T.Hawk Video Thread

Does anyone know how to perform a standing/walking 720? What is the actual input you do in order not Hawk to jump? (Is it possible in a pad or only on stick?)
lol, too many questions…
It’s just that I saw this japanese video where the Hawk player actually landed a standing 720 and he barely moved. Not even during dash. Here’s the video and you should check at 9:53
xbox360??? ??? part.4???(9)
(If there is someone that doesn’t know how to watch this, just copy the link in the address bar and paste it here: Nicovideo Redirector)

After the recovery of the ex 360 he does a dash forward buffer 632147896, holds the 6 every so briefly (you see him shuffle forward slightly directly out of the dash) then flings the stick 32147 for the ultra. I watched that 5 seconds of the video about 30 times. It’s really sneaky. kens wouldn’t really be the type of character i would regularly throw that out against though.

It’s really hard to land FA > dash forward 360 offline. People see Hawk’s cancel animation and know he’s only going ONE way-forward and just jump or EX whatever to get out. Good players don’t let that happen.

I’m you sure you could focus a fireball and dash in 360 offline. Probably only once a match though. I haven’t played in a tournament since May though…not too many around here. D:

You can definitely focus dash 360 through fireballs at the right range. On kens, almost max range low forward xx fireball can be focus dash 360’d through or ex spired. when you get them blocking or catch them off guard, fa cancel > dash > 360 is legitimate.

Ryan Hart plays T Hawk in tournaments… Week 2:

No comment about some of his opponents but Ryan plays Hawk well.

I hate to keep repeating myself and unintentionally making it sound like I suck, but Ryan does alot of those EX or U1 grabs right after someone jumps in w/ punch or kick. That sh** is impossible at Arcade Infinity. Nobody falls for that because they either hit deep enough to chain a combo, or they don’t jump at all, or they EX, or backdash. Only when I play someone inexperienced can I do that stuff.

so, ummm… seems ryan hart was doing really well with a combination of what most peeps on the forum would say is “scrubby grappler tactics” (lots of empty jump spd and butter churning during opponent strings) and patient footsies with appropriate pokes (good use of cr.mp and st.mp especially). Best of both worlds, lol? A lot of the empty jumps are outside of the opponents effective AA range, though, meaning he gets to land and extend his spd range slightly by grabbing their missed attempts. interesting stuff. really surprised he wasn’t getting punished for all those st.rh pokes he tossed out–though he did use it as a bait in the balrog match, i liked that. spaced properly, you could probably catch a rush punch happy rog a couple times.

@Lvangundy, i know what you mean. I do that sometimes cause i’m used to instant block >720 with tager in continuum shift as an AA. Doesn’t work quite as well in ssf4 but hawk’s character model is CRAZY tall and if somebody hits him high on the head chances are you can get lp typhoon on them, nevermind ex or u1. And if you guessed wrong, ssf4 still blocks for you. of course, they could jump in and out, both that’s only more likely for characters with great neutral jump normals (adon, sakura, blanka) and/or instant overheads (vega). just my thinking.

Every match I watched, the other player didnt know how to play against Hawk. Pretty clear as day.

OH snap! I didn’t notice that Honda was TAMANAPANTS until now! LOL you got snaked on the 2nd match time out!

I might be on the AI tourney stream on Sunday but it’s unlikely because I think they’re only doing that for top 16.

I think the only really bad matchup he had was Honda. And Akuma, but that Akuma player didn’t know wtf.

I’m so lucky that my city has blankas and dhalsims… ugh.

Rare footage of Gridman playing Hawk!!! Nice setups.

Are you kidding? He’s losing almost all of his matches.

There’s a set of me against a good Gief player. I got blown up. It was my first time fighting a competent Gief. Advice would be awesome.

Whats up, I’m a viper looking for a good Hawk matchup, add me if you can help.
