amount of work waiting for me already, I may never have the time to undertake on such a massive project. If the T-SLG is changing the oil, that’s a rebuilding a transmission; massive amount of work, time, effort, and knowledge required for such a task.

I feel you man. Sounds like it would be a mission.
