T.HAWK @ SSFIV Arcade Version

I tried s.hp on crouching cody last night and it would whiff in SSF4

LOL! Those were me playing. I wa REALLLY tired, nervous, the sticks sucked (sometimes you see a roundhouse come out of nowhere, the HK button was sensitive, dropped jab combos etc) and there was lag BETWEEN each of those monitors. My best round was probably the 3rd video you linked. When I played against that Yun, it was Hugo101 playing who picked him up in just a couple games, figured out combos…really amazing. I know he played a bit in 3s but he was way beyond everyone else. That Cody is Sanchez, probably one of the best Cody’s in the LA area.

I threw out EX dives randomly juist because it was new to me, like trying out a new toy even though I knew it wouldn’t work, justtrying to catch people off guard etc.

If you want to say I suck from those videos, I wouldn’t disagree! Hopefully I can get some more footage of me exectuing better and when I’m not so tired.

I have those notes written down tamanapants, will check today hopefully.

No, I wouldn’t say you suck. Trying new toys on a newly-tweaked character with a wonky stick and laggy monitors against top players is bound to be rough. Be sure to let us know anything else you find out.

And it’s nice to know that st.hp was changed to hit crouching opponents. That means there may be other hitbox changes too and that means there may still be a lot to explore.

Edit: Actually maybe the hitbox wasn’t changed on st.hp. Maybe they just changed Cody’s hurtbox to not be so small when crouching. Guess we don’t really know.

Lvangundy - no need to beat yourself up fella. Sounds like the setups are bit ropey, plus a pile of tweaks and a few new characters means you try old stuff and some of it just does’nt work.

From what I’ve seen and heard so far I’m a little surprised and disappointed by Dive - just not enough priority for me. That move should make people scared to AA you, not loose to most air to airs and also get stuffed way more times than it wins. I palyed a set vs Yoga Flames Sim last night and the amount of times it lost to his air to air limbs reminded me how much Capcom must have thought it was too powerful.

There were 2 other things that came to me earlier:

Ex Spire to U2?
Focus attack to crumple, focus attack juggle, Ultra 2?

I highly doubt either will work, but worth a look with the new grab box on that Ultra.

U2 doesn’t have pursuit properties. I highly doubt they changed that.

in defense of EX dive and its hit properties, I think its understandable that it would lose to Cody’s ruffian kick clean. you would too if you saw the hitbox data for his ruffian kick, NOTHING T.hawk has in the air will beat it (unless they give T.hawk air fireballs). Cody’s hurtbox is deep beneath the hit box, hopelessly out of reach. anti-air ruffian kick is nothing to sneeze at.

to my knowledge, f.HP misses on all crouching opponents in super. on of T.hawk’s biggest problems in footsies is how his pokes are limited depending on whether the opponent will crouch or not, because most of his stronger pokes whiff against crouching characters. this single handedly makes cl.HK go from very situational to useless.

can you check if cl.HK still whiffs on crouching opponents? I understand if this is impossible to test, because you have to stand right next to them for it to come out as cl.HK.

are there any vids with KOG’s t.hawk around yet? saw a pic of this dude got a 99 win streak with t.hawk in AE.

Ultra2 blew up the safe jump setups my opponents used. Dunno if that means it’s un-safe-jumpable entirely, and I don’t remember which setups/characters were used, but hey it beat them! Also had extremely fast recovery on whiff, almost Dudley lp dp style, although frankly I don’t remember if it had that in Super because I never used it heh.

Ex dive I think is gonna be a character-specific move as far as whether it’s safe, much like Blanka ball. No one actually punished it so I’m not sure, that’s just how it looks to me. It seems to have the same recovery as regular dive on whiff, or I guess the same recovery it currently has on whiff after ex dp in Super.

I should have good updates tomorrow, going to FFA. Didn’t get to play AE today…I was at a few tournaments (losses of course! LOL)

and also try to do it that you just miss and ask your opponent try to sweep you?

U2 was looking very nice.

If either of those MK changes you are asking about are true, it’s game over for everyone else. Therefore, they won’t happen. If you could cancel cr.mk, you would never be able to get away from Hawk one he got in.

Yeah, I didn’t really expect it. But a guy can dream, can’t he?

But I know I read somewhere about j.mk be special cancellable. Can’t remember where. Maybe it was in those Arcadia Magazine reports.

That is a lot of wins you know… maybe there’s some hope for Hawk in AE and we’ll see some new players emerging and playing tournaments with him

Can you see if you can FADC any of his normals other than F ST LK and CL ST MP?

Does U2 have the same hitbox as his Tomahawk now? Or does he still have that small exact, has to be right on his head hit?

Not sure about u2 hitbox hit I can tell you ppl here have figured out the timing for their jumps and make me whiff. You can do it a little later than before but not too late.

Cannot cancel cr mk into SRK

Command jab and ex dive are NOT overhead (well ex dive if spaced right is just like the regular w potential to overhead)

Command jab hitbox MAY have changed for the good

Close st hk still whiffs a lot (WTF)
