Hmm… so the main directory would be just in the folder that says SSF4 or whatever? The one in Steamapps?
edit nvm… the game and computer detects that the joystick is plugged in but when I go to the calibration tool in Devices it doesnt detect any button inputs. Like when its done right, the little model of the arcade stick should light up according to what button im pressing. Any ideas on what is wrong?
Does it matter if the keyboard is connected to the USB or serial port? because usually in the USB port there is a limitation to the keys you can press.
Some expensive keyboards even require both ports for better response.
No, it doesn’t matter. It’s the in-game keyboard controls that are the problem; any device - keyboard or a stick emulating a keyboard - that ultimately ends up using the in-game keyboard control scheme will have that delay. This also means that it’s possible for a keyboard to emulate another type of controller (like an xbox pad), and get rid of the lag. Don’t ask me about the specifics of that, though.
though to tell the truth, I do not understand what impact it could have in a game. reason is that I do not play at such an advanced level -nor do I plan to- to be really affected by that.
A single frame doesn’t sound like much, but even on a casual level of play, it’s important to be able to react to situations in time. Any amount of delay in controls translates to having less time to react. Anti-airing jump-ins, hit confirming combos and blocking overheads, all of these require the player to react in a certain amount of time. The delayed keyboard controls shrink that window by a frame. For some, it might be the difference between being able to block an overhead half of the time, to not at all. If the delay were to be something really big, like 5 frames, the characters would pretty much be fighting drunk.
Unfortunately, a 1-frame delay isn’t easy to spot with the eye, which is probably why it hasn’t been fixed yet. The video I posted - where the game receives controller and keyboard input at the same time - shows both that there is a delay and that the delay is exactly 1 frame (because of what happens in it). I think I’ve posted about this issue over at Unity, but there are a lot of PC bug reports there, so I’ll probably need to repeat myself at some point. I don’t really play on the keyboard myself, but the game should be bug-free.
Hi all,
im facing a big problem for some months now: i formated my drive because i had a virus, then i reinstalled ssf4 ae pc, but now, i cant do the gfwl update, because of an error : 0x80072752 … after having done a reg clean i couldnt even start the game and it said while starting : "fatal error (-1)"
now im feeling sad. anyone could maybe help me? : /
how about you make the character model setting work, its asif they put the mode in options to trollolol people, perhaps they haven’t made medium or low models for post sfiv characters but thought donmai lets put it in anyway and nobody will notice.
I had updated the game a while ago, and after getting the update, all my purchased costumes are now gone. I purchased the All-in costume pack before installing the update, and now all my costumes are gone from the game.
so now after I delete and reinstall steam, the costumes come back. But when I exit the game and start it again, the costumes are again gone!
I shouldn’t have to keep removing and installing steam over and over again just to get my costumes back. This has happened 3 times now where I’ve had to reinstall steam and the game and it takes forever each time.
I have a wireless 360 receiver for windows and a wireless 360 controller. This combo worked in the old SFIV but in SFIVAE it does not. I cant select a character but when the fight starts I can move or anything. I set my controller up in the setting and still nothing…
I think it’s a damn bug that AI Ryu is like 2x harder than every other AI character. He makes Seth looks like a joke. It’s like I’m playing Daigo or something, the AI is so f*cking accurate at zoning with the hadouken/shoryuken crap I can’t beat him with half the cast. Ryu on Hard is like Seth on Hardest, for an analogy.
i don’t know if it’s an issue or just a bad porting of ssf4AE console version, but it looks like antialiasing doesn’t do its work as good as it did in 4 vanilla, the training stage still has a lot of jagged edges when moving, it’s so bad… any info about it? is it just a bad port or an issue?
Hi guys , i just bought the game today. I’m currently using Alienware M15X. I can launch the game, but the game does not respond when i hit the ‘enter’ or ‘esc’ button. so i’m just stuck at the start screen all the time. the games for windows does pop up when i press the home button though. does anyone know the solution to this ?
hey srk, I was unable to sign into live for the longest time so i re installed the game just now with steam, now I can’t play the game at all. when I start SF4ae this is what happens (usually crashes a couple times then it loads)
the game signs me in (offline) an update is avaliable from LIVE. Update now?
now my imac keyboard (which lacks a HOME button) works fine with this part when i press enter for YES/NO. after hitting yes it goes to the download screen and…cannot download update, make sure you are connected to the internet…and now my keyboard dosen’t work at all, I’m stuck watching this stupid intro movie…can anyone provide a link to fix all my troubles
edit: going to re install the pirate version of SF4ae, this steam version is pissing me off
installed the pirated version and used your patch which got the keyboard and qanba stick working again but I still cannot log onto Live.
what I don’t understand is why my online stopped working. when I first installed the game last year i was able to play online and with a keyboard…but after a few months it just stopped logging into GFWL and sent me to offline hell, well I’m happy to have offline mode again. thank you Darksamus
PC version has frame rate issues. I set my graphics settings so that it runs like the arcade and what I mean by that is that it runs at about 60 fps. Now i am able to pull of combos easier, anti air much better and overall react to my opponents much better.
The problem now is that other people are running at a much higher fps. It looks like they are on speed or cocaine. Overall its not an even playing field as console. Playing at much higher fps is frustrating if you like to react and calculate your opponents moves.
