If he’s like his Dream Mix TV version, then that means no crazy firearms.
In Dream Mix TV, Snake had just basic martial arts moves…the only weapon he used was a C4 in his throws.
But I think this time around he’ll be given more freedom, i.e. powered-up and allowed to use his weapons. And based on the trailer, the Cardboard Box MUST be a given…

Seriously Hal needs to think on making Gan’s costume alittle fucking lighter! I mean wtf, his lightest clothes on ssbm is still dark and can barely be seen on tv (with bright colors, wow). Hell ditto matches are worst. Two darkies fighting and every start of the match we have to do some “thing” to figure out who’s who. Yes I will say this, I do know about the controller respawn point, but do you expect me to remember all the ports? No.
Well atleast make two, atleast two of his color switches to be lighter. I vote white and pink costume!(luigi is easily seen with pink/HOT pink lol) ;D

Dair is common smash notation. Here, it would translate as an aerial 2A.
dair = d-air = A + Down in the air (Ganondorf’s spike)
What I really want is for L-Cancelling to be gone. L-Cancelling places too much emphasis on Air based attacks, and, as a result, many characters are almost soley air combatants. It makes too much of an already limited moveset far less applicable. I would just like to see more balance in regards to Air and Ground attacks.

Yeah, and here’s to hoping that he recovers 1 frame before everyone else, is the fastest character in the game, has insane damage and combos. While you’re at it throw in an AHVB, arial raves, tiger uppercut and gigas breaker.

I concur. They did a magnificent job with making Luigi an individual character–more so than a lot of Mario games have. I don’t see why they couldn’t do the same for everyone but Pichu and maybe Young Link; for me, Young Link has more of a chance because Link has always had more of arnesal in his original games than Pikachu.
Speaking of Pokemon, anyone else find it odd the team has yet to include an actual Fighting type Pokemon? I mean, I understand the inclusion of Pikachu and Mewtwo in terms of popularity, but I never got why Purin (Jigglypuff) was added over Hitmonchan or something like that. Maybe it was do to that recurring Jigglypuff in the anime? Hmm…
Anyway, I’d kill to see a Fighting Type get put in, even if it’s a “bastard” like Medicham or Heracross or Blaziken; Breloom…not so much. Hell, I’d doubly back Hitmonchan if Little Mac got in–Little Mac is a boxer, correct? The game likely is going to get another bipedal Pokemon since we’re getting a new Kirby character, a new Mario character (who thankfully won’t be a clone), and a new Metriod character (who, even as another version of Samus, looks to be far more different than the aforementioned clone characters from SSB:M).
Either way, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Hitmonlee…as I brush up on my Japanese (like I had been meaning to do before this…really).
Ugh. Ye gods…no Cloud or Sephiroth, please. No Final Fantasy characters (at least if they’re not from Tactics…heh). If any FF7 character made it in (which seems the most likely given they’ve been the only ones in an actual, if crappy, fighting game AND they’ve had a lot of recent activity), then the FF6 fans would bitch until doomsday and vice versa. As someone mentioned early, the only that might go over well would be FF9 because they were already animated in a “kiddy” way closer to that of a lot of SSB series’s character. (Not that I agree with SSB being kiddy in premise, but I have to repeat such things.)
The same thing goes for anime characters like Edward Elric. I mean, it’s not like there aren’t some people complaining already about Snake’s inclusion, despite there already being “serious” characters like Link and Captain Falcon and Fox and Samus (who’s a fucking bounty hunter for Athena’s sake).
As a whole, I think that Sora would go over well, but that’s admittedly bias as well. Besides, I don’t think it will happen, at least anytime soon given his newness–Ragnarok would be a badass “item super” though.
Given that even Snake’s been around for a while and first debuted on the NES, I have to say that I think a lot, if not all, of any others third-characters will follow that trend; the only likely deviant I see would be Sonic. So, that said, I’m somewhat hoping we’ll see a Megaman or better yet, a Robot Master from one of the NES games, though it would probably be Gutsman or Cutman since they’re super popular.
As for other, less over third-party characters, didn’t Konami also do the Ninja Turtle Games? Shredder anyone?

And if Zero Suit Samus plays anything like Whip from KOF with that whip-sword (there has to be an appropriate name by now…), then I’m even more sold; I just hope she (or anyone else for that matter) not as broken as Shiek or Fox from the later game.

First off, Yuji Naka was quoted as wanting Sonic in Melee originally also, which is why EGM’s April Fool’s joke worked so well with that game. I guarantee you this is an invitation for a ponderous amount of third-party “guest” appearances for Nintendo’s all-star fighting game.
Secondly, FF characters won’t fit? O_o
If they don’t fit the Melee universe at this point, I don’t know what characters do. If we’re talking pure asthetics here (and not Nintendo owned franchises), you’ve got the Fire Emblem characters, you’ve got Ganon and Capt Falcon and you’ve got no objections (or at least didn’t mention any) to SOLID SNAKE? C’mon. You can’t see Advent Children Cloud and Sephiroth standing next to Marth and Roy in all their cape flapping and sword weilding glory? I find that hard to believe.
And let’s be honest here, Snake looks completely out of place ATM, we’re all just waiting for Nintendo to convince us he can work. Plus we all just love the character, so we hold our objections.
I’m calling it now, on May 12th, 12:55 am. I GUARANTEE you will see Cloud and Seph in Brawl. I’ll even put it in my sig, I believe it that strongly.
Honestly, those Square characters (and those two specifically) fit like a glove IMO. Not only asthetically; I can’t think of any other video game characters that even come close to Nintendo’s characters in terms of sheer popularity and mass reverence. On top of that, it would be like a reunion of sorts with the company’s absence from Nintendo’s platforms for so long. Great way to play up on fanboy nostalgia. The connections are there. Squares most prolific musician is directing the soundtrack.
It makes too much sense. Square fits.
