T.Hawk Video Thread

He seems to have some good unique approaches…however, I think Sushiya has a more solid Hawk. This guy is a little too busy for his own good at times.

Gooteck’s Rose is a joke.

losers finals me vs ryder.

Why you so godlike gridman?

*Video was taken down on the JTV site… :frowning: :frowning:

Here’s video (finally!) of me playing at SnC’s Ranbat. I’m on the far left in the blue polo shirt w/ brown hair using the blue TE stick. These were warm-up sessions and I lost in the actual event to a Guile player. In losers bracket played a Guy who I beat, then he counter-picked Blanka and I lost. It was very close but I do not have video of my playing in the event, only these warm-ups.

I played against Fuson’s Juri as Ryu from 28:30-32:00. We went 3 rounds.

At 45:15 I come in with Hawk vs Xill’s (sp?) Rufus. The next day I teamed with him for the AI 3v3. We play until the end of the stream. In our first match I won, but in the second I took him in round 1 then he got me good in round two. Check out my splash over his U2 > 360! In 3 I screwed up and he got me with an ultra. In the third match there’s only footage of the first 2 rounds, 1-1.

Here’s a vid of me vs a shitty Dee Jay. I have a couple more vids uploading.

I just took 4th in a local tournment. YouTube - kingal7’s Channel check out some of my vids here any input would be nice. Im at loss with the sim matchup felt i should have been more aggresive.

Good work dude. I’d suggest trying not to burn EX spire when you’re full screen. I have that habit sometimes too, don’t know where it comes from.

Don’t worry about Sim dude. It’s a 8-2 matchup IMO. But I get to play Sims like UTJ and Skurvy.

Here’s a couple more.

i watched the ryu match. I like how you play. good patience. i enjoy the dash shenanigans. i’d maybe use less of hawk’s focus attack cause it blows donkeys unless you toss it out crazy early. think about punishing people who neutral jump you on wake up with dp or st.mp. i think you wouldn’t have had any issues with that person’s ryu if you were consistent with the safe jump o-s setups after all those lp spd’s you landed.

also, fellow forum members, don’t be afraid to rock the splash, lp, lp, lp, far lk FADC U1 after conditioning with the ex spire. just destroys the health bar and the players mental stability. peeps are probably doing it but i don’t think anybody has actually posted it on the forum anywhere.

Yeah, I could have probably destroyed sleepys Ryu if I was more consistent cause he doesn’t even main Ryu. :stuck_out_tongue:

I noticed the neutral jump thing too. I could have won a LOT easier if I was to punish those with a dp (or even U2)

That far lk fadc U1 set-up sounds DIRTY. I’m gonna try that.

It’s pretty nasty cause 1) nobody knows how to play against hawk, 2) as a grappler he doesn’t have any fadc combos so nobody expects it, and 3) doing splash, lp xn, far lk xx ex spire keeps everybody grounded or else they are on their way to getting stunned.

Cool matches. You seemed to punish even fierce shoryus with just a light throw. Ryu’s recovery on that is slow enough to get in a fierce isn’t it? I can understand if you’re just being safe and going for the sure thing but I thought there was definitely enough time to do a fierce not just a light.

Is there even a difference in start up or is it just range?

I think your play is really tight. Good stuff. No frills smart play.

I use lp spd so that I can get the mix-up after. I just need to realize when I should punish with an hp spd (aka when opponent is almost dead).

Edited: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/10406402 there you have some late night vids of me playing in a streamed endless lobby. Disregard the first match where i played like an absolute tool, i start playing again at about 14.00 and onward. Was really tired so sorry for all the fuckups and so forth.

I play a few matches at about 1.02. I leave the stream before that but come back after a few minutes.

hello t hawk players,
for your consideration and enjoyment, i submit this video of myself at SoCal Regionals this past weekend. my name is RandomUltraDavid, and this is hilarious proof that random ultras, always work:

NOTE: I’m not by any means a high level player, I just went 2-2 at socal regionals and thought this video was hilarious. there’s no crazy advanced techniques or option selects going on, I just thought this was awesome.

You play more careful than me holy crap. Once you get a knock down try doing something instead of just standing there waiting for them to get up that is the biggest thing I can tell you…

You chocked a lot against the Ryu. Missed a few EZPZ combos like LP-MP- EXCS which I was surprised since you seemed like you knew what was going on…

The link that Komrad showed you is not really viable…

Far LK FADC U1 is not safe. Hawk does not cover fast enough. Its relying on your opponent freezing.

I personally like EXCS-> U1 but you have to know the spacing to use it properly. On Ryu like characters it creates a very interested frame trap, especially if they try to roundhouse you or use a weak move to try and poke you out. Its a hard input with no real shortcut.

Yeah, I try to play carefully and safely. I wait for openings and go from there really.

I’ve realized that far lk FADC U1 is really unreliable unless you have a really good read on your opponent and know they won’t do anything. It’s really just a “use once” type thing. Tried it at casuals last weekend, landed it once. Got blown up for trying it on a smart opponent.

I was watching Canada Cup on the weekend (lol west coast canada) and I saw a Hawk player do something interesting. He got a jump in splash and then did cl.hp s.lk xx mp spire. They mp spire did chip but a good gimmick I found out in training mode is that if you do lp spire instead, the spire whiffs just in front so you can do a typhoon. Just a neat little trick I suppose.

I’m gonna upload some vids of some Hawk vs Abel matches I had against a friend today. I got bodied (I think it was just me being too impatient and not getting my OS typhoons), so I’m gonna be asking for some tips.

Playing safe is fine and dandy.

Watch the videos I got against Ryder on jaxelrods youtube

Search “Joe Lewis Jaxelrod”

Also look up Craig Stevens match against Rico Suave and Ryder.

Abel is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. The only abel I lose to now is Ryders

LK=> EX Spire is a cute gimmick.

The thing is with hawk you will come to realize is you can abuse traps based on his really obvious flaws. For example

IN the match I got against ryder I did this (or a variation of, dont remember the exact setup but I do it to abels a lot)

First one:

EX Conder Spire => Ultra 1
If you space it right it is a rediculous trap. If abel tries to croching forward ( I think it is?) It will whiff and he gets thrown its the weirest animation. works in other various situations test it out

Body Splash (Block or hit does not matter) => Cr. LP => STANDING Lk=> Ultra 1

The reason you do standing lk is because after Lp it reads as a close and close LK whiffs however it keeps the opponant in a block state. IN the match I had against ryder it caused him to freeze. If you space it right, the LK will purposely whiff. Its a one shotter tho because a masher/ someone who knows data, will already know how to deal with that.
